Filed back taxes from 2024 via certified mail, what to expect

I was unaware until this tax season that I had not properly filed my 2024 taxes. I filed back taxes via certified mail early April . My state return came about 2 weeks ago but I am still waiting on my federal return. State return was about $350 and my federal return is expected to be about $1000. Is this normal? The IRS website still states it has not been received.

Feel guilty about calling out due to power outage/ storm damage

Returning seasonal employee. School teacher the rest of the year. this is my second season. Had a training shift on the 19th of June then haven’t worked because I took a road trip with my friends for about a week. Came back yesterday night to discover my entire neighborhood and part of town is without power, and there are downed trees everywhere. I am scheduled to work tomorrow but took unpaid protected time. I feel like I am being alittle unreasonable but it’s 100 degrees and my house doesn’t have electricity or running water rn (well water). I know this looks bad calling out like this but do you think management will punish or be overly upset about me calling out? I will happily make the time up once my power comes back.

EDIT: I live about 30 minutes from my store, they do still have power at the store

Undercooked sausage afraid of food poisoning

Grilled some uncooked sausages from Costco this morning for breakfast. Bit into one and noticed it was still fairly pink. I had already swallowed that bite by this point. Put the sausages in the microwave for a minute to make sure they were good. Will I be ok? I hate a flight on Friday and I’m worried I’m going to have food poisoning

What is an appropriate amount of hats?

I saw a post on here today about baseball hats and wanted to hear input. I have 11 sports hats

1 NY Jets

1 NY Knicks

2 NY Rangers

7 NY Mets (they are different colors not all of them are blue and orange)

These were acquired over the course of a few years and some were gifts from friends and family.

I typically only wear the teams that are in season so rn baseball and until recently basketball.

I rotate them out pretty frequently and wear them all about 1-2 times a week.

Is this overkill, should I downsize?

Debating coming back to football, childhood Jets fan.

I’m from NJ, in a divided Giants Jets household. My dad likes the Jets, and I picked them as a kid because I thought the jersey was cooler. I’m 25 this year and can honestly say I haven’t followed a Jets season since the Obama administration. I’m a big Mets, Rangers and now Knicks fan (bandwagoning I know). I want to like the Jets, but they have just been so disappointing. Is there anything to be hopeful for this season?

GF and I are 25, can't find stable employment as teachers, and want to move somewhere else on the Eastern Seaboard

Both my GF and I have been out of college for a few years now, and neither of us can find a steady job here in NJ. I am a Social Studies teacher with a Special Education license, and my girlfriend teaches Elementary and is looking to be a speech pathologist. For the past 3 years or so I have been covering long term leave of absences. This year I got my first tenure track job, and was laid off due to a budget crisis. My girlfriend has been in a similar position. I have about 30K saved up, she has about 50K.

I personally don't care about being landlocked, but my GF loves the ocean, so the two of us would like to be within atleast a 1 hour 30 minute radius of the ocean. here are some other less important things that are factors

I am a big Baseball fan, and both my GF and I are hockey fans. I would still like to be able to see my Mets and Rangers play away games wherever we end up.

I use NJ Transit somewhat frequently to get into NYC for concerts and sports, would still like a similar option for commuting infrequently to a city for entertainment.

I like biking, and would like to live somewhere with bike trails.

If this potential state/city has Wawa thatas a big plus, but not a requirement.

How long before I start to hear back from schools for the positions I applied for?

2nd year teaching. Social studies and special ed certified. Last year covered two long terms leaves in a regional school district. This year had a full year position as a ICR social studies but was RIFed. I have maybe 10 applications out across multiple schools. I have emailed my cover letter to the respective HR departments and applied to the positions on frontline. I have heard back in the sense I’ve been emailed “we’ve received your application” but have yet to get a call of an interview. When can I start hearing back? My first year teaching I had a job by June but last year it took till August.

Prior to the 1960s, did the Giants, Dodgers and Athletics baseball teams have a presence in NJ?

I’m a relatively recent baseball fan, got into the Mets in college. I have a co worker who’s middle aged who’s a Dodgers fan because his father was from Brooklyn. I know sports fan culture was way different 70+ years ago but I want to hear from older folks if these teams had a fan base in NJ

In particular

  1. were you or was someone in your family a fan of one of these 3 teams

  2. are you and your families still fans of these teams?

Saw this on the team store instagram, does anyone know where I can find a SnapBack with this sort of layered design? I saw a similar one that was gray at the mall awhile ago
