Hi everyone, I found the first 2 pieces on my friend's property in western NM along with some flakes of various different rocks.

The first piece is obviously worked but I'm wondering if it's possible to tell what type of point it was intended to be. It looks like it was close to being finished but wasn't turning out to the liking of the knapper. There appears to be a flute on one side only.

I'm also wondering if the second piece is just another flake or if it's a broken scraper. One side appears to have been worked but I don't see much going on with the other side (attached 2nd angle).
The side profiles of the second piece go from intact side -> head -> broken side.

My friend found the third piece in a different location than my 2. I think it's JAR but I told him l'd ask anyway.

Hi everyone, yesterday I had the worst first date ever. “Why so bad?” You may ask. Well, I took her to 12 different grocery stores in Fort Lauderdale to check the coinstars for riches abandoned. The first 11 machines were completely empty. All the twelfth machine had to offer was this fucked up wheat penny. I was completely drunk by that point so I thought the lettering was stamped on there 4 times. I became viscerally angry and started stomping my feet (something I do when I’m angry) and crying deep, guttural cries. She was embarassed and got an uber to pick her up from Publix while I was still doing my stomping.

Now that I’ve sobered up, I’m relieved to see that there’s only 1 set of extra lettering and numbers which should be fixable. Should I use a bench chisel to scrape off the extra lettering or try to pound it flat with a pin punch? Is this coin even worth saving???

I think I still have a shot with this girl and if I can prove to her that our coinstar hunt wasn’t completely futile then she might want to go to the rest of the city’s coinstars with me.

Original post: My fucking screen on 6/12! My test was formatted to fit the entire wide ass screen. In my irrational pre-test anxiety, I thought that’s just the way it was for everyone and I just had to deal with it until I finished the test (last one to finish) and 3/4’s the other test screens in the center were normal. Really fucked with my psyche. I’m so fucking angry and 100% should have voided. Pray for my CARS score.

Updated post: Insane drops. Was averaging 128 in cars and 129 in p/s on the last 3 FL’s. 3 point cars drop from my low across all 6 FL’s. I contacted AAMC to both complain and request that my test not be graded and they told me to go fuck myself because I didn’t notify a staff member. 1) I assumed it was more likely that I was in the wrong than a 10.5 billion fucking dollar testing company giving one of the most heavily regulated standardized tests in the world. 2) Tf am I gonna do once I finally realize the screens aren’t supposed to be like that? “Hey, my monitor wasn’t formatted correctly. Can you fix it and let me try again?”

Fuck Pearson, fuck AAMC, and fuck me. Getting drunk at 10 am on a Tuesday. I’ll recoup tomorrow

Greetings Truckeeans

I’m a birder/photographer visiting from Albuquerque, NM and have a good chunk of time today (the 11th) to attempt to find one of these rotund balls of beauty. Yes, I have eBird but after spending 3 hours today at Donner Lake trying to find white-headed woodpeckers, black-backed woodpeckers, red-breasted sapsuckers, and hermit warblers, I was once again reminded that I suck at this hobby and need more help than eBird can offer. If anyone has any surefire locations for hearing/seeing these guys (bonus points if there’s also grouse there), I’d very much appreciate your guidance. The eBird hotspots also typically cover a pretty broad area so coordinates or a specific point on a map would be helpful.

I’m currently in Truckee and will be spending the first part of the day at Meeks Bay with my girlfriend and her friends so any locations reasonably close (<90 min drive) would be great. I leave early on the 12th so tomorrow’s my only day to find the elusive quail.

P.S. If any birders here are ever in Albuquerque, hmu and I’d be happy to give advice or tips on finding specific birds.

I know there’s gotta be some fellow bird enthusiasts here. I’m visiting from Albuquerque, NM and have about an hour and a half tomorrow morning to find one of these rotund boys before I leave Portland. If anyone here has a surefire location please let me know as these guys have been at the top of my woodpecker bucket list since I was a kid.

I’m staying at the Four Points on 181st Ave just below I-84. If I need to force myself to wake up earlier for a longer drive I’ll do it.

This is the worst fucking mnemonic I’ve ever seen. They highlight “GON” as GONna become a sperm but can’t make the connection of sperMATozoan is a MATure sperm? There’s so many things about this that make me angry

Up until now was getting 127-8’s on every chem-phys FL section before this. Didn’t even realize I took 15 minutes on that stupid 9-step retronecine synthesis and still missed 3/5 of them. Ran out of time and had to do letter of the day for the last 5 (I chose the 1 letter that wasn’t the answer for any of them). I’ve never had trouble with time on anything other than cars 😡.
