How do you plan your shopping list so that you're getting ingredients that aren't going to waste? (Using something for multiple recipes)

I find myself buying groceries to make stuff, and then only needing a portion of it and the rest going bad because I don't have anything late to use it for

How do you do better, more effective meal planning? What's your approach that doesn't take forever to do so? I end up over thinking and going way overboard and then it just kinda drives me nuts and stresses me out.

I need some resume advice / input, my current role is expansive and I'm trying to pair it down to what I'm applying to

My current role is a mixed bag of most things infrastructure. I design, implement, and maintain all things relating to networking, identity management, server & cloud infrastructure (AWS & Azure), endpoint provisioning & management (Intune), security, and I'm certain more that's not coming to mind right now.

I've created more PowerShell scripts than I can count to serve a number of purposes; on-demand report generation, automation, and configurations.

I've stood up SFTP servers to run jobs that integrate with our Workday environment, including a lengthy PowerShell script that has automated user onboarding, offboarding, and overall management (title, location, manager changes, etc) that syncs directly from Workday, so it's now all HR-driven.

I've stood up custom MCP servers for use with Claude to restrict the scope of what it can access.

I've configured firewalls, access points, VLANs, SD-WAN, web filtering, IPS, VPNs both (site-to-site IPSec tunnels and remote access)

I'm submitting my resume to an Intune admin position, and I struggle with omitting details of my experience that don't necessarily pertain to the job description. With my current role, I work with so many different aspects of the Infra area that I feel like it lends well to going in whichever direction I feel like, but I can't include everything because then my resume is going to end up being 10 pages long.

So I'm just looking for some input on my resume as it stands now, hoping I've included enough, but not too much.

What's the popular HYSA banks these days? I'm new to trying to better my finances.

I've always heard of Ally and SoFi, but I recently came across a list on the Bankrate site that has a bunch

And it seems like Forbright currently has the highest interest with $0 minimum and no monthly fees. Looking for some reviews on this bank.

And a question in general -- When I open an account, is that my "locked in" interest rate? Is that a thing anywhere? Or if they start offering more or less like 5% or 3%, does my interest earned change to match?

LotR food commander deck, Sam/Frodo partner combo question

They each have the effect to partner with each other, which to my understanding means they're both in the commander zone.

But when one comes into play I can search my library for the other and add it to my hand.

Does it still go into my hand? Into play? The effect is just null when playing then in commander? Not sure how that works in commander.

Looking for some insight on what I want to look for in a bike.

I want to start riding for exercise.

I know there's a difference between trick/bmx bikes, street bikes, and mountain bikes.

I'm fairly certain what I want is a street bike. I'd like to go around to find rail trails (paved) to ride along. But I'm not sure what to look for.

Growing up I always just got Walmart bikes and I don't think that's going to fly for long term heavy use.

Do I want thin tires? Does that make a difference? Do I want gears/speeds, or is that just for adjusting for elevation?

Where can I get good seats for bigger guys? Last time I tried a bike it was VERY uncomfortable. The seat was trying its damnedest to go right up main street and I couldn't really sit, which made it too tiring to go long distances. Or else I was super sore by the end.

Any recommendations would be appreciated..

I'm in western MA if that helps direct towards good bike shops.

How on earth do I stop watching videos and actually start?

I keep watching video after video of perspective, Loomis heads, trees, rocks, ribbons, etc

I can't seem to ever put pencil to paper because I never know where to begin.

I finally tried drawing with my kids the other day and tried drawing some park scene with rolling hills in the background and it's god awful. The trees look horrible, I don't know how to shade, and there's no perspective.

Like I watch these videos and my brain can comprehend what I'm watching them do, and my hands just can't do it.

At what point do I need to accept I'll never be able to create the art I want to?

How do I build a diet / meal plan to hit my macros?

I'm trying to 1) lose weight, but also 2) build muscle in some areas of my body. I understand that having enough consistent protein throughout the day is the most important part of the muscle building.

However, I have trouble calculating ahead of time my macros. I know there's calculators to come up with my estimated goals for the day, but I mean while I'm eating meals or snacks in between I try focusing on high protein, low calorie foods but then when I enter the stuff into a tracker I see that I'm almost near my fat or carb limits, or just my overall calorie ceiling, but find I'm way under on protein.

I know the first obvious response is that my foods are not as high-protein low-calorie as I initially thought, but it's hard to tell A) When something is a good source of protein or not and B) where I'm going to end up at the end of the day, I can try to plan out my day but I don't always have nutrition labels on hand for every single thing I consume throughout the day ahead of time.

How do you all plan out your meals for a day or so ahead of time? Do you just consistently eat the same couple things over and over?

Does Netflix not allow casting to a Chromecast anymore...!? I can cast other services fine.

I'm not sure if I'm suddenly doing something wrong or what. I haven't had Netflix in a long time, but I never had a problem casting last time I had it.

Now, there's no cast button. I have the standard plan with ads. But I can't find confirmation of if I that it'll be able to cast. Seems really dumb to remove the option and I'm not paying more than double just to cast, I'll likely just cancel instead.

I need some guidance on methodology for wifi connectivity issues. Office setting with multiple APs.

Probably about 30 users in the office. Issue is VERY intermittent and cannot be recreated on demand. Doesn't happen to every end-user device when the issue occurs, and it's not always the same ones either.

It's most noticeable when the affected users are on a Teams call, but they're dropping off the wireless entirely. Sometimes for 10-20 seconds, sometimes for up to a minute or two.

We worked with our vendor support and an engineer had us make some changes; such as going from 80MHz channels to 40&20, adjusting transmit power, disabling band steering and sticky client settings. Seemed like their take on broad best practices.

Still happening.

I'm seeing deauthentication events and DHCP requests in the logs for the devices affected during the time of the event. But I can't figure out *why* it's happening.

I was hopeful that after removing the sticky client settings (and in turn the RSSI threshold) that we wouldn't run into an AP dropping a client that happens to fall below the threshold briefly.

I'm just not sure what else to look for. If you're knowledgeable and willing to provide some insight on where to look, and what more specifically to look for, I'd appreciate it. Please don't just give me "hire a consultant" answers, they're not helpful.

Edit to add information:

5 FortiAPs (I believe 231's, I can't confirm right now), all generally about 60-80ft apart. Multiple VLANs (desk phones, wired, each SSID). Clients are all wireless. Managed by a FortiGate 60F.

Any Mint Mobile customers here? What's the service like?

Idk if this is the appropriate place for such a question, but it's specific to MA (mostly western MA).

Looking to switch to the service but not if the coverage is terrible.

Do I have an eating disorder..? I can't make sense of my behavior while trying to lose weight.

I've been trying to lose weight for years, I occasionally drop some weight but then inevitably put it back on plus interest. I'm just going to describe my typical behavior, because I don't know how to get out of this cycle.

  • Disgusted with how I look in the mirror, how my shirts fit, the fat in my cheeks, chin, and man boobs.
  • Tell myself to take my diet seriously and get rid of any junk food I have available.
  • Go buy a bunch of healthy stuff. High protein yogurts, carrots, celery, salad ingredients or even the premade chopped salad kits for something quick, etc.
  • Then I start the next morning by making something healthy, low calorie, high protein for breakfast.
  • Still have a huge craving for more, usually something sweet. Do my absolute best to ignore it. Usually doesn't work, at least not for long.
  • Eventually binge on crap and tell myself the problem was getting rid of all the junk food because now I'm depriving myself.
  • Go get things for snacking, some chips, cookies, etc.
  • Try to moderate, but a handful of chips or a couple cookies isn't enough. I end up binging half of them.
  • Feel disgusted once I'm stuffed and bloated. Throw it all out again.
  • Late at night, nothing to eat or snack on, I order something like Dominos or some other kind of crap.
  • Eat half of it, feel disgusted, throw the rest away so there's no leftovers for when I start again tomorrow.
  • Go buy a bunch of healthy stuff again because everything I got before ended up going back.
  • Try "kickstarting" my diet by going a full day without eating, because of the few times I was super sick and couldn't eat, having that full day of a "reset" kind of let me get into a good groove for a while.
  • Make it to lunch time and binge.
  • Go get the things so I can have snacks and not deprive myself.
  • Go overboard when I try to moderate, feel disgusted, throw the rest out.
  • Eventually the healthy stuff goes bad again because I keep doing this see-saw.

This cycle has gone on for years, and I'm so tired of trying to get healthy. I'm so tired of wasting so much money and food buying things to either throw them out after I'm disgusted, or have them go bad because I bought them with good intentions but then couldn't stick to the healthy stuff.

I know how to eat healthy, which is the real kicker. I know how to prioritize macros, that eating at a calorie deficit is the only way to really lose weight, that less calorie dense foods will have more volume, that high protein and fiber will keep me full and slow down my digestion.

Like I know all this stuff -- until it doesn't matter when none of it satisfies my cravings for processed sugar and carbs and I go on a binge because I can't sleep or do anything because I'm otherwise super lethargic and weak if I eat healthy.

Then I go on these kicks where I'm going to try something like keto, throw out even the healthy carbs, have one thing that's too high in carbs and throw the whole day away and binge again.

It's maddening.

Could I have gotten regular hoops when I downsized instead of captive beads?

Question on downsizing / swapping piercings.

I got spider bites on my lip at the end of February, and the initial jewelry was captive bead rings. No issues with healing, it's all been pretty smooth sailing.

The other day, at the 3-month mark, I downsized and switched from titanium to niobium because I wanted a darker color, but they're still captive bead rings.

All good as far as the rings, they're nice and snug how I wanted without being too tight, just enough to keep them from flopping around like the initial ones did.

But, I'm wondering if I could have gone with regular hoops? I prefer to have the aesthetic or just the ring, but keeping the bead on the inside of my lip rubs against my tooth which id prefer to avoid

Or is 3 months still too early to go with something other than the captive bead rings?

Making a character at level 4, question about the "spells known"

The PHB states that at level 1 I know 4 spells, with two 1st level slots.

Level 2 is 5 known spells, three 1st level slots.

Level 3 is 6 known spells, four 1st level slots and two 2nd level slots.

Level 4 is 7 known spells, four 1st level slots and three 2nd level slots.

It states I can't learn a spells of a level I don't have slots for, so if I'm making a character that starts at level 4 -- I get five 1st level spells and two 2nd level spells right?

Or I guess possibly with the "swap one spell on level-up" mechanic -- I could have four 1st level spells and three 2nd level spells?

Do I have that right?

Edit to add: Or I guess that swap on level up applies to both 3 and 4, so by 4 I could have three 1st level and four 2nd level?

Are there any charcoal baskets that fit in the Weber Smokey Joe?

I can only find ones for grills 18in or larger. I guess I could makeshift something out of foil or something, but it'd be nice to have something more sturdy and actually made for the purpose. I can't find anything small enough though.

How can I get a better sear on my Smokey Joe?

I had a full layer of coals on the bottom. It's the standard grates, I know cast iron would give darker grill marks but I mean a sear from the charcoal itself.

Do I just need more charcoal inside the bottom so that they're closer to the grates?

u/TheStrangeHand — 3 months ago

Just got a Weber Smokey Joe, give me all your favorite tips and tricks

Im thinking things like:

- Fuel efficiency, snuffing out and reusing charcoal

- cleaning tips, ash and whatnot

- temperature tips, maintaining low for maybe smoking or high for searing

- favorite things to bbq that aren't the obvious hunks of meat, veggies or whatever

- favorite recipes

I want to make this thing my main cooking vessel as much as possible. Give me anything you think is worth sharing!

Is charcoal grilling sort of a waste for 1 person?

I love charcoal grilled food. I want to get one because they're pretty cheap, but I can't help but wonder if I'm going to be wasting a lot of fuel.

My understanding is that you can't really snuff out charcoal to reuse, so once I light a pile it's gotta all burn away. And with something like a Weber kettle, it looks like I'll need to light a decent amount to get it hot enough to sear a piece of chicken or a steak.

Smaller grills will put the coals closer to the grate, which I would think means less charcoal needed.

Looking for thoughts and recommendations. Because I also really like that I can get wood chips to smoke stuff without needing to get a whole big smoker

Filling in for our old network engineer, trying to learn on the fly but stumped with a wifi issue

I have two offices to manage.

One reports drops/freezing on Teams call for a few users, primarily when more folks are in the office all on calls and the load is heavier. But it doesn't happen to everybody.

The other is reporting similar issues, but when Teams calls drop it's because they seemingly lose connectivity altogether. Some need to rejoin a meeting from their phone because the connectivity is lost for several minutes.

Issue only happens on wifi, wired connections are stable and fine.

Both offices have FortiAPs, managed by a FortiGate 60F.

I've been checking logs in the FortiGate and our FortiAnalyzer and can't see any deauthentication or disconnect events. Though maybe I just don't really know how to examine these logs correctly.

I never experience the issue myself, it never seems to happen when I'm physically in the office, and I cannot recreate the issue on demand with the users that have experienced it in between.

I'm kinda losing my mind over this one.

I've adjusted configurations like band-steering, separating 5GHz and 2.4GHz on different SSIDs, reducing transmit power too much avoid AP overlap, increasing transmit power to ensure coverage everywhere, modifying sticky-client / roaming settings. I can walk around on a Teams call on my device and watch me bounce from AP to AP without issue.

It doesn't always happen to the same users, leading me to believe it's the network equipment/configuration rather than end-user devices.

I'm just kinda lost on where to go from here. Management wants to buy new equipment but I'm concerned it won't resolve the issue because Fortinet gear is generally pretty well rated and we have very basic requirements. No VLANs, 30-40 users max in each office physically spread out among the APs.
