Why is everyone looking for PGs instead of hostels?

I've been seeing a lot of freshers searching for PGs. Is there a specific reason most people prefer PGs over the college hostel? Is it due to the hostel fees, limited seats, restrictions, or something else?

PG recommendations + looking for a roommate

Hi! I'm looking for a budget friendly double sharing PG near IGDTUW with decent facilities. Any recommendations would be really helpful.

Also, if any fellow IGDTUW 2026 fresher is planning to stay in a PG and is looking for a roommate please DM me. Thanks

Is Candidate's Presence Mandatory for IGDTUW Hostel Form Submission?

Does anyone know if, for IGDTUW hostel admission, when the hostel form is released and documents have to be submitted, is it mandatory for the candidate to be present? Or can my sister submit the hostel form and documents on my behalf? Please let me know if anyone has experience with this

According to the JAC Delhi counselling schedule, I have to submit my willingness by today after physical verification. My physical verification is already done, but I still don't see the willingness submission option on the portal. I want to choose Float.

Is anyone else facing the same issue? What to do now

secure ECE seat or take a chance for CSE AI?

Female candidate here and I'm genuinely very confused about what to choose.

Rn I'm getting NIT Agartala ECE in JoSAA Round 1. My ultimate goal is tech placements/software roles.

In JAC Delhi, I might get a branch(IT) at IGDTUW in Round 2 which could eventually get upgraded to CSE by the last round according to previous year cutoffs

The issue is that if I get that branch in Round 2, I'll have to pay around 95k and attend physical verification the very next day. So I need to mentally prepare myself whether I should even go ahead with it or not.

Another factor is the fees. IGDTUW is comparatively expensive for me and I'll most likely have to take an education loan there, whereas the financial burden is lower in my current option(nit)

There's also a possibility that I might get CSE in a better NIT thru CSAB ya toh nit Agartala mai he cse mil jaye but again that's uncertain.

Because of all this, I genuinely can't make up my mind. Should I:

\- Stick with NIT Agartala ECE?

\- Take the risk, pay the amount, continue with JAC ?

\- rely on CSAB possibilities?

People who have faced similar situations regarding branch vs college vs fees vs placements, please share your opinions. My main priority is tech placements and a good ROI

Do companies recruit 2nd year students for internships or PPOs?

Seniors, could you share which companies usually visit the campus for placements? Also, do any companies hire students in 2nd year for internships or other opportunities? It would be helpful if you could mention the branch

I regret letting others choose for me once. It's happening again

I'm in a really confusing situation and need some perspective.

I currently have a confirmed seat at an NIT Agartala ECE, so I have a safe backup. However based on previous cutoffs and my rank I'm extremely confident that I'll get IGDTUW in the next JAC Delhi round. The problem is that my family wants me to stick with NITA because it's already confirmed and we're also facing some financial constraints with the seat acceptance fee. But I genuinely feel IGDTUW would be a much better fit for my goals, especially since I'm aiming for tech placements.

What makes this harder is that in Class 11, I wanted to join a different school, but my preference wasn't really considered. I switched my school but I ended up spending two years in a school that I never wanted to attend and honestly regret not pushing harder for my own choice.

Now I'm scared of repeating the same mistake for the next four years of my life that's gonna shape my life.

Has anyone been in a similar situation where you had a safe option but wanted another college much more? How did you convince your parents and do you think it's worth fighting for the college you genuinely want?
