How to tutor someone with suspected dyscalculia

I have a sibling a year older than me, F18. She has a history of failing math, despite genuine efforts and dedication to doing well. Her teachers had brought forward the possibility of her having dyscalculia, but my parents refused to go forward with an assessment out of fear of it affecting her future job and university applications (which isn’t true at all) but she didn’t want to do the assessment and screening either.

I’ve always tried to help, but she often doesn’t seem receptive of tutoring. I understand and I’m not trying to push. She has tried to pass GCSE maths multiple times and is soon to apply for university. She has asked for my help, and I would really like to know any information I should take into consideration and how I could make the study process easier for her. I have mentioned the idea of getting access arrangements. I mentioned how it has helped me significantly and I think it would help her too, but she doesn’t seem interested.

Guess my MBTI based off of my playlist!

I’ve always been told my mbti is very on point with my personality by others. Personally, I’m not so sure. I always end up questioning myself (even though I’ve identified with a specific one for a while). About myself: I’m quite talkative, I tend to ramble about nonsense. I have a lot of hobbies, but I’m only dedicated to a few. I have a significant number of friends but I don’t tend to get close to people. Meeting new people makes me very nervous, but that’s part of the fun! I’m usually a do first think after type of person. People are usually very surprised to see I do well academically. I hope that’s enough self-description!

Please type me based off parts of my playlist! I’m very eager to see what people have to say and I really hope I don’t get a specific one because I want to beat a certain MBTI allegation.

My school didn’t give me a grade for one of my subjects at all

I finished my mocks in July. I do my exams on a laptop whereby the documents are shared with teachers. Due to some issues, I sat my exam on my teachers laptop who told me he would personally make sure it was marked by my subject teacher. On the day where we got our grades back, that subject (chemistry) was blank and my teacher said he would make sure to check in with my subject teachers and ensure that was resolved. I got decent grades for psych and bio, being BB but I had been anticipating an A for psych and because my paper two which I did better on was also lost, my teacher had to go off my paper one. It’s now summer break, our official report cards were sent by email and my chemistry grade is still blank. I’m emailing my school but getting no response. I lost access to my school email so my form of communication is through my dad’s email.I’m so confused on what to do. My school genuinely irritates because this issue was flagged 2 weeks before the term even ended. What do I do?

Memorising my cashir is lowkey fun

I’m so lucky I didn’t have to go through the hardcore Dugsi stuff like getting beat or anything. And now it’s lowkey fun memorising my 4 ayahs a week lmao. I have ADHD so I love saving it for the last 15 minutes before dugsi and racing to cram it. Obviously I would choose not to do it esp at my age but honestly it’s kind of fun, except for the part where I read the translation and deep that ppl actually believe it.

How to introduce the idea of therapy to parents as a teen

I’m F17. I live in the UK with my mum and my siblings. I have struggled with my mental health for years and most of my family is aware of this. Past experiences have led me to have unresolved issues and anxiety. I don’t want to go into it, but my past experiences still affect how I go about things and how I view myself and others.

I have previously asked for advice on my issues on other forums and subreddits and the answer is always therapy. I’m always told my issues are too complex to fix on my own. I’m afraid that if I go to my mum with this, she’ll just tell me to pray and book a Quran Saar like she has done previously. Even when I attempted at home, the only consequence was Quran Saar and my dad sending me videos on how to manage my anxiety. Has anyone else introduced this idea to their parents? I feel like it’s a very western thing and especially as a first gen immigrant I do feel that it’s “unnecessary”.

Trying alc

I’m f17. Just curious on how it felt to try it for the first time for those who did? I’ve been thinking about the possibility of going to pubs/nightclubs at university and it doesn’t seem too bad. I love music and dancing but I am a little nervous about alcohol. I’ve never tried it and I definitely won’t until I move out, but it intrigues me. I worry that I’ll be a light weight and I’ll be unable to limit myself properly. I also worry that it’ll be too exciting and I’ll end up reliant/addicted to it. I tend to easily get hooked on things that give me dopamine due to having ADHD so I’m a lil worried on how to manage that possibility. Any advice/thougts?

Also I really like want to try a buzz ball.

Learning how to take care of my hair

I’m F17 and closeted. Growing up, my mum always took care of my hair. It was very thick and healthy. She kept it in braids and washed and maintain it for me once a week. Once I hit 12 she suddenly stopped and it became my responsibility. I just did it how she taught me but I either kept in a braided ponytail or just a bun. I never really had a curly hair routine besides oil and different hair lotions like Pink.

I’ve been trying to learn how to maintain my curls. I was formally diagnosed with traction alopecia because of the hijab so I want to wear it out at least when I’m at home to give my hair some relief. I also don’t want to look a mess when I’m an adult and hopefully free to wear whatever I want.

My hair is a decent length, 3c and about shoulder length when it’s curly and halfway through my back when wet. It’s gotten thin due to the alopecia but is quite healthy with minimal heat damage or bleach. Any advice on products I should use, and a possible routine would be so so appreciated as I often don’t see advice on how to maintain curly hair with hijab.

I still say the shahadah every night

I’m F17. I never really believed in Islam. I believed in Allah but not really any teachings of the Quran or the things I was taught in the hadiths. I formally left about a year ago and don’t practice it. I do still say the shahadah every night before bed and idk how to feel about that. It’s partly a habit but I think it’s also something more. I silently denounce the whole religion, I feel annoyed when I’m told to pray or when I hear another speech about hijab. But for that last minute of my day, I feel like holding on. I definitely don’t believe in the religion. But I don’t know why I still feel inclined to say it. It’s not something I feel like I have to stop doing. It doesn’t bother me and I don’t really care if it seems nonsensical for a ex-Muslim to say the shahadah every night, but I’d really appreciate some thought on this. Any possible explanation/ discussion is very welcome!

ABU in mocks am I cooked?

I haven’t gotten my results back but this is my prediction. My problem is, the U is in biology. Which is the most relevant subject I do and it’s vital to the course I want to pick for UCAS. What do I do? I don’t think my school is going to make me redo the year, but am I cooked for actual applications because my school uses these mocks for predicted grades. The course I want to do have relatively low requirements in most of the universities but definitely not U grade low.

Hijab gave me traction alopecia I’m genuinely so done

I’ve literally been wearing hijab since I was 6. And the other day I was diagnosed with traction alopecia. I’ve always had really thick hair, and for the last year I watched it fall out significantly. I’m so done with this. Is this Islam’s final fuck you so I don’t take the hijab off because my hair will be so cooked? I genuinely can’t do this anymore. And then my mom is telling to cover my neck the same day like I don’t have bigger problems than my neck showing. I can’t wait to get out ugh. Even when I take off my hijab I’ll have a reminder (in the form of a fucked up hairline) of the whole decade and more that I spent having this cloth wrapped around me.

Im so tired I feel drunk

I’m F17. I’ve never felt drunk, but what I’ve been experiencing is the closest I’ll probably get.

I recently moved so I live about 2 hours away from my school. I take train and bus which cuts the time down to about 1.5 hours. This means i wake up at about 5.25 to make it to school on time. I also I get home about 6. This leaves me with barely any time to study so I usually have to cut into my sleep. This means I get about 6 or 5 hours of sleep on average. But my quality of sleep is great, my room is quiet with no distractions.

Meanwhile, to solve my distance problem, I’ve been sleeping over at my cousins on weekdays. They are a big family with a lot of kids, this means despite me getting about 8 hours of sleep. The quality of sleep is pretty low and I have to rush to get ready.

So with both options, I’m pretty screwed. I’ve already been struggling with fatigue and anxiety because of stress and now I feel like I’m not even awake during the days. At times, I don’t remember what I just said. I feel so drowsy that I look back down at what I wrote and it’s just scribbles. I struggle to stay awake most lessons to the point where I end up falling asleep almost every lesson. I feel guilty because I rarely fall asleep during break or when I go home, but the moment it’s time to learn or I get bored I feel completely out of it after a bit. I can barely lift my eyelids and i sometimes end up repeating the same sentence over and over again. I’ve even experienced falling asleep mid conversation. I I’ve experienced typing something and looking back and realising I wrote pure nonsense or a bunch of incorrectly typed words.

I’ve started to rely on caffeine to keep me awake after school so that I can study, which isn’t going so well because I end up knocking out no matter the location or how embarrassing it is. Any advice?

(I’ve gone to the doctor and all my bloods and other tests have come back normal)
