Today I've released v1.8.0 of eilmeldung with some new features you may be interested in:

• support of base16 themes, with many already included (supports direct preview from within eilmeldung; see animated gif)
• pipe articles through external commands (for saving articles as markdown, sending via mail or piping through an LLM if this is your thing)
• better display of articles with direct opening of links and images
• support for Linux (NixOS/homemanager, Arch AUR), Windows (scoop), macOS (homebrew) and NetBSD

Could have just printed a sliding lock from Printables.

However, here we are, after modeling, tweaking and printing for several hours.

At least the kids and my wife like it and the bunnies don't mind.

The model is not released yet but I can release it if anyone is interested

The original reason was that the cheap ones that came with the cage didn't always lock properly. Now I can tell the kids "Did you bring te bunny to the carrot?".

I often play UNO with my kids on the bed, couch, grass or ground. Especially new cards tend to slip and slide off the discard pile. So I wanted to design a card box which

• can double as a playing tray
• is easy to print and assemble
• has low filament consumption
• is parametric/has customizable size
• and is pleasant to look at

Wanted to share my 3D-printable for the passive Waveshare eink display. You can attach it anywhere but I had the (stupid) idea to attach it to my kids' shoes. They like it. 😄

(*) "because why not?": The display is relatively sturdy and readable in broad daylight (its e-ink). That said, attaching any electronics to your shoe is a stupid idea in general: it can get wet, get scratched and may get lost. Use this holder only if you (or your kids) don't  wear them in rough or wet environments.

Hey there! I always liked these passive e-Paper displays and so I created a holder for shoes (and other clothing).

(*) Before you start roat/hate this: I know this is a stupid idea and I don't recommend wearing this rough environments! It is a pure vanity fashion thing for fun!

The original PLA-based one bent in the sun. So I designed one using a Prusament Spool as base.

The wind chime is my Hooting Owls Wind Chime.

Wanted to post a comment on a Polygon article and they wanted to know in which age bracket I am. It seems like I am scratching the "almost dead" bracket --- and next year I am in it. Oh well.

With demographics shifting towards older people and the next generations, brackets should be "Under 45", "46 - 55", "56 - 65", "66 - 75", "Over 75".

I've started with a base version on a stick. For the last weeks I've tried to develop a wind chimes version. I've used wood filament for the prints in the video.

Hey there! After many hours of tinkering, I've just released my hooting owls wind chime: The owls in this wind chime start to make a hooting sound when the wind blows by; they really sound similar to an owl.

This model is 100% handcrafted, no AI.
