Stumbled across one of my old sticker albums and thought it’d be fun to share. Not sure on the exact date of these but it was definitely early mid-80s. Tough to pick a favourite page, though. G.I.Joe was my favourite as a kid, but being English-born, the SAS (with lifted GIJoe images lol) are pretty boss. The Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars have the cool factor. PAC-Man has the only googly-eyed stickers and the Transformers are glow in the dark. The MOTU are the biggest puffys I have, and the anime footy really speak to my love of Japanese culture. Tough choice all around.
My favourite Family Mart location, in Setagaya City, Tokyo.
In addition to my usual Kinkeshi, last month I brought back a couple of these key chain mini carded figures. They’re not bad although I usually don’t go for key chain Gashapon. I was happy to get the chase color version of Terryman on the 6th spin without a single double
I love these Nintendo controller capsule toy key chains. Of course, when I got home from Tokyo and looked into them, I discovered any doubles would be easy to pass long and I should have kept feeding the machine until I had them all. Oh well, I’ll keep that in mind for this falls visit.
Some of the Gashapon I grabbed in Shibuya/Akihibara/Shinjuku last month.
Some of the Microman I picked up last week in various spots around Tokyo. How many is too many? I’ll let you know when I get there.
I was able to grab a couple more pieces of King Kong Lives (aka King Kong 2) merch while in Tokyo last week, a sweet promo button and the Famicom game, complete in the box.
This Henshin Cyborg throwback Microman with karate gi was a great find this past trip. I’d never seen one of these before and as a huge fan of the OG Joe, HC, and MM this piece really checked alot of boxes.
Even Kinnikuman is collecting the Dragon Ball line.
I hadn’t planned to get a Valkyrie this year, but when I saw this Tamashi Nations store exclusive in Akihabara last week for only 22,000 Yen I couldn’t say no.
My suitcases were all packed full when I came across this SHF Toei Spider-Man and I just couldn’t say no. It was a tough fit but I managed to “Tetris” him into my bags. Well worth the effort and now I’m so glad I missed out on the Marvel Legends version. I don’t have the courage to add black wash to the web line grooves, but I’m really considering paying a pro model painter to do it. So many great poses in that show and I can’t wait to try them all.
Stumbled across this hotel is Shinjuku earlier this week.
The Godzilla store in Odaiba has all these sweet blu-rays and 4Ks, unfortunately none have English subtitles. I get it, they’re domestic releases, but the Godzilla stores are tourist-centric and English is everywhere (even the shelf talker is in English). I was hoping that maybe just one had subs, ah well, more money for Godzilla CCG booster packs (which were all available in English 🤷🏻♂️)
A few pics from a stop at Bic Camera Akihibara yesterday.
Came across this sweet statue in Shinjuku today.
I normally hit the Goji store in Shinjuku but I was in Shibuya yesterday for the Pokemon Center, so hey, when in Rome. 2 t shirts, including a store exclusive, a sweet 4 color pen (I love those, mom refused to shell out for them when I was a kid, so now I love to find them), a couple of the new action figure line (it was the only Biollante in stock versus dozens of the other styles, I’m sure I’ll be buying them all by the weeks end), magnets (which make a nice gift for Godzilla friends back home), 18 packs of card game boosters, and of course a bunch of Gashapon.
I had to load up on the Jaws Gashapon yesterday.
