[The Wicked and the Warped] Was the War in Heaven 10 million years?

I notice most dates for when the Necron great sleep happened is 60 million years ago (including in the novel). Yet in the book Orikan states it has been 70 million years since he wore clothes, implying this was when biotransferrence took place. So this would imply that the time between biotransferrence and the acceleration of the war against the Old Ones and the great sleep (after the defeat of the Old Ones) was 10 million years.

I don't think GW understands how long a period of time that is.

It's king of funny how the original 3 Nicktoons complimented each other. I wonder if this was deliberate by Nickelodeon?

It's kind of sadly fitting that the last Disney Channel Original Movie was 2022's Under Wraps 2, when Under Wraps 1 in 1997 is generally considered the first DCOM.

[Obsession] How has society not collapsed from things as powerful as One Wish Willow’s being readily available at commercial retailers?

If you watch the film, it’s readily accepted by the store owner and the hotline that they actually 100% work in granting any wish. In fact, there is a customer help hotline for dealing with the effects and the store owner is very nonchalant about it (why is he even a store owner?).

Makes me wonder why society hasn’t completely destroyed itself from the mayhem this would cause

The most wholesome moment in the series and I hope this is the canonical future of Stewie

So what exactly is the purpose of the Studio WIT One Piece series?

I have seen it advertised but am perplexed by its purpose. It's to my knowledge the only series to be getting a remake even as the original series is still ongoing.

The primary reason I see is to "introduce a new audience to One Piece so they can jump in and not have to watch 500 hours of filler and dragging stuff out".

Yet, season 1 will consist of just 7 42-minute episodes that will cover roughly up to the end of the Baratie arc (or around 50 chapters, or 7 chapters an episode) Even if they continue this pace for 1 season a year (itself up in the air given the slow production issues with anime these days) it will still take them around 25 years (or the year 2051) to get to where the original anime currently is.

Moreover, the early part of the series doesn't even have very many issues with filler and unnecessary padding. If the goal was to fix the pacing issues with the anime, they started way too early. It becomes much more of an issue around Thriller Bark onwards, and peaks in Dressrosa/Whole Cake Island which the WIT series would only get to in around 2041 (15 years from now) at the current pace. And the pace will only slow down, as post-timeskip chapters become far more dense in dialog/speech and the manga's own version of padding/dragging stuff out (see how many panels of luffy running down a hallway there are in Onigashima). So I really doubt they could manage the 5-7 chapters per episode pace one they get to Punk Hazard or so.

So what exactly is the strategy here with this series? It covers things the preexisting fandom is long familiar with and has been remade even in the current anime before (such as Episode of East Blue) and new people to "jump in" will still have to watch hundreds of hours of poorly paced anime episodes if they want to get into the series.

Anyone else find it funny how "normal" Shanks' crew looks compared to the other Yonko instead of all being 18 ft. blob monsters because Oda drew them so early on (I miss regular humans in One Piece).

imo all of these characters should have died so the series could have some sense of stakes or tension. It would not have changed the story in any meaningful way either.

[Spoilers: Armageddon - The Return of Yarrick] Regarding implications of GW's new Commissar character Graves...

So first off, I didnt know if I should spoiler this as it's just a passage from a campaign book about a tabletop non-novel character, but I still figured to be safe than sorry.

Anyway so I was flipping through the new Armageddon campaign book when I noticed the section on Thenia Graves (who got a corresponding miniature and is a major character in the recent war there) was a bit off.

While she was always a typical brutal zealous Commissar type, after the Season of Blood (the Angron/Khorne invasion of Armageddon campaign from last year or so) she watches some recovered videos in a cogitator she found in the ruins of a Khorne-corrupted hive. She feels the need to watch it again, and each time it's just grainy red VHS-style video of these shadowed hunched figures hopping around (not sure what these are). On the eighth viewing of the video however it suddenly plays longer, and some monstrous entity looms in this new section of the video before the feed cuts out. She now obsesses over this video and has rewatched it over and over and the image of the looming figure lives on in her mind. She has difficulty forgetting the image and it has inspired her to cleanse Armageddon of any and all corruption.

But while inspired to fight all corruption, in the aftermath of this video incident she is now more bloodthirsty and prone to acts of execution and violence. So I think it's clear that GW's new loyalist Commissar character is actually being subtlety corrupted by Khorne, or even fully corrupted without realizing it. Though I wonder if GW is ever going to go anywhere with it.

[Excerpt: The End and the Death Volume III] Last stand of the Custodes

Context: During the attack on the Vengeful Spirit during the Siege of Terra, Constantin Valdor and the last 5 surviving Custodes make their last stand against hundreds of Traitors while also trying to reach where the Emperor is. The Vengeful Spirit has by now turned into total Warp-consumed madness.

The epicness of this scene makes it one of my favorite 40k literary moments of all time. Also, I find Valdor's seethe towards Erebus pretty funny.

>Diocletian Coros and the last four members of his Companion company are making their way towards him, calling his name. Forget me, he thinks. Just fight the bastards. Coros reaches him.

>‘Get up,’ he says.

>‘Not sure I can, tribune,’ he replies.

>‘Not pertinent, captain-general,’ Coros says. ‘Get up. They’re coming. They intend to finish it.’

>Constantin gazes past him. He can see black shapes descending from the upper part of the orbital plate. They are floating gently, like the scattered feathers of a crow, carried by the air down the metal cliff.

>No, not the air, he thinks. The warp. Abaddon and his bastard sons are carried by the warp.

>They begin to land, as gently as snow. Abaddon and his praetors, his battle-brothers. Whole squads, a company strength or more, settling to the ground and then walking forwards. Constantin sees them, the best and the worst of them: Zeletsis, Baraxa, Jeraddon, Kucher, Curalis, Varia, Gustus, Sycar. So very many, and among them, once again, Lorgar’s venomous spawn Erebus. Well, no wonder, Constantin thinks. This warp magic is his. This is all his doing.

>It was always his doing.

>Abaddon’s force is approaching, spreading out, almost leisurely in its advance. Squads of Word Bearers are emerging from the orbital plate to reinforce them.

>Hardly necessary. The Sons will be more than enough, with Erebus’ power behind them. They have Valdor and his men in the open, broken and reduced to almost nothing. Hellas Sycar and his Justaerin lead the traitor formations. It will be decided quickly. It will be over soon.

>Constantin shakes his head wearily, and even that hurts. Though it will be quick, he won’t make it easy.

>‘Give me that,’ he tells Coros. He points to his spear, which is lying nearby in the grass. The shaft is now very slightly bent.

>Coros brings it to him. Constantin grips it, and uses it as a support to haul himself to his feet. Like an old man with a stick, he thinks. He stands, unsteady, swollen with pain.

>‘Form up,’ he tells his men. Simple words now, no neuro synergetics. ‘We’ll hand them hell.’

>They answer as one.

>Constantin glances at Coros.

>‘If we get out of this,’ he says, ‘you or me, any of us… That storm. That’s where we go.’

>He points at the rotating spiral of clouds beyond the orbital plate. It’s dragging the sky in from all sides as it turns, like a tablecloth being twisted and pulled into a hole. ‘I think that’s what we’ve been making for. I think that’s where He is.’

>Coros nods.

>‘Any of us, you hear?’ Constantin says, addressing them all. ‘If you clear the field, make for that.’ As though to prove his point, thunder splits the air, rolling from the eye of the storm. It rumbles and booms, like the sound of twin giants clashing.

>‘But this first,’ Constantin says. He points with his spear. The XVI are approaching. Bolters start to crack. Valdor steps forward, circles the spear and deflects two of the whining shells. They explode as they glance aside. He wants them to know he’s ready. They are not coming on a wounded quarry, helpless and injured. He wants them to understand he’s going to hurt them.

>Valdor and his men step into the Justaerin as they arrive. The clash is instant and violent, a trading of blows and a shredding of metal. They’re brutes, beasts, but beasts can be made to yowl.

>‘Gir Kucher,’ Constantin growls, as blood sprays from his spear-tip.

>More of the XVI are closing, Word Bearers too. A pack, a mob, clotting together and slowly surrounding the loyalists, encircling them just as the rushing clouds encircle the eye of that tempest. The intensity of the combat is ferocious, just as last stands ought to be.

>The last stand of all.

WTF is wrong with Blue Jays

I just set up my first feeder (complete with spicy seed to keep away squirrels/mammals cuz my Dad said we'd get rodents/bears and this was the compromise) and the first thing I've noticed that blue jays are fucking assholes. They chase away all the other birds, sometimes will just "guard" the feeder on a branch above and chase off anything that gets close even if it isn't eating from it itself. They charged a few pigeons that were just NEAR the feeder on the ground. Every other type of bird I've seen except the rare crow seem to behave themselves.

How can such a pretty bird be so nasty?

Bash mob/takeover event being planned at West Farms Mall this weekend

Was shocked there is no discussion for this here, it’s been in the local news. Basically on tiktok teen groups are organizing a bash mob/street takeover at west farms this weekend. They will basically rampage throughout the mall looting and attacking people. Police only have limited options to stop it.

Some articles discussing this very serious situation:

https://rollingout.com/2026/05/15/westfarms-mall-alert-viral-teen-post/

https://www.wtnh.com/news/connecticut/hartford/westfarms-mall-increasing-police-presence-due-to-possible-teen-takeover/amp/

People should avoid west farms this weekend, the police will not be able to stop it.
