I’m very impressed with this budget TCL TV

My tv went out yesterday (I’ve had it for years) and I planned on upgrading to a Bravia 8 II OLED tv or something similar in that tier, by the end of the year. I didn’t expect my tv to go out, so I bought this TCL Q51K in a pinch today at Walmart and I’m very impressed with it. Ive never heard of the brand so I was skeptical at first. I got the 65 inch. The gaming is very nice on it as well as 4k movies. Some bleeding of course on black screen but it’s not bad at all! I still plan on getting the OLED this fall for my living room and moving this one to my bedroom, but just wanted to make this post to say this tv is definitely not bad for someone on a budget, or not wanting to spend so much. It’s such a nice tv for $368!!

The very first DVD release of Halloween (1978) and the significance of it

This very first DVD of Halloween was released in late 1997 by Anchor Bay. First of all, it was a terrible transfer. But it has huge significance. It was a flip side dvd, with a widescreen presentation on side 1, and a pan/scan on side 2. The downside of the widescreen format on this release, is that it wasn’t in anamorphic. The transfer was also a little pixelated. What makes this particular DVD so collectible is that it’s the only physical media release that’s post-VHS/Laserdisc that holds the untouched, unaltered original mono soundtrack of the film. All other DVD/BLU/4K physical media releases of Halloween that have the “original mono” included, have either slightly dampened, altered or most unfortunately, down mixed from the 5.1 mix. I first watched Halloween with the 5.1 soundtrack probably in 2003 or so. And I absolutely hated it. I remember thinking “wtf is wrong with the movie?”. I grew up watching it on vhs and tv in the 90’s with the original mono. It’s almost offensive how different the 5.1 is from the original track. It’s almost like watching a completely different movie. Some people like it however, and that’s completely fine. We can enjoy this amazing movie any way we please. The transfer of this dvd looks best on a smaller, older CRT and an early dvd player..matching the DVD’s time era as much as possible. And viewing the pan/scan as well. If you want the original mono soundtrack of this film to be as authentic as possible..start with the 1994 Criterion Laser disc as it holds the absolute, perfect mono to the movie. Next, all early MEDIA HOME ENT releases on VHS. 3rd, this dvd. 4th place would be the 2007 DVD / and 2007 1st bluray release. All other “mono” releases are heavily down mixed. I always like sharing some type of physical media history to the group every now and then, so I hope you fans enjoyed.

Older movie with a passing barge on a river?

I saw this movie twice as a kid and remember this scene. I’m pretty sure it was a river for the body of water. But there was this sand bar type place and maybe an older white man standing there and a younger black boy , maybe 8-10 years old and he just plopped down on the sandbar on his back and did snow angels randomly as the barge was passing in distance. And he talked alot in the movie. Unfortunately that’s the only info and scene i remember but I know for a fact that happened as I remember being uncomfortable from the sand. If I had to say a time the movie was released it had to be between 1970-1990. But most likely 70s or 80s. I saw this on tv in late 90s and very early 00s.

Shameless (US) is leaving Netflix this fall due to license expirations

Even though it’ll still be available on a few other digital platforms…it made me appreciate my stack even more. Because my stack is with me always..at my discretion. Not a corporation’s discretion. And that’s an amazing feeling. Physical media matters

B movie snake movie appreciation

Anyone remember/own any of these snake flicks? Something about the bad acting, terrible cgi that holds a special place in my heart lol.

With all the drama surrounding the future of physical game discs, GTA6 etc..can we just appreciate how much character the original games had?

What could this be on my lower abdomen?

I’m 33 male, 230, 6’2 , white , untied states . Noticed this spot about 5 inches from my belly button on lower right side abdomen. Doesn’t itch or hurt. When i look at it from the side with a light , it’s raised with little microscopic bumps, almost like lizard skin. I pressed a glass on it to see if it blanched and it didn’t fully go away in center but did a little around the outer of it. I shaved around it and took some closeup hoping someone has a better idea. Thanks!

Unique, different takes ONLY in original television cut (please read)

I’ve always loved the original television cut of the first film. Most likely because it was the first version I ever saw of Halloween during the 90s on television. Unfortunately, it was retired all together in 2005. The edited theatrical version was aired all throughout the 90s, however the television cut was shown time to time. Especially on scifi in the 90s, and between 2000-2005 on USA network and FX. This was also the version that was aired on NBC during the time Halloween II was airing in theaters. It wasn’t until 2021, when they added it as a feature on the most recent Shout! release of the film. Where before, we only had the extended, theatrical cut available on physical media.

These unique takes I’m showing are only viewable on the OG, television cut. There are other small takes that were altered, but I included 2 of the most obvious ones. For the fans who just discovered this, Hope you will enjoy

tv cut is on top, while theatrical is on bottom and I have them playing simultaneously. The first cut shows Annie and Laurie in Annie’s Monte Carlo. Due to the blunt, an entire different take was added of Laurie saying “Thanks” to Annie after Annie said “I always said you’d make a fabulous Girl Scout”. The theatrical shows Laurie looking down, while taking the blunt saying “thanks” with a confident tone. The alternate take shows Laurie making eye contact with Annie saying “thanks” hesitantly with an offended tone. The last take is the classic scene of Laurie discovering the bodies. The theatrical shows Laurie put her hands in front of her face and scream very loudly as she ran off when the cubby door opens with Lynda inside. Due to not showing Bob swinging for a second time, they included an alternate take of Laurie actually grasping her head with her hands and subtly screaming as she ran off when the cubby door opens. Keep in mind you can only watch this version on the bonus material tab on the “original color timing” Shout! bluray, and the accidental 80s MEDIA vhs release. I do want to add, the YouTube upload of the nbc version with added commercials is not 100% from the airing. The user heavily edited it with newest audio track, and also scenes being cut. Most likely for content reasons. Hope you all enjoy!

Any idea why the as of date on my 2022 transcript was in 2024?

I mailed 2022 in 3 days ago. I never did receive a notice, like a cp59 or anything..but I went ahead and did it beforehand. I was curious and wanted to look at the transcript and it was completely blank, no tax return filed only on the field. My question is, how come the “as of date” is 2/26/24 when the tax year for filing was 2023? All of my other transcripts as of dates are within the tax filing year with most a few months after April.

Is this how you would calculate a tax liability/ refund / owed etc for a single filer?

Trying to see if this example calculation I did for someone with agi of 91,000 and those deductions if that’s correct calculations. For year 2026

Does transaction code dates actually mean when it was posted

Trying to make this not sound confusing.

I was recently looking at my 2021 transcript and didn’t remember a tax assessed additional code 290 $0.00 on it. But the date for code was May 2022. And the cycle date on it was also for May 2022. Does this mean that code 290 was actually posted then? Or could it mean it was posted now and says that date? There were 2 of them and they were after each stimulus payout. Thanks

Friend accidentally filed 2025 taxes as single when eligible for HOH

My friend accidentally filed as single when he qualifies for head of household. His taxes took a few months to get processed and he already has a refund. I told him he could amend to fix it and get additional refund but he said since he waited and now stressed with something else he doesn’t care and wants it to leave be. He simply wanted to know would this cause an issue when he files next year and chooses his HOH status correctly? If you qualify for head of household, can you legally file as single?? Even tho most wouldn’t do that, that’s what he’s wanting to know. Thanks!

Outbound informed delivery / new bogus name shows as most recent tenant of my address , Kinda creeped out

I checked my informed delivery email today and at the bottom was a random USPS GROUND tracking number below the outbound. I have not sent anything from my apartment address in years. I clicked on it and it shows it was dropped at a usps location at the city about 1 hour south of me in another state earlier this week. It looks like it’s made it to another city today and said it was supposed to be delivered. It made me want to get on true people search and see if any past tenants have a current address where this package was dropped off at since it’ll stand out that it’s out of state. And out of the 26 past residents , one now has a current address there. But upon checking all that, I noticed something even weirder, a brand new name shows up as the newest resident for my apartment. And it’s definitely a fake name. The name isn’t real, looks like some weird alias. No birthday, background , age. Almost like it’s picked up a name being used for the address and it logged it. I know for a fact it’s new because I checked my address history there last year and it wasn’t there. Idk I’m sort of weirded out by all of this and wondering has anyone ever had any experience with someone using their address to ship stuff? That along with this new fake name is crazy to me. I’ve lived here 5 years so I’m not new. It’s very strange!

Timeline for direct pay?

I paid my 2025 1040 balance in full on Tuesday afternoon with EFT on direct pay website. Checked bank this morning and payment is no longer pending and has fully posted. But on the IRS website, it’s still under the pending section. How long usually before it gets moved to the processed section? I spoke with someone else made a payment on a Friday and theirs processed on the next Monday.

This is my movie maniacs figure of Michael released in 1999. I added this to my collection some years ago and was able to get it in mint condition, with the movie poster replica Ad still intact on the front & still factory sealed. A little story - I was a kid when I saw these for sale in the mall when they first released. I wanted it so bad, but knew I probably couldn’t get it. They had it displayed on top of a shelf beside a Chucky doll in the store Hot Topic. Little did I know, 20 something years later I’d have it in my collection!
