I finally launched it! Void Descent 1.0 is live with a full 3D graphics overhaul, widescreen support, and a lot more

Hey everyone,

I've posted about my browser game, Void Descent, here a couple of times during development. You guys gave me a really warm reception early on, which kept me motivated to finish this thing.

The 1.0 release is officially live on Itch. 🙌🏻

The biggest update is a full 3D graphics overhaul. Every player ship, enemy, weapon and visual effect has been redesigned for high fidelity 3D. I've kept the original 2D look for mobile or anyone who prefers the retro style.

A completely new scoring mechanic has been introduced as well in the form of real time combat rank. As you play you'll be graded on your positioning and aggression while avoiding damage. The cleaner and more precise you fight, the higher your score is multiplied. But be careful, if you take damage or start playing it too safe your rank will suffer.

I've also tackled the largest issue with the PC experience: widescreen is now fully integrated! Along with that comes complete native controller support (also tested and working on ROG Ally - I don't have access to a steam deck though so please let me know how it works!)

My goal was to offer a game that you can play any time on any device with any hardware and 0 installs, and this current experience is one I'm really proud of.

I wanted to share this milestone with you guys first since you were so supportive early on. Let me know what you think of the new look!

Just released a huge UI overhaul for Void Descent!

Hey everyone,

I posted my mobile and desktop browser survivorlike Void Descent on here a while back and got some really awesome feedback. After seven months of iteration, the game's interface was getting messy. This patch completely standardizes the design language across every single screen (Main Menu, HUD, Augment Lab, Pre/Post-game) to make the ecosystem feel incredibly cohesive.

Shortly before this I deployed another major update that included things like weapon and enemy balancing, elemental system reworks, and numerous bug fixes.

I'd honestly love to get this community's feedback on how the new UI feels and whether the elemental system feels rewarding and fun.

If you enjoy it please consider leaving a rating or review on the itch page, it really helps me out!

Lifelong gamer here with no coding background. I've always loved games like Soulstone Survivors and The Spell Brigade but never felt like I could get a quick experience on the go like that. I used AI to handle the code but everything from system design, game mechanics, weapons, progression, and balance was all me. It took over 5 months of testing and iteration but I'm happy with where it ended up.

Runs entirely in your browser, nothing to download.

Unlock 6 ships each with unique weapons and playstyle. Each run you collect weapons and upgrades across tiered rarities. Beat the final boss and you unlock Nexus Ascension where you unlock and equip passive buffs across 5 difficulty levels. Clear all 5 ascensions and Endless mode opens up.

I would love feedback from anyone, good or bad!

Lifelong gamer here. I kept looking for something that felt right on mobile and never found it. Soulstone Survivors and The Spell Brigade were always amazing but I wanted it on my phon. So I spent about 5 months building out the same core experience that's easy to jump into anywhere at any time.

No coding background, I used Al to handle the code while every gameplay decision (upgrade and augment systems, progression, ships, weapon mechanics, etc) was mine.

It runs completely in your browser, nothing to download. Designed around a phone screen so it plays great on mobile and also works on desktop.

Unlock 6 ships each with unique weapons and playstyle. Each run you collect weapons and upgrades with tiered rarity. Beat the final boss and you unlock Nexus Ascension with 5 levels of permanent passive buffs you equip before each run. Clear all 5 and Endless mode opens up.

It's 100% free to play and I would love feedback, good or bad!

I would love feedback from people who really enjoy the genre!

I've been a fan of this genre for a while and kept bouncing off mobile games that never felt right. Soulstone Survivors is honestly what made me realize what I actually wanted, so I ended up just trying to building it myself.

I have zero coding background. Used AI to handle the code while I designed all the gameplay systems, ships, augments, and balance myself. Took way longer than expected but I'm genuinely happy with where it landed. This has been a huge and enjoyable learning experience for me.

It runs completely in your browser, nothing to download. Six ships, deep augment system with legendary tiers and elemental synergies, ultimate abilities, endless mode. If you've played Soulstone or Vampire Survivors you'll know exactly what to expect.

I would love feedback from people who actually know and love the genre. Please be honest, good or bad!
