Reading Going Postal again after a long while, and...

So for context, Tiddles is hiding under machinery, Moist is leaning in to grab him, and the text in the picture occurs.

It's bloody Alien, isn't it? Tiddles is Jonesy and Brett is Moist (because the engine room was very wet), and Mr Gryle is the xenomorph.

I miss you, Sir Pterry. I hope you have a good cackle every time someone facepalms when they get one of your references.

There's a reason the word 'Myth' in the title of the Channel 4 program.

It's the Trump method. Use a negative word or phrase, made up or otherwise, and get it in the public consciousness associated with the thing you want to be seen as negative. Fake News is a good example. Get them to repeat it. Most people won't event realise they now associate the thing with negativity. It'll start with ADHD is a myth. Then it'll be ADHD doesn't exist, it's just a mental illness. The term mental illness already carries a stigma. Now you're not a person with ADHD, you're mentally ill. You don't need medication that helps your brain work, you need tranquilisers to stop you from hurting yourself, or others.

Then when the neurodivergents are squared away, they can start going after the other undesirables, like trans people, or anyone under the LBGTQ+ banner. Oh, they're not really attracted to the same sex, they're mentally ill. That person is not a man in a woman's body, they're mentally ill. Off to the asylums with you. Take your meds or you'll be punished.

Do you know that neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ people tend to be more politically progressive, or left-leaning in general? There have been studies, but annecdotally it's pretty apparent. Now why would right-wing platforms want to be rid of us again?

This is, of course, all conjecture. I may be being paranoid. But when right-wing medical professionals who write columns for right-wing media suddenly get a platform like a special on Channel 4, I am concerned. ESPECIALLY with Reform gathering support across the country. They need a group of people for their supporters to hate. The rhetoric of 'Brown people bad' just isn't getting the headlines it used to. Time to start on a different group of people with barely understood medical conditions. And by attacking us, they can drag the NHS into it. "Neurodivergent people cost the NHS [INFLATED NUMBER WITH NO SOURCE] last year! Oh the poor NHS, why should these people with no external symptoms be allowed to drain our beloved healthcare system dry??"

Be wary, my fellow neurodivergents. Push back when you're able. Don't let them other you.

I reserved a book at my local library about living with a micropenis

When I arrived to collect it, the librarian checked the system and said "I don't think it's in yet."

I replied "Yep, that's the one!"

Pre-internet Strategy Sharing

I was going through my old things, and I found this being used as a boomark. I got the original FF7 on Christmas 1997, when it had only been out for a month here. At some point in early January 1998, I got home from school and my mum gave me this. Her friend (who's name sadly escapes me) would often import games from America early, so he'd had the game since September. My mum had told him I'd gotten FF7, and he made this little guide for me. As it was pre-internet for me, and because I didn't get the monthly magazines or strategy guides, this was really helpful and just really, really sweet, which is why I've kept it all these years.

Of course what he failed to mention was that upon opening the safe I'd get my shit absolutely wrecked by Lost Number. But the thought was there.

My son found me my own Lookout!

He's very tiny, not sure what bird it belonged to, but he's incredibly cool. My son does gardening for a lady down the road, and he found this while clearing out behind the greenhouse. He doesn't know anything about the Dark Tower so doesn't understand the significance, he just knew I'd think it was cool. Clearly it's ka.

Morphe Force Closing When Patching on Android TV

I have a Sony Bravia 4K VH22. I've installed Morphe with no issues and given it permission to install apps. I've downloaded the suggested YouTube apk, but when I click patch the app force closes. Same happens if I go down the 'I already have an apk' route. Is there any way around this on the TV itself, or is it a case of patching the apk on my phone or PC and sending it to the TV?

Supermarket Car Park

This cuts, like, 5 seconds off the walk. And a trolly would get stuck. Don't ask me how I know.

Dating a prostitute is liking sitting on a warm toilet seat...

It might feel nice, but you can't help but wonder who's been there before you.

Not the update I was hoping for

For the past year the Openrach site has said "We're building in your area" so I've been checking periodically. Had an OR engineer out last week to fix a copper cable fault up the road from me, and he was quite confident my street would be getting FTTP within the next 6 months. Now the website shows this. And now I'm sad.

Best Story Arcs in Marvel?

What are, in your opinion, the best story arcs in Marvel? I don't necessarily mean events like Civil War, or 'banner' periods like Dark Reign or Heroic Age, but something like the Totem period in Spider-Man, or Captain America as Nomad, for example.

Yesterday a man knocked on my front door, around 14:00. I work from home so was there to answer. When I opened the door he was standing 10-feet down the driveway from me. He didn't say anything as I stood there, so I said hi. He then said something like "Hi, I'm Jeremiah, I've got some great cuts of meat and fish in my van, lets go take a look," and started to walk back to his white transit van without waiting for me to say anything. The way he said "Let's go take a look," sounded like a depressed gameshow host. I half shouted "No, I'm good thanks," and he just waved his hand in the air before getting in the van and driving off. I live on a regular residential street with plenty of neighbors, and after checking on the neighbourhood group chat the people who were also home confirmed he hadn't gone to anyone else's house that afternoon. To get ahead of any potential questions; he was white, didn't have a noticeable accent, and didn't look like a traveller. I'm honestly stuck between finding it weirdly funny and being a bit creeped out.
