Why don't WSL teams take more pride in local fans?

This isn't meant as a criticism. Just asking out of curiosity. It seems like fans being from the same city as the team isn't that big of a deal in the WSL as it is in the NWSL. In the NWSL, fans who are from the same city/ state as the club are celebrated. Like Alyssa and Gisele are/ were seen as LA heroes. New expansion teams tend to have fans from that area where possible, and make them the center of attention. They're the fanswho are used heavily in team advertising. Like Lindsey at Denver... almost everything is centered around her (as well as other players from that area like Janine Sonis, who are frequently referenced).

They're used as a focal point for fan engagement. Regarding the new expansion team coming to Atlanta, many NWSL fans have speculated that Croix might be one of their first future signings.

How come we don't see Man Utd talking a lot about fans like Gabby, or something like that?

As we all know, there's only ever been one high profile inquest involving someone called Maddy (seriously reddit this is diabolical)

Welcome back to the June edition of the /r/ArsenalWFC Bookclub! This month's loose theme was "Magic in translation", to be taken however you wanted. Try as I might, I did not finish 'Will and Testament' by Vigdis Hjorth to close the month, but as for the ones that I did finish:

  • 1996: Reflections on the year that changed my life by Tony Adams

  • Being Various: New Irish Short Stories edited by Lucy Caldwell

  • Great Big Beautiful Lie by Emily Henry

  • Before I Knew I Loved You by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

  • Strange Pictures by Uketsu

  • The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami

  • The Soccer War by Ryszard Kapuscinski

  • Love in the Big City by Sang Young Park

  • Death and the Penguin by Andrey Kurkov

What did you read this month (whether it was on theme or not?) Did you not finish any books? Is there anything in July you're looking forward to? July's theme is "A seasonal tale" - Happy Reading!
