This store opened as a Safeway back in the 60s. It has the famous Marina Safeway look that stated in San Francisco and expanded throughout other Safeway markets. Safeway was a major chain in Southern California up until the late 80s when Vons acquired their stores.

This particular Safeway closed in the late 70s/early 80s. It was a parochial school during the 80s/90s then a 99 cent store, and after they went out of business, was briefly abandoned before this new store opens on August 24.

12100 E Colfax Ave, Aurora, CO 80011. The first photo I took was in 2015, and the other images are from Google Street View, documenting the store from 2009 to 2023. In 2009, the building housed Family Dollar and Checker Auto Parts (later O'Reilly Auto Parts). By 2011, the auto parts store had closed, and by 2015 both stores had shut down, with the building fenced off for redevelopment into apartments; however, construction would not begin for several years. As of 2026, apartments are now being built on the site. This video shows the vacant building in 2018.
