My uncle gave me one of the best gifts ever on my birthday: Lite-Bright, made by Hasbro. I used to have so much fun with all cool colors in the dark.

The plastic flying disc known as the Frisbee was officially introduced by the Wham-O toy company on January 23, 1957, when they began production on the aerodynamic design. It evolved from college students tossing metal pie tins from the Frisbie Pie Company.

Hard Rubber “Bouncy Balls”

I remember spending 25¢ at the supermarket in the dispenser machines as a kid, and buying these small rubber balls in the 1970s. My cat loved chasing after the small ones, and would bring them back to me after throwing them. It was a fun time.

Milton Bradley’s “BIG TRAK”

In 1979, Milton Bradley introduced a revolutionary new Sci-Fi, futuristic tank, utility vehicle that was really cool. Half the fun was programming the unit to follow a chain of commands. My former neighbor Johnny had one of these, and told me the Big Track lead him to become a computer programmer for life.

Cigarette Donkey

My father had one of these by his recliner in the living room when I was a kid. You pull the ear, and a cigarette comes out the rear. Classic 1970s.

Pals’ Vitamins

When I was six years-old, my doctor did a blood test on me and said I was anemic. He told my mother that I need more iron in my diet, and recommended Pals’ Vitamins. Along with “liver and onions” once a week. The vitamins were great, but the “liver and onions” was torture.

The Zanti Misfits 1963

The first time I saw this episode in the early 1970s, it totally freaked me out, along with my babysitter. She was really upset. She suffered from entomophobia, which is the fear of insects, and this episode really sent her over the edge.

The Good Humor Man Cometh

In the summertime, the melodious sound of the ice cream truck coming down the street where you lived, was part of a daily ritual in many parts of Canada and the USA. It was a part of growing up that I really miss today.
