Curious who here moved to NYC at some point and who here has lived in NYC their whole lives (not in a gatekeepey way)

Would be interested to hear people’s different backgrounds, experiences, any anything else they feel like sharing.

Idk let’s get to know each other 👉🏻👈🏻

To all my nice / passive / sad people

Sup introverts ✌️
Crowd sourcing and wanted to repost this here.

Tired of being nice? Tired of being passive? Tired of being sad? Tired of being all three of those things?

Try being an asshole instead 🤩

✨Introducing r/ILikeBeingAnAssholeSMD

It’s like Fight Club, but with your words. Sort of. It’s still forming an identity.

The world can be so ass. Life can be so ass. Everything is falling apart around us. It’s okay to feel like you’re crazy and like you need to scream into a pillow.

This is that pillow.

When you need an outlet, or to blow off steam, or some mf’in catharsis, you have a home here.

That’s my pitch I’m done now ._.

What are yalls favorite ways to be an AH? And don’t lie and say you don’t have one

Don’t worry it’s a safe space. You can be a good person and still enjoy being an a hole to people sometimes.

Look I’m just in a certain headspace and want to banter about being an absolute dick head with anyone willing to humor me 🥲

Edit: also seen a lot of posts about making friends. As someone who’s lived here their whole life, yall ain’t making friends it is what it is 😂. Might as well kiki here w me 🤜🏻🤛🏻

How much of an outlier does this make me?

Hope this finds you well. For anyone interested in reading, this is a theory I’ve maintained for a while but never shared with other fans outside my inner circle.

Where the ‘Lore’ / Story Origins is concerned, it is my belief (more or less) that the lore started during the creation or Trench and not during the creation of Blurryface.

My Explanation for this would look something like:

-Blurryface was produced before the idea for the Trench/DEMA/Clancy story was conceived.
-For that reason, BF is more or less ‘independent’ of the lore in how it was created before the story idea came about and was subsequently fleshed out.
-It all started between BF and Trench, not before or during the production of BF.
-Rather than story elements being embedded into the album intentionally and with the lore in mind, the story was built upon/around aspects/elements of BF that were already established.

Not sure what if any type of response or feedback this will get but that’s my piece ✌️🫡

Thoughts on Key Distinctions Between Bi-Gender and NB (aside from the obvious)

Hello all. First time posting here, wanted to hear people’s thoughts on something I’ve tossed around in my head mostly from a personal place.

Quick Note: In case it’s worth mentioning, I’m also admittedly not the most well versed / knowledgeable on many subjects / topics where gender ‘as a whole’ is concerned, but I’m also far from uneducated. I mention this because while I have a solid understanding of the topics at hand, I may be unaware of some things such as the best / most suitable terms. For clarity, (in my title) I’m referring to the idea of “identifying with both ‘genders’” and of “identifying with neither ‘gender’” as in ‘male and female.’ I realize m and f tend to apply to sex and not gender, but I assume most will understand what I mean here (but I’m happy to answer any clarifying questions). That said, please weigh in and / or correct / educate me on anything I say or express here 🙏

My Question/Point: Ultimately I’m curious what others feelings on / experiences with feeling you identify with both genders and neither gender at the same time (or at fluctuating levels). I’d say I’m a pretty open minded, easy going, ‘fluid’ kind of person I guess, in the sense I don’t tend to look at things from a place of seeing things as ‘black or white’ (especially in areas such as this). In my case, I am a cis gendered woman and as such, for all intents and purposes, identity with the sex/gender I was assigned at birth, but especially as of late I’ve wondered if I am indeed ‘cut and dry’ cis gender.

For context, I’d say I have as many ‘feminine’ traits and characteristics as I do ‘masculine’ traits and characteristics. At the same time, I also hold the belief that (for all intents and purposes) there’s truthfully no such thing as ‘masculine or feminine traits’ just ideas and commonly accepted beliefs.

So with the whole ‘two things being able to be true at the same time despite being contradictory’ or the idea of ‘yes this but also this’ makes it somewhat challenging to firmly
gauge where I stand on my own individual gender identity and was eager to see what others had to say or share where replies are concerned.

Either way, thank you to anyone who reads and/or comments 🙏

What’s stopping you from turning your back on conventional beauty standards / disempowering societal standards?

I won’t over explain (happy to answer questions if anyone has any) but I’m a huge proponent of abandoning ones commitment to/beliefs in the standards my title is referring to which are designed to be oppressive and disempowering. I’d love to offer encouragement/advice/support to those who may appreciate it. Share your stories 🫡

Hot Take: ‘that one line from lane boy’ isn’t *that* cringe or problematic.

Always thought this but was suggested a lane boy reaction video on YT and it made me want to come by and post this 😭✌️

Not saying people don’t have the right to dislike and or take issue with things such as this, but idk i just always had the feeling that most of the people posing any variety of criticism of this line are virtue signaling. Thats just how I feel 🤷‍♀️

Idk lmk if you agree or disagree 🥴

Edit: line is ‘I wasn’t raised in the hood but I know a thing or two about pain and darkness’

Not Sure What I’m Doing

Hi, I’m more or less an outsider but wanting to know more. Idk if there’s any etiquette I should be aware of but want to be respectful.
New to this sub and new to wanting to look into attending NA meetings. Not sure whether I should elaborate more, or what I should say if I did, but wanted to start here. Anybody have any words of advice they feel could be helpful? Thanks in advance to anyone who may read or comment and sorry if any of this feels scattered at all.

Hear me out: just like how something can’t be tarnished without being beautiful first, you can’t hate yourself if you don’t love yourself.

Idk it just breaks me heart so many people are suffering through this shit. This is my first time putting it to words granted, but this is my attempt at offering perspective and a sense of hope, in general or in oneself.

People aren’t born ‘hating themselves’ and despite how common it is it is not normal or justified, in any way or the ways that matter.

People don’t hate themselves, they just lost sight of why they love themselves. Self-hatred is often less an absence of self-love than a dysfunctional expression of it. The same part of us that wants us to flourish can become convinced that criticism, shame, and punishment are the only effective means of getting us there.

Self-hatred is frequently grief masquerading as contempt. We don’t attack ourselves because we have ceased to value ourselves; we attack ourselves because we have become painfully aware of the gap between who we are and who we believe we ought to be
