Playback of sped up video is extremely laggy.

Hello, I am trying to speed up a video 10x, but I cant exactly get a feel for the duration of the clip when the playback is lagging. The playback begins to run at a slower rate when I try to review it.(about 16 seconds per real second).

Source video: 1440p 60fps, AV1
OS: Arch
CPU: 5700x
GPU: 9070xt

I am guessing it has to do with hardware decoding (the lack of it).

Help would be much appreciated!

How do people do 2x1 faster than 5 seconds?

I've been trying for a while to get a good time on 2x1 but most I can get is 5.80. I am seriously hoping that there is a tech I don't know about and that it isn't a skill issue, since I'm nearing my mechanical limit.

I know that a second or two off my 2x1 isnt going to cost me a run, but I'd still like to be able to flex on my friend who's also into mcsr lol

Is 1440p on 4k worth it for just having a 4k panel when you need it?

So I was checking out monitors and I thought that I might upgrade to a 4k panel. Although I am afraid that I will have to lower my resolution in some games (I would prefer it over lowering graphics since It's a 27 inch panel anyways). Since 1440 isnt divisable by 2160, like 1080 is I am worried that it games will look A LOT worse on the 4k monitor. But does anyone have any experience with this? How does 1440p look on a 4k panel? (of course it will be worse than a native 1440p panel, but is it acceptable enough to justify having 4k?)

Thanks and have a nice day

Where are the end city guides

I want to learn the end city raiding strats, but I genuinely cannot find any sources for that. Whenever I search for it the results just get flooded with end fight guides. And the only end city guides I found are just the obvious stuff without any actual strats.

Ty in advance and have a nice day!

▲ 2 r/obs

Obs recording is more choppy than it should be.

[SOLVED]
I'm trying to record some stuff with obs, but the recording is a lot more choppy than 60 fps. I am running wayland and have tried all of the encoding options, none of them fix things.

My specs are the following:
OS: Arch linux
GPU: 9070 xt
CPU: 5700x
OBS ver: 32.2.0

Relevant settings in the output -> recording tab
Recording settings

Recording format: .mkv
video encoder: FFmpeg VAAPI AV1

Encoder settings

Level: auto
Rate control: CBR
Bitrate: 60000 kbps

If I missed mentioning something lmk.
https://obsproject.com/logs/vH2nZOsJrto4Nltb

FIX:
Launching obs like this:
PIPEWIRE_LATENCY=64/48000 obs
fixes the issue for me. You can make obs always launch like this if you change your application file in /usr/share/applications/

OpenGL crashes

While I was playing minecraft with shaders on my game crashed with the following errors:
[12:15:21] [Render thread/INFO]: Resizing Dynamic Transforms UBO, capacity limit of 32 reached during a single frame. New capacity will be 64.

[12:15:21] [Thread-25/INFO]: OpenGL debug message: id=112, source=API, type=ERROR, severity=HIGH, message='GL_INVALID_OPERATION in glUniform(program not linked)'

amdgpu: The CS has cancelled because the context is lost. This context is innocent.
I thought this could be a fluke, so I just started my instance again. But it crashed again, and again.

I just use the mesa-git package from the AUR for my GPU drivers.

I have a 9070xt, a 5700x, an SSD and 32GB of ram.

I use mangowm on wayland.

This started happening recently after an update.

Help is much appreciated!

CachyOS stutters A LOT

I was using vanilla arch, and decided to try out CachyOS because of the gaming benefits. I install it without a DE and installed mangowm myself, since I do not want cachy's configs. Then I started up deep rock galactic. It was smooth from time to time, but stutters quite badly at times. Vanilla arch didn't stutter at all. I'm using the same configs for mangowm so it couldn't be vrr or something like that. I also have no other processes running in the background. I am using GE proton 11-1.

Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance!

What does enabling HDR in games even do?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but what does it do?

Shouldn't the display show true blacks when the pixel is black?

or does enabling HDR add support for higher brightness?

Is playit.gg the best there is?

I'm planning on self hosting but would rather not port forwarding it.

So I came across playit.gg and was wondering if there are any better alternatives.

Also, how much is the ping loss when using the premium version on a server about 1000 km away? or if there is any. (assuming my internet has <1ms ping)

Help would be much appreciated!

Are bespoke minecraft server hosts better than just a cloud vm?

I'm looking to host a server for a bunch of friends (probably around 8-10 people) and cannot self-host it as my parents will not let me port forward (it can cause compromises in security)

So I'm searching for alternatives.

Should I pay for a minecraft server host or a cloud VM?

I realize that I could also pay for playit.gg

Which is the best option in your opinion?

Answers would be much appreciated!

Are there any good server modpacks?

I'll be self-hosting a server, but I'd like to add some optimization mods.

That's why I would like to know if there are any for 26.1.2

I know of the mods: lithium, ferrite core and c2me, but I don't know if that'll be enough.

foot terminal loses its transparency

I use mangowc and foot

I decided to switch to yazi, so I added the following line to my config:

bind=alt+shift,f,spawn,foot bash -ic yazi

I didnt just run foot yazi, since I wanted my pywal colorscheme to stay. When I run this command myself it works perfectly. However whenever I use my new keybind if I have a terminal open, it loses its transparency. I decided to try this on another terminal: alacritty. This does not happen there. But I dont like alacritty so I'd rather stay on foot.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

How can I limit paru/yay ram usage?

I'm trying to install davinci resolve via the aur (paru), but my ram gets bottlenecked in the compilation process and my window manager starts using swap which is not ideal since it starts lagging a ton and I have to terminate the process at 2spf (seconds per frame)

So how can I limit the ram usage on paru? When I search this online I just find windows guides or just how to decrease ram usage on arch.

Help would be much appreciated

(also I think this is the correct subreddit to post this to, if there is a more suitable one, please tell me.)

I decided to dual boot windows with my linux install, however my microphone does not work.

This happened on linux too, but I fixed it by changing the capture device to use the rear input (where my mic is) and not the front in alsamixer.

However I have absolutely no idea how to do this in windows.

If I wasnt clear please ask, I'll try to respond asap

My OS build is 26200.8037

And my motherboard is a gigabyte aorux b550i (which I'm guessing is the culprit)

configuration {

display-drun: "";

font: "CaskaydiaCove Nerd Font 15";

}

@"~/.cache/wal/colors-rofi-dark.rasi"

* {

background: transparent;

border-radius: 6;

}

element {

padding: 6;

}

entry {

placeholder: "";

padding: 6;

}

window {

padding: 6 0 6 0;

width: 20%;

background-color: rgba(13,19,21, 0.8);

}

listview {

scrollbar: false;

columns: 1;

lines: 5;

}

Currently I have changed the background color manually in the window section

background-color: rgba(13,19,21, 0.8);

But I dont want it to be with numbers but colors from the import. If hex had the same thing as rgba:

background-color: u/background 0.8``;

Ignore the u/background. It's supposed to be @ background (without the space).

I had grappled with this problem before but didn't come up with a solution.

I would greatly appreciate help on this matter!
