Hi, I am a 2026 graduate from Goa campus. I could not sit for placements due to personal reasons.

My profile: 6 months of buy side equity research experience, finance minor, CFA L1 cleared.

Looking for anything in the finance domain. Even product/founders office roles are fine. Open to Offline/Online work. (ready to work unpaid in Mumbai)

What is up with today's bosses?

The first boss I had was a piece of work.

They want you to have advanced excel knowledge, power point knowledge, how to operate email, and literally every tool on the planet. Like wtf man? Lay off me, go tell your Claude to do all this stuff. They treat you the same way they treat Claude, like a slave. Like you are their personal butler.

Once their Claude tokens are over, they come to you and say, pls fix. Like wtf.

Left his company for another one, after interning for 3 weeks. Gave 2 days notice and left in one day before. Hate him with all my might.

Another boss i had, expected me to do analyst level work while i was still working as an intern. He gave me stuff and told me to figure it out and submit a proper report in 3 days. i literally had no experience in that field, yet bro is giving me work like I am going to magically create something good. He didn't even give me proper research reports for reference. I just used Claude, then when he sees the report, he says use your own brain and this and that. Its a remote opportunity so i just mute the meeting and do my work.

And the money they are paying you is some sort of sacrifice from their side. They earn big fat salaries and give us peanuts and expect you to keep working like Victorian era children working in the coal mines.

Better to protect your peace, avoid such people and interact with them as little as possible. Do work just good enough to stay in a place and not get fired.

my_qualifications: B.E in electronics and communication from BITS Goa. Planning on getting into quant finance in a university abroad. Have a 9/9/7 profile. CGPA is a bit low, will try to compensate by giving GMAT next month.

Have equity research internship experience and currently doing fixed income research internship.

My question is: has anyone in this sub gone for a MSc quant finance or a MSc finance degree. Would require some help regarding the process. Could you dm?

My focus is mainly on interns and jobs. I feel a lot of people dont get enough chances because the company is not willing to give them a chance. This is because the company says that they have enough people working already.

I have a solution for them, hire extra interns. Lets say you have physical capacity of 10 extra people but actually wanna have 2 interns for a longer period. Hire all 10 for 2 weeks. Give them various tasks related to the job. Mark them on the basis of their work, responsivness, and other factors necessary for the job.

the most hardworking interns would naturally get the job.

for the company, it can get its excess work done.

for the people, they get some experience as to what the role is, whether they would like to do it or not.

at the end of the 2 weeks, find the best 5 people, let other 5 go. give top 2 the offer, if they dont accept, you have 3 backups.

if all of them dont wanna join, i guess there is a problem in your company.

lets say the 3 others which were also good, you can give them a call when someone leaves suddenly, or off cycle hiring for internship and then job. since they worked hard during the 2 weeks, you are giving them the first calls.

money given: depends on company.

i think this is a much better way than giving assignments and judging people. sometimes people are busy, cant do assignments, they dont know work culture, team and other stuff.

plus this way, people wont have to sit at home, especially new grads/college students. Its also beneficial if they can utilise college students 2-3 weeks of holidays between semesters.

Planning on getting a front office trader role.

Also my study abroad counselor had suggested UK, Ireland and France.

I did some of my own research and found that in the UK, it is next to impossible to get a work visa.

I also did some digging around and found out Amsterdam, Germany, Denmark, Dubai are a few viable options, after doing my degree in the UK ,since UK universities are in the top 100.

Probably wont go to UK if i don't get into a good enough college.

Although its a show, I always wondered a few things about Claire.

Claire and Phil have a great marriage. They have three kids, a great house, Phil has a great job, Claire works in her dad's closet company.

A few questions in my mind.

1. Once Phil talks about Claire and her ex boyfriends. Something about them being so many that every time he leaves the house he runs into one of them. I am sure its exagerrated for comedic purposes, but if your wife had so many exes, how would you stay sane? won't you be worried that she might have an affair? or divorce you?

2. Is it really possible to date/marry someone with a long history of ex boyfriends, while you've had 2-3 girlfriends at max?

How does the it work?

Aren't you worried that this person might not be attached to you as deeply as you are to them? or worried that the other person is used to multiple partners, what if they have issues? or are a cheater? what if they cheat on me?

3. I like the fact that she changes so much after her marriage. She becomes a mom, then starts working , while juggling three kids (especially keeping Luke alive). Do transformations like this happen in real life?

I am planning on getting into Trading/supporting office roles. Trading as in trading bonds or equity in at a bank.

Eventually I want to be working in front office sales and trading in a big bank in Singapore/Sydney.

Any other jobs, where I can switch to international posting?

What are some local colleges where companies come for this type of placement? Any idea?
