Alternative ways to buy tickets?

I'm blind and trying to find the easiest way to buy tickets / pay for transit, as the go website and the E ticket page isn't very screen reader accessible. I know there is the gotrack app for looking at train and bus times (I wish you could set it to only trains) but you can not book trips in there, just view. I could tap on and off at stations however this requires extra negotiations with staff or other civilians to find the machines and does add more time to my trips. I just want an online / mobile way to pay for trips that does not require I get sighted assistance simply to fill in the to and from station boxes. It is very frustrating relying on other people for a task that should take approximately 5 seconds normally. I have no problem with the E tickets, I just wish it were possible to fill in the to and from stations with my screen reader. I could contact metrolinx, but where in hell would that lead me? Is it possible to pay for trips ahead of time using the presto app, perhaps? I already use presto in apple wallet when I need it, but I suppose grabbing the dedicated app wouldn't hurt, if its a workaround. If somebody would be willing to write an app that allows buying of tickets, I'd fucking pay for it. I'm not sure if such things are possible, since many apps exist and so far as I know none allow this. But its worth asking. Please, I'd appreciate any help or suggestions anyone can provide. I love the go, but the website absolutely sucks. Edit: added some clarification about E tickets.

Saw rush the other night what a godly show

I saw rush the other night and it was a religious experience. Felt like I transcended hearing 2112 in person while high as fuck on edibles and drunk on good beer. I never thought I'd see rush ever since neil peart died I thought their time was past but nope. What a time. Anika can shred too. Fucked up some of the subdivisions fills and a few other songs but I aint complaining neils parts are hard to do. Geddi can't quite hit the notes anymore but I don't even care. Great show.

Go transit in toronto

I'm not sure how many from toronto or nearby in Ontario, canada are around here, but do those of you that exist take go transit? The website is a pain. Perhaps its better on a computer, but on ios, trying to fill in the to and from boxes is god awful. Open the combobox, type the first few letters, touch around for the stop in the list, and the box closes. I suppose this is a more general combobox question on safari with voiceover, rather than this specific site, but are there other ways to deal with these? Vertical navigation in the roter, perhaps? Screen Recognition did not seem to work in this case. Theres been a few websites I've had issues like this, but taking transit is obviously important for us so this is a rather frustrating one for me. Not to mention viewing the stops on a given train line also seems to be impossible too....

Silent alarms are better than having alarm tones

Lately I've been setting my phone alarm to no sound and just vibrate, I didn't even realize you could do that but it is so amazing being woken up by a gentle vibration rather than a shitty ringtone screaming at you. Just put your phone on do not disturb next to you on the bed, and let the vibration wake you when the alarm goes. Or if its on a chair or table next to you, it'll vibrate through it, still better than a ringtone. I will be doing this from now on I think.

I want to transfer my wix made website somewhere else, whats the best way to do this?

I'm blind and wix is not screen reader accessible. I had somebody design a site for me a while back, but now she's out of my life so I have control of it, but can't use it. I'd like to, though, and avoid paying anybody else, at least for a while til I need the help. Regardless of whether I go to word press or simply write a basic site using html and css, is transferring the domain difficult to do? I already pay for my domain name of course, wouldn't it just be a matter of pointing the dns to a new site and quietly shutting the old one down? How long would the transfer take though and how cumbersome would such a process be. Or is there a better way to do this? Thanks very much.

Considering law school, but would love some honest advice

If this isn't the sub, forgive me. Would love to hear from some of you law students or lawyers, though. Heres my situation: I went to Berklee and got a music degree in 2023. But I've been feeling kinda like its worthless lately, as I can't get a job. I know the market is bad though, and I'm also blind, so surely that plays a part as well, but I've been unlucky there. I quite enjoy the lsat though, the logical reasoning stuff in particular I enjoy figuring out. I know that law school is not the lsat, however, so I'm not sure if I'd actually like it or not. I ultimately just want a day job that I can clock in, do my thing, leave and live my life. I already know I wouldn't wanna work in big law, since spending 14 hours a day at the office does not appeal to me. But I feel like having a law degree on its own would open the door for multiple opportunities you otherwise don't get. Hell, the music industry is in shambles, somebodys gotta fight for our rights as artists. Copyright law is something I've thought about, that or contract. I'm a cross country skier as well though, and really planning to go for the next paralympics, so going back to school I know would be a massive commitment and could very well get in the way of that too. I know that going the paralegal root is also an option, but I don't know much about how it even differs other than you obviously aren't as qualified as an attorney. But I've also heard some people become paralegals and then go to law school after, so I've wondered about doing that instead of going right into law school to see if I actually like the work. Curious what your thoughts are. I've heard people say going to law school because you need a job is a bad idea lol, so I worry I'm going into it for the wrong reasons, since my lifes passion is not to be a lawyer, I'm simply opened to it and I gotta do something, since music isn't getting me anywhere at the moment.

[Punisher] Why were his family killed in the first place, anyway?

Maybe I missed something in daredevil or the punisher show, but wasn't he just a marine then went home and shortly after his family were shot up at the carnival? Had he already been going after gangs while in the military? The irish biker guys seemed to indicate that he had, but considering he didn't start well, punishing til his family were murdered, what was he up to before that had him involved with mafia guys?

How long after you're out of a long term relationship is it socially acceptable to start seeing other people?

In short, I was in roughly a 2.5 year relationship that ended just over a month ago. It was a bit drawn out and I'd premeditated the eventual ending for a bit of time before it actually did, knowing it was coming. However from the outside in its just over a month and I'm on the apps talking to people. I'm not at all in a rush to be with someone I'm just enjoying meeting people and I know that I'll find someone when I do. And I've yet to actually go on any dates so its purely digital. I've been talking to one girl for a week or so though and while things aren't moving very quick at all I don't think she or I are going separate ways any time soon. But is it weird to be out of a long term relationship and sorta back in the game relatively soon? I don't wanna give anyone the wrong impression. I'm not a hookup kinda guy and I never have been, I was just in a relationship and we didn't work so I (we) ended it. I'm not committed to anyone yet just kinda chillin enjoying life. But I'm also worried the topic of relationships will come up and like I said I don't wanna give anyone the wrong impression.

Any older blind people here? What was life like for you in the 70s or 80s.

I was born blind in 01. I know a tun of other blind people, but anyone I know who's gen x or older went blind later in life. I'm curious how life was like before screen readers, and before most of the transit systems in cities talked.

Last relationship of 2.5 years ended, (im a guy) came back to dating apps what the fuck happened bro.

All these girls who just literally don't ask any questions, only 1 word answers like I'm a fucking interviewer. Plus the 'pay to play' options have gotten worse too, bumble now has like 2 dollar super swipes, 2 dollars per swipe and no single swipe option available so you gotta pay like 40 bucks. I don't care for super swipes at all, but I swear that wasn't a thing before all the same. Hinge are ok, probably the only app worth using, but why the fuck can't you set your location to ask where you are. Why's it gotta be my fucking home town lol. I recognize this could be an issue on my end, however. Anyways fuck dating apps, being single is better til I meet a girl out somewhere.

How many 6 or 7 month old babies would it take to defeat a grown adult male?

Man is of average height: 6-0 and about 175 pounds. Fight takes place in a house living room, since thats usually where babies of such age reside. The babies are all crying, flailing and screaming and in fits of rage. They do not have the mental capacity to intend to harm they are simply overwhelming the adult with sheer numbers. How many would do it? R1: no weapons or baby toys, only bare hands and body strength / weight. R2: the babies can make use of any chewy ring toys / mobiles in the vicinity, the man can use whatever household objects are around (IE): tv remotes, couch pillows etc, to try and fight them off. Bonus round: the babies are aware they must kill the man and actively try to do so. Adult minds in baby bodies, shall we say. Does this change the numbers?

Any way to see a yearly total of hours for workouts?

I am on watch OS 10.6.2 on an SE, on ios 18.6 as well. I can see monthly totals, but I can't see a year. I am trying to see hours trained over a yearly period and wondering if its possible to select a time range to do so, or to see a preset range like perhaps January to January at the very least. Is such filtering possible? Or do I have to calculate manually.

Fully blind runner seeking a guide to run with

I'm blind and run a fair amount. I'm a cross country skier and do it as offseason or summer training. I have outrun all my previous guides and am now too fast to run any real distances with them. I run sub6 minute kilometers currently, I ran 4k yesterday in 23-06. I've run the brampton half marathon a couple times now and am hoping to improve my time in the following year. If there are any runners around, send me a pm. I'm happy to talk more about guiding specifics.

I keep dreaming about my ex how do I stop this?

Its not making moving on any easier. In the day I feel largely fine but then last night I had a dream we were on vacation together talking and we were gonna get back together or something I don't really remember all the details but I was crying in the dream then woke up thinking of her. I still love her but I don't actually want us to get back together, it was a mutual decision how do I stop this? And last night wasn't the first either I took a nap recently too and had a dream I was texting her and a few other nights of dreams as well. I know it was a long time, over 2 years together so its gonna be a minute but still this is bothering me lol. Help?

My relationship simply ran its course, and it taught me a lot, including protecting my own peace

Had a breakup last week. After a few days of sadness I made peace with it, and am now realizing it was needed. You can't keep trying to make something work at the cost of your own happiness. You've gotta protect your peace. I loved what we had. It was great while it lasted. Had some bad moments, especially closer to the end, but I regret nothing. I'm quite excited, and feeling freer now, to focus on myself and fill my time simply with things I enjoy, and hanging with family and friends. Onward and upward, folks. 🍻👌

Have a background music hotel gig coming up, any tips?

Haven't really done a gig like this before, but I'll take anything at this point. It seems chill too just playing and not having to worry too much about engaging the crowd, that'll be new. I figure since that is indeed the case I could do a lot of jamming / improv over progressions rather than strictly sticking to a setlist, since nobodys gonna really be paying attention and I'm just filling the space. I have a looper I often use so figured I'd use that and stretch things out (I'm a guitarist). To anyone who's done a gig like this before, any advice? I did do a wedding gig once where things were delayed so I played for an extra hour without stopping, so this idea isn't entirely new to me, though only the second time I'm doing it. I typically sing and play, so I'm trying to arrange some of the songs I already do to be instrumental rather than simply playing the chords. And I do know a few jazz standards in chord melody format, so thats not a problem either.

Would you rather have endless cash for life, but live alone and never get to see your family or friends again, or live with your family but have no money and your basic needs are magically provided for?

For the first option, you get a duffle bag of cash ach morning that appears at the foot of your bed, with 10000 dollars each morning. You must live life as a normal person, use that money however you choose etc, but you can not see your family or even speak to them again. And for the second, you must live with your family, you're always with them but you can't get a job and you can't buy anything. You have no money and must be provided for by family. However your basic needs are always magically met; always food in the fridge, taxes are paid and so on. Basically you can live a normal life, provided you mooch off your family for any wants, and needs are taken care of, as above.

Considering how laughable privacy is nowadays anyway, is this a real possibility? Or is it definitely confirmed. Reason I ask is I had a dream last night I was working for the FBI and watching regular peoples facetime calls for some reason, and saw one of my own lol. So it got me thinking. Obviously they wouldn't care to watch the majority of people, but is everything recorded all the same?
