Been listening to some of the pop country side of things as of late, not entirely sure why or how it started, but here we are, and I'm real curious about the editing and mixing processes down there. I know the vocals are completely tuned to hell, I can hear the artifacts in Morgan Wallens voice, to give one example. Its well established lots of those guys can't sing for shit, but what of the drums? I know lots of it is triggers, but do they even bother recording the drums at all anymore? I remember the story of Chris Stapletons cover of Tennessee whiskey, where the drum booth door was opened and it wasn't meant to be recorded etc etc, but was good so they kept it, but even those drums don't sound real. I can hear a bit of room in the snare, but not really in anything else. Less than I'd expect had I never heard the song just heard that story. And guitars, do they quantize the shit out of those too? Drums sure, bass yeah, sometimes they do. But some of these guitar strumming patterns are so locked in, are we seriously doing that? Morgan Wallens "I'm the problem" as one example, the intro is fucked. Or Dylan Scott "I hate whiskey". I'm aware of surgically comping guitar chords together to make a progression sound better, (i don't do it but a professor at berklee was adamant we should) but quantizing a fucking finger pick pattern? Not really sure how I ended up writing such a novel. I only really wanted to come here and ask if anybody here ever worked on a country record in nashville as of late, or where ever that stuff ends up being mixed if not there, and could tell me whats going on. Guitarists all use amp modelers, are the drums all programmed now too in superior or something?

I did some brief research and it seems like you can't delete old projects? Does that mean your computer just clogs up with crap? I guess I could delete the repos, but wouldn't that cause the projects to go haywire like daws do when they search for missing plugins? Edit: found a well hidden remove project button and trashed my repo. I think it worked?

I have this table in a word document to enter info in. It says things like so and so, spans 3 collums. But when I tab or use control alt arrows, it seems to jump to the next item 3 or however many collums over. Has anybody ever filled out forms in word documents? And how do you do it. Is jaws better for this?

So, I mainly mix at home. Use ableton, occasionally logic or even rarer open reaper. I jumped ship from pro tools years ago. I love the ableton stock stuff, and more often than not, they get me where I wanna go. I'm debating uninstalling most plugins and just using the live stuff. Of course, virtual instruments are not really included in this, as I have a few I use regularly. Outside of that, though, sure. They can all go. I mainly came to this conclusion because I've been telling any other audio nerds the past year or 2 that if I were buying a new computer to use for audio stuff, or advising anyone getting into it, I'd just install live 12 and use that in its 5gb of glory. This is what I use, but honestly whatever the daw is, I feel like that argument still would hold for me. Less is more I guess. I'm curious if anybody here is only doing mixes with stock plugs, I know its reddit so we all feel like we'd be judged without decapitator on every mix, but I feel like theres also a lot of us here who just do what sounds good and stick to it in the same way we don't update to the latest OS to not break a perfectly working system. Nobody can tell listening to finished mixes what plugins you use, anyway. Not usually. Not the guy listening on a bluetooth speaker.

I am trying to record using voice memos while wearing my meta glasses. I want to record from the phones mic (it sounds better) but it defaults to the external mic of the glasses. Is there any way to change this? Im on ios 18.6. Thanks all.

Am applying to the law clerk program at humber and it has start dates for both september and january. Considering you can choose up to 5 on an application, I clicked both start dates. It didn't stop me from doing it, so I assume this is ok to do? I figure since september is so close, if for some reason I don't get in for it, I'd have already applied to january in the same go. Is there any reasons not to do this I should be aware of? Thanks.

Like if I'm a musician but also have law clerking experience, or some other entirely unrelated thing, would it beneficial to have one resume for each? One with entirely performance experience, the other with clerk work? Unless you're just getting entry level jobs I guess, then what would you do if you're just trying to break into a field. I know some people talk about having job specific resumes so I'm curious what you guys think about that over here.

I'm debating between the law clerk program here or the accelerated one at Seneca, though that one seems sketchier. But both are still opened for september which I find surprising given its so close. How many classes do you take a semester? And do any professors hold classes online or is it pretty much all in person. I don't mind I live close enough to humber north, but still online never hurts lol if some is on there. I can't find much on it, so figured I may as well ask here. Has anyone taken it? Was it good, and how easy was it to find work after?

I am considering doing a law clerk program, I considered law school and studied for the lsat for quite a while, but after lots of reflection I think thats way too much for the life I want, I don't love the idea of not having a life outside of work lol. I know many blind lawyers exist, but I'm curious about law clerks? Isn't it mostly admin work and drafting documents? Must not be bad for us screen reader users, right? Is the challenge of blindness more or less difficult for clerks vs attorneys?

I see it starts september 8th, but I can't see a deadline to apply. However it still says opened so I'm considering going for it, if not then january. Is this way too soon? Can one apply in 2 weeks? Or should I wait til winter. Law clerk seems like a reasonable alternative to law school, or at the very least a way to gain experience in the legal world.

I'm blind myself, but I grew up with pro tools and logic and so on. I can record myself fine with screen readers. In the 70s tho this dude had nothing but tape and consoles that don't obviously talk. I know stevie produced and even mixed some records supposedly, but how much was him and how much was him telling engineers what to do? Same with synths, did he memorize the layout of tonto or were his boys helping him get the sounds he wanted. Has this guy ever been seen with a cane even? Or does he just have people lead him around lol. Always wondered that. I know ray charles absolutely refused to use a cane but I've heard nothing about stevies usage or lack there of, lol.

I'm blind and trying to find the easiest way to buy tickets / pay for transit, as the go website and the E ticket page isn't very screen reader accessible. I know there is the gotrack app for looking at train and bus times (I wish you could set it to only trains) but you can not book trips in there, just view. I could tap on and off at stations however this requires extra negotiations with staff or other civilians to find the machines and does add more time to my trips. I just want an online / mobile way to pay for trips that does not require I get sighted assistance simply to fill in the to and from station boxes. It is very frustrating relying on other people for a task that should take approximately 5 seconds normally. I have no problem with the E tickets, I just wish it were possible to fill in the to and from stations with my screen reader. I could contact metrolinx, but where in hell would that lead me? Is it possible to pay for trips ahead of time using the presto app, perhaps? I already use presto in apple wallet when I need it, but I suppose grabbing the dedicated app wouldn't hurt, if its a workaround. If somebody would be willing to write an app that allows buying of tickets, I'd fucking pay for it. I'm not sure if such things are possible, since many apps exist and so far as I know none allow this. But its worth asking. Please, I'd appreciate any help or suggestions anyone can provide. I love the go, but the website absolutely sucks. Edit: added some clarification about E tickets.

I saw rush the other night and it was a religious experience. Felt like I transcended hearing 2112 in person while high as fuck on edibles and drunk on good beer. I never thought I'd see rush ever since neil peart died I thought their time was past but nope. What a time. Anika can shred too. Fucked up some of the subdivisions fills and a few other songs but I aint complaining neils parts are hard to do. Geddi can't quite hit the notes anymore but I don't even care. Great show.

I'm not sure how many from toronto or nearby in Ontario, canada are around here, but do those of you that exist take go transit? The website is a pain. Perhaps its better on a computer, but on ios, trying to fill in the to and from boxes is god awful. Open the combobox, type the first few letters, touch around for the stop in the list, and the box closes. I suppose this is a more general combobox question on safari with voiceover, rather than this specific site, but are there other ways to deal with these? Vertical navigation in the roter, perhaps? Screen Recognition did not seem to work in this case. Theres been a few websites I've had issues like this, but taking transit is obviously important for us so this is a rather frustrating one for me. Not to mention viewing the stops on a given train line also seems to be impossible too....

Lately I've been setting my phone alarm to no sound and just vibrate, I didn't even realize you could do that but it is so amazing being woken up by a gentle vibration rather than a shitty ringtone screaming at you. Just put your phone on do not disturb next to you on the bed, and let the vibration wake you when the alarm goes. Or if its on a chair or table next to you, it'll vibrate through it, still better than a ringtone. I will be doing this from now on I think.

I'm blind and wix is not screen reader accessible. I had somebody design a site for me a while back, but now she's out of my life so I have control of it, but can't use it. I'd like to, though, and avoid paying anybody else, at least for a while til I need the help. Regardless of whether I go to word press or simply write a basic site using html and css, is transferring the domain difficult to do? I already pay for my domain name of course, wouldn't it just be a matter of pointing the dns to a new site and quietly shutting the old one down? How long would the transfer take though and how cumbersome would such a process be. Or is there a better way to do this? Thanks very much.

If this isn't the sub, forgive me. Would love to hear from some of you law students or lawyers, though. Heres my situation: I went to Berklee and got a music degree in 2023. But I've been feeling kinda like its worthless lately, as I can't get a job. I know the market is bad though, and I'm also blind, so surely that plays a part as well, but I've been unlucky there. I quite enjoy the lsat though, the logical reasoning stuff in particular I enjoy figuring out. I know that law school is not the lsat, however, so I'm not sure if I'd actually like it or not. I ultimately just want a day job that I can clock in, do my thing, leave and live my life. I already know I wouldn't wanna work in big law, since spending 14 hours a day at the office does not appeal to me. But I feel like having a law degree on its own would open the door for multiple opportunities you otherwise don't get. Hell, the music industry is in shambles, somebodys gotta fight for our rights as artists. Copyright law is something I've thought about, that or contract. I'm a cross country skier as well though, and really planning to go for the next paralympics, so going back to school I know would be a massive commitment and could very well get in the way of that too. I know that going the paralegal root is also an option, but I don't know much about how it even differs other than you obviously aren't as qualified as an attorney. But I've also heard some people become paralegals and then go to law school after, so I've wondered about doing that instead of going right into law school to see if I actually like the work. Curious what your thoughts are. I've heard people say going to law school because you need a job is a bad idea lol, so I worry I'm going into it for the wrong reasons, since my lifes passion is not to be a lawyer, I'm simply opened to it and I gotta do something, since music isn't getting me anywhere at the moment.

Maybe I missed something in daredevil or the punisher show, but wasn't he just a marine then went home and shortly after his family were shot up at the carnival? Had he already been going after gangs while in the military? The irish biker guys seemed to indicate that he had, but considering he didn't start well, punishing til his family were murdered, what was he up to before that had him involved with mafia guys?

In short, I was in roughly a 2.5 year relationship that ended just over a month ago. It was a bit drawn out and I'd premeditated the eventual ending for a bit of time before it actually did, knowing it was coming. However from the outside in its just over a month and I'm on the apps talking to people. I'm not at all in a rush to be with someone I'm just enjoying meeting people and I know that I'll find someone when I do. And I've yet to actually go on any dates so its purely digital. I've been talking to one girl for a week or so though and while things aren't moving very quick at all I don't think she or I are going separate ways any time soon. But is it weird to be out of a long term relationship and sorta back in the game relatively soon? I don't wanna give anyone the wrong impression. I'm not a hookup kinda guy and I never have been, I was just in a relationship and we didn't work so I (we) ended it. I'm not committed to anyone yet just kinda chillin enjoying life. But I'm also worried the topic of relationships will come up and like I said I don't wanna give anyone the wrong impression.
