Finally got a properly made TB taco!

Got this beauty when I was in Wales, of all places. Shell was fully intact. Lettuce not full of diarrhea inducing organisms. Meat the correct amount. I have not had a hard taco with an unbroken shell in years. The shells here in America are way more narrow so they break as soon as they try to fill them. They used to look like these. Thank you to the crew at the TB in Newport Wales for this lovely taco!

Goodbye Lord Fluffmo Sterling…

Lord Fluffmo Sterling (né Fluff) came to me in 2023. He was only supposed to be with me for a few months, but life decided he should stay.

He was completely deaf and hated my other cats, so he had his own room for quite a while. Then I didn’t like that he was probably lonely, so I let him live in my bedroom.

The few occasions he escaped (due to me not paying attention to the fact that the door hadn’t latched all the way), he went after the others. That is how he became the most expensive cat I’ve ever had. Between his trip to the emergency vet in Rhode Island for a bite that had become an abscess, to my own trip to the human ER because he bit my arm when I tried to stop him from going after Penny (can’t exactly yell “Leave your sister alone!”at a deaf cat), he cost me a few grand.

He liked to lay on my pillow and eat my hair.

When he was happy, he almost seemed to talk with his tail.

I loved waking him up after work so I could hear his surprised meows when he saw me.

He loved to be up close and in my business while I tried to watch tv.

He often slept on the pillow next to me, which apparently required him to walk directly over my face while I was trying to sleep.

He didn’t care for treats or catnip. All he wanted was to be brushed. Boy did he love being brushed!

A couple of weeks ago I reached over to pet his face and it felt different. I looked and one side was swollen. There was a lump and it didn’t feel like it had fluid in it.

He was too spicy at the vet so they sent him home with antibiotics in case it was an abscessed tooth, with the instructions that he would need to be sedated for an exam and that I’d know by that weekend if the medicine was working. It wasn’t.

I took him in Wednesday, fully expecting the news wouldn’t be good. They called me to let me know he had squamous cell carcinoma.

It’s incredibly fast growing and his age and his previous living situation didn’t help matters. They asked if I wanted to put him down there, but I couldn’t.

I called the traveling vet, who came today and ended his pain in the comfort of the room he’d known as his home just a few years ago. I had his head in my lap and gave him pets and love even after he was gone. Lord Fluffmo Sterling can rest now. And he can finally hear the birds sing.

Meal Boston to Heathrow Main Cabin

Does anyone know what the meals they serve in the main cabin on the Logan to Heathrow flight? I was hoping to see what the other options consist of. I’ll be flying a redeye to London in a few days. TIA.

New window bed holds up

Bought two window beds at Aldi recently and finally installed one. Penny was the first one to try it out. Holds at least 16 lbs!

She’s a beauty!

Ordered on my way to work tonight. Picked this up and am very happy with how it looks and tastes! Best pizza I’ve picked up from them so far! Also was able to get a few packets of parm to add to the crust later. Best bang for my buck!

TP at my job!

Came into work tonight and saw these on our digital bulletin board. Unfortunately for me, the bistro isn’t open on my shift. Really wanted to hear the TP trivia!

On the hunt for expedition flavors. Spotted the Boston Iced Tea Party and chatted up the vendor.

This is the benefit of working 40 minutes away from the Polar plant:

Got out of work this morning and headed north to the closest Market Basket in search of expedition flavors. I saw the vendor and asked him about them and he mentioned that Shaws had one of the exclusive flavors.

He showed me the new Boston Iced Tea Party cans and bottles. He said the label had Orson Washington as well as a female Orson in a teacup. I snagged a box of cans and two 1 liters, among other things.

I drove north to Shaws (most ratchet Shaws I’ve ever seen) and located the Island Blueberry. I saw that the liters were on sale. 88¢ each when you buy 5, so I grabbed a few of those.

Market Basket has by far the best selection of Polar I’ve ever seen. Anyone else live in decent proximity to a seltzer plant? I’d love to see what other regions have for sale.

Fiddlehead Recipes

So I stumbled upon some fiddleheads for sale at my local grocery store. I’ve never seen them for sale but I knew they were edible. I bought enough for one person because I figured I’d give them a try. Anyone have a delicious recipe for them that doesn’t require expensive ingredient? TIA.

Found at my local Stop & Shop. Eager to try the chili lime pineapple.

I haven’t heard good things about this flavor but I’m gonna try it. Also snagged a case of the clementine bramble
Expedition flavor, a case of lemon, and two cases of pink apple lemon.

Saw this Polar Seltzer truck on my way home from work yesterday morning. I wanted to follow him because I just know he had pink apple and lemon aplenty in there!

I work nights, and Lord Fluffmo lives in my room because he will not tolerate other cats. He’s also completely deaf, so I wake him up by touch. He always seems surprised to see me.
