1/2, $700 deep: Bottom set facing river PSB

1/2 NL, ~$700 effective

I’m viewed as fairly tight by V, he’s constantly joking about how I only play QJs and better.

I open 33 to $10 from UTG+2. Four callers including V, a loose-passive friendly fish in the BB.

Flop ($50): JT3r
V donks $15. I raise to $50. Folds back to V, who calls.

Turn ($150): 4x
V checks. I bet $100. He calls.

River ($350): 8x
V now leads $300.

Some reads on him:

* Loose-passive home-game player.
* I’ve never seen him bluff in hours.
* Just 2 mins ago he slowplayed the nuts in another hand: opens $20 with AKo, CO & BTN call.

Flop ($60): JTx
He checks, CO checks, BTN bets $45, he calls, CO calls

Turn ($195): Qx
Checks around

River ($195): 8x
He checks, CO bets $100, BTN folds, he check raises to $225, BTN calls with T9o and he tables AKo

* Another hand, he called my PFR, check-called three half-pot bets with J7o on a JT832 board versus my KK.

The sizing in this hand was what really got me. In 5+ hours I don’t think I’d seen him make a bet anywhere near this large, especially into me, whom he views as fairly tight.

At the table I thought:

* Q9 gets there, but would he really donk the flop with an OESD?
* Would he pot the river with JT/J8/T8 for value?
* Or is this population just massively underbluffing this node?
* He also didn’t raise big with AK when he made the nuts, so does he really blast PSB with Q9 here?

Given the live reads and sizing, are you calling or folding here? Is this an exploitative fold versus this profile, or is bottom set simply too high up in my range to let go?

Is Roamless the best option for occasional Canada trips? ($2.45/GB PAYG)

I’m trying to settle on a travel eSIM for a 10 day trip to Canada.

US-based

Usually use <5 GB per trip

I noticed Roamless offers:

Pay-as-you-go
$2.45/GB in Canada
Credits never expire
Single global eSIM
Rogers 5G in Canada
Hotspot supported
Compared to buying an Airalo/Nomad package every trip, this seems like a better fit since I won’t lose unused data.

For people who’ve actually used Roamless:
Is there any catch?
How has coverage and speed been in Canada?
Are there any hidden fees or minimum top-ups?
Is there another global PAYG eSIM you’d recommend instead?
Looking for real-world experiences before I load some credit. Thanks!

Flying to Windsor Ontario for 10-12 days. Recommendations for a cheap/good eSIM with ~5GB data? Airalo seems expensive.

WSOP Vegas Cash Games Survival Guide

Welcome to Las Vegas during the WSOP, where thousands of poker players travel from around the world… to wait for aces.

1. Finding a 1/3 or 2/5 table
Walk into the Bellagio or the Aria.
Table 1: 7 hoodies, 1 headphone guy.
Table 2: Same 8 people, rearranged.
Table 3: A professional Euro table hopper appears, scans the line-up for 10 seconds, says “Nah,” and immediately table changes.
Repeats this process for 7 hours, every 20 minutes, somehow always ending up with a slightly bigger stack after each table change. By the end of the night, he’s played more tables than hands, but somehow has a $3k stack off a $500 buyin.

2. The average preflop range
AA–QQ
AK
AQ (only if suited, and only after meditating on it)
If someone opens 76s, the dealer quietly asks if they’re okay.

3. Getting action
You finally flop top set.
Villain tanks for two minutes…
…and folds KK face up because “you look too comfortable.”

4. Biggest pots of the night
Set over set.
Set over overpair.
Occasionally AA vs KK, which everyone at neighboring tables stops to sweat because it’s the only all-in they’ve seen since breakfast.

5. Table conversation
Player 1: “…”
Player 2: “…”
Dealer: “Seat open.”
That’s the liveliest exchange all orbit.

6. The ecosystem
The recreational player you’ve been waiting for finally sits down.
Before he’s dealt a hand:
The table hopper immediately seat changes.
Three other Euros magically appear from different corners of the room, and three others from the neighbouring casino.
The rec racks up 25 minutes later after getting value-owned by the entire food chain.
Nature is beautiful.

7. Bluffing
You triple barrel.
Villain folds.
He proudly shows AKo because “I had ace high.”
The table nods in approval.

8. The dream
Someone orders tequila.
Everyone perks up.
Five minutes later it’s revealed to be sparkling water.
Three table changes immediately follow.

Final review
⭐ Atmosphere: 2/10
⭐ Table talk: 1/10
⭐ Table changes: 11/10
⭐ Hoodie density: 14/10
⭐ Chance of seeing a stack go in with one pair: Approximately equal to flopping a royal flush.

“Come to Vegas during the WSOP,” they said. “The games are amazing,” they said.

Disclaimer: In all fairness, not every table is like this. Just enough of them that finding a good game feels like winning a satellite.

Buying a third CSR StubHub credit: any way to use all 3 without the seller sharing their card?

Trying to figure out if there’s any way to optimize this.

Friend and I both have a Chase Sapphire Reserve and want to buy two StubHub tickets together.

Total comes to about $550 ($275 each).

Between us, we have 2 × $150 StubHub credits, but I was wondering if there was a way to buy a third $150 credit from someone (e.g. on DansDeals) and use all three toward the same purchase.

Is there any way to:

Use three different CSRs at PayPal checkout via the split payment option without the third person giving out their card info?

Or is there another workaround that would let us effectively stack a third person’s StubHub credit on the same order?

Curious if anyone has found a creative way to do this.

Cancel then rebook FHR, or book first then cancel? ($300 hotel credit question)

I’m trying to switch an Amex FHR booking before June 30 and wanted to see what the consensus is.
Current situation:
Booked a prepaid FHR stay at MGM Grand for August for about $220.
Received a $220 statement credit (so I still have about $80 of the semiannual $300 hotel credit unused).
I now want to stay at Park MGM instead, and the new prepaid FHR booking is also about $220.
Which is the better approach?
Option 1
Cancel MGM Grand.
Immediately book Park MGM.
Option 2
Book Park MGM first.
Wait for the charge (and any credit) to post.
Then cancel MGM Grand.
I’ve seen a few data points suggesting booking the replacement first may preserve/reuse the credit better, but I haven’t found anyone with the exact scenario where the original booking only used part of the $300 credit.
Has anyone done this recently? Which approach worked for you, and what happened to the original $220 credit and the remaining $80?

Middle set (KK) in a bomb pot

$5, 8-way bomb, stacks around ~$300-500

Hero is in BB with KKJ2r

Flops ($40): AKTssx & QQJr

Checks to UTG who bets $15, 3 calls, Hero ?

Is this a flop we’re supposed to peel one for this size? Or do we always have high reverse implied odds unless we hit another K on either board?

Side question: if the bottom board was QJ4r, does that change anything?

Vegas resort fees anomaly: included in $250 Edit credit but excluded in $300 Amex FHR credit?

Interesting Vegas booking anomaly I found while comparing Chase Sapphire Reserve’s The Edit vs Amex FHR.

Same hotel (Park MGM), same dates (3 nights):
Amex FHR
Room rate: ~$103 total
Taxes/fees prepaid: ~$14
Resort fee due at property: $150
Tax on resort fee: $20
Total: $286.74
FHR explicitly breaks out $170.07 due at property.

Chase The Edit
All-in total: $269.73
Fees included: $135
Amount due today: $269.73

No separate “resort fee due at property” language. Chase appears to be rolling the resort fee into the prepaid booking amount.

What’s fascinating is that Chase and Amex appear to be handling the exact same MGM resort fee completely differently.

Has anyone booked a Vegas MGM property through The Edit recently and can confirm whether the resort fee was actually prepaid and whether the full charge triggered the Edit credit?

2/5, $550 eff: AA facing flop raise and turn barrel

2/5, ~$550 effective.

Hero (tight image)opens HJ to $15 with A♣️A❤️. BTN (loose/aggro-ish rec) calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop ($60): Q♣️7♠️4♦️
Hero bets $20. BTN raises to $60 with blinds still left to act. BB folds.
Hero calls.

A few notes:

- BTN is raising next to act with 2 players behind, not closing the action.

- This is a relatively dry rainbow board.

- Villain would def 3-bet AQ/KQ pre from the BTN.

Turn ($180): 2♣️
Hero checks. BTN bets $175.
This sizing surprised me. I was planning to continue versus most reasonable sizes, but he essentially POTS the turn indicating he intends to play for stacks.

My thought process was:

- If Villain is 3-betting AQ (and possibly KQ) pre, then a lot of the strongest Qx may not even arrive here. Are worse Qx ever potting turn here? IMO almost never. The main value hands are 77/44/74s/Q7s/Q4s. The only semi-bluffs he can possibly have here are the 4 combos of 65s.

- Raising flop next to act with two players behind on a rainbow board feels significantly stronger than raising heads up or on wet boards.

- But then again, why is he sizing so big with sets or 2p and scaring me away on a bone-dry board? Something definitely seemed off.

Facing a near pot-sized turn bet, is AA simply too strong to fold, or is this a reasonable exploitative fold vs someone whose preflop strategy removes a lot of AQ/KQ from his range. What story does his turn sizing tell?

If we continue, shove or just call? If we just call, check/call or check/fold almost any river?

Naked top set in double board bomb pots

$5, 8-way double board bomb pot

Stacks are anywhere between $200-$1k

Hero has around $1200 and gets dealt A♠️A♣️J♣️2♦️ in BB

Flops ($40):

A❤️6♦️3❤️
T♦️8♦️4♠️

SB checks, Hero checks, UTG ($600) pots $40, 4 calls, Hero ?

I know we shouldn’t overplay in bomb pots when we only have one board, but given Hero has a tight image, is potting here to get it HU the correct play or still an overplay?

I’m mostly worried about TTxxhh, 88xxhh, 754xdd , QJ9xhh that have significant equity on both boards.

OTOH, it feels like those are very few specific hands which are very difficult to have combinatorically and a lot of the callers are significantly capped when they just call the flop. By potting, we probably even fold out hands with significant equity that are only playing one board like 754x, T8xx, 88xx, 44xx etc. that would otherwise chop with us a lot.

If we just call flop, almost half the deck kills our top set on top.

So - is just calling flop and hoping the top board pairs up still the correct play?

Side question: would your decision change if the top board was A63r? How about A83r? And A83hh?
