History:

The Silver Crocodiles are a successor chapter of the Imperial Fists, specializing in close combat and urban warfare. Created during the Eighth Founding in the 34th millennium, shortly after their formation, the Silver Crocodiles were deployed in a series of campaigns known as "The Iron Wake," an event where several Adeptus Astartes chapters, along with other Imperial forces, were sent to defend the borders of the Segmentum Oscuros after these borders had been weakened by a war lost to the Imperial records. During this campaign, the Silver Crocodiles were deployed on multiple hive worlds that had been revealed Against the Imperium, as part of the Alpha Legion's machinations, the Crocodiles hunted down both rebels and Chaos Astartes, leaving nothing in their wake. These exploits led to the Chapter being summoned by the High Lords to join a new alliance of Chapters known as the Court of Roses. Tasked with leading the conquest of the Demiurgus Sector, a sector that had been isolated from the Imperium for centuries by powerful warp storms that only recently subsided at the end of the 36th millennium. Following this campaign, the Court of Roses were named protectors of the sector, charged with defending Imperial domains and eradicating the sector's anomalies.

During the 37th millennium, a temporal anomaly was detected in the Aion system. An inquisitor of the Ordo Chronos requested assistance from the Silver Crocodiles chapter to investigate the Aion system and its surroundings, discovering that everything within the system was trapped in a constant temporal bubble, subjecting everything inside to an endless time loop. Upon seeing this, the Inquisition declared the Aion system a quarantine zone and entrusted the Silver Crocodiles with the guardianship of said zone, assigning them the swamp world of Porosus, on the borders of the Aion system, as their homeworld.

In the current time of the 42nd millennium, with the opening of the Great Rift, the situation in the Demiurgus sector has become critical. Chapter Master Tamakun extended a plea for help, which was answered by three Space Marine chapters. With these new forces, the Silver Crocodiles are leading the Court of Roses to repel the Chaos invasions of the sector and prepare a defense against the various Ork Waggghs approaching the sector.

Organization:

The Silver Crocodiles mostly follow the teachings of the códex astartes being are divided into ten companies known as "Bask," each led by an lord of the bask, with each bask functioning as a semi-independent force, spending a considerable amount of time isolated from the others, which has led to rivalries developing among the different basks.

Unique Units:

Golden Fangs: The chapter's highest elite and its most prestigious warriors, tasked with isolating high-ranking enemies and eliminating them.

Reptilian Terminators: The assault terminators of the first company, deployed to attack the heart of enemy forces and perform decapitation strikes on the enemy commanders to then crush the remaining disorganized forces.

Iron Scales: These elite units specialize in fire support, wearing gravis armor and recruited from the ranks of both Aggressors and Inceptors. The Iron Scales' mission is to obliterate enemy fortresses with sheer, extreme firepower, leaving nothing in their wake.

Beliefs:

The Silver Crocodiles profess that their campaigns are not mere wars but holy hunts to honor the Emperor, placing a strong emphasis on honor and adhering to their hunting codes and traditions. Among the many creatures the Silver Crocodiles take pride in slaying in the Emperor's name, the giant crocodiles of their homeworld are considered especially precious to the Chapter. So much so that any member who manages to kill one of these creatures will earn the respect of their brethren and secure a position in the First Bask. The Silver Crocodiles also highly value self-sacrifice and the destruction of those who seek to harm the Emperor's dream. This has led the Chapter to have a strong preference for using high-risk assault tactics to take the enemy down with them.

Combat Doctrine:

The Silver Crocodiles not only enjoy killing their enemies but also hunting them, luring them to secluded locations and then gradually weakening them with precise and stealthy strikes until they are sufficiently weakened to finish them off with a single, devastating blow, this same arduous campaigns have caused the patience of silver crocodiles to gain a legendary status among the Imperial forces that have fought alongside them, planning each hunt with extreme care and execute it with extreme precision and finesse, but this patience is forgotten when they lay hands on the enemy, demonstrating a brutality unmatched even by the standards of the adeptus astartes. Using chainaxes, daggers, and other weapons designed to tear the enemy apart, not stopping until the enemy is disfigured beyond recognition.

Unique Psychic Disciplines:

The Call of the Dragon: This psychic discipline grants the Librarian access to pyrokinesis and the ability to control the gigantic reptiles of their homeworld, sometimes even bringing several of these creatures onto the battlefield.

The Scaling: The Librarian strikes their target with a powerful energy blast, causing the enemy's skin to crumble into scales that begin to fall off impossibly fast, leaving the enemy completely skinned in seconds.

Genetic Seed:

The gene seed of the Silver Crocodiles is considered mostly stable, not exhibiting major mutations except for an anomaly in the "Larraman's Organ". This anomaly manifesting in the form of a faster regenerative capacity compared to other chapters, but with the defect that in some cases, healed wounds can lead to skin malformations that must be promptly treated by the Chapter Apothecaries.
