Need help coming up with an ENERGY based ship DISABLING weapon

Currently I've got a Microwave gun, but as someone pointed out shooting radiation at a ship isn't exactly non lethal, so outside of ignoring that fact I was wondering if anyone else thought of something I hadn't.

As the Capitalization would imply Id like it to be Energy based and need it to disable electronic systems, preferably without major risk to the enemy crew.

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this.

I updated the Battleships of my setting, please give it a look.

First a Link to my previous post before the Updates. https://www.reddit.com/r/scifiwriting/comments/1vcx02t/wanted_some_thoughts_on_the_battleships_of_my/

Battleship(named for solar systems)
length 1776ft, Beam(width) 294ft, 42 decks.
Armor
Shields: 100 Megatons.
Hull Armor: 10 Megatons
Weapons
Forward Facing Microwave Cannon(1)(200 crew)Designed to fry ships systems once the shields are knocked out.
Main Turret Battery(5 guns per turret)(4 per ship)(133 crew per turret,532 total crew) 50 Megatons
Secondary Turrets(3 guns per turret)(4 per ship)(80 crew per Turret,320 total crew) 30 Megatons
Torpedo launchers(40 per side)(3 crew each, 480 crew total) 1 Megaton per Torpedo
Point Defense Pulse Laser(400)(1 crew each),
200 engineers.
20ft/s² acceleration(EM Drive) & 300 light years an hour(Hyperspace, specifically radiation zone or the Zone).
2,132 crew plus 200 marines.

Ships are powered by Mini Stars, they literally receive them from one of the production facilities, put them in a chamber and acquire 100% of the power outputted by said Mini Star. Battleships use 4 Mini Stars. Each mini star is 10 feet in diameter.

I replaced the Forward Facing Ion Cannon with a Microwave Cannon because since the SSU has mostly been doing anti piracy operations for the past thousand years, a weapon designed for disabling ships just makes sense.

I made the Main Battery Ion cannons and made the Anti Torpedo defenses Lasers.

I decided to Use an EM drive for propulsion because it requires zero propellant, just electricity.

Also decided to use Hyperspace as my FTL, just tunnel into a universe of pure radiation.

It took five real life years for me to allow shuttles to exist, and I refuse to allow any form of fighter craft, this is Big ship V Big ship combat.

At the starting point of my story Battleships are mostly unused, just places for Admirals to sit in and fleets to center around, then a peer to slightly stronger force invades the galaxy and there's need for big ship combat.

Logistics isn't really an Issue, when your slowest military ship can cross the Galaxy in less than a week, and you hold the entire Galaxy, well just stopping for a routine resupply when your 2 months of supplies is down to 1 month is enough.

Also theirs no place to put it so the SSU uses Quantum Entanglement and a switchboard design to allow every ship to communicate with the Military High Command, who can then connect them to any station or other ship.

Also SSU stands for Solar Systems Union, it's the main government.

I will not use Metric, and I will continue to use Megatons, I'm measuring destructive output so my readers will actually understand.

Any questions?

Help me beat IBIS so I can enjoy the rest of this great game.

I’ve tried builds off YouTube and suggestions from other Reddit posts but neither got me the win. The biggest problem is that damn sword combo, way too much damage and staying close is impossible.

I'm Wondering if I have enough species in my setting.

We'll start with the founding species of the SSU.

Mythin-Green skinned, (Biologically)all female, prehensile tentacle hair(3 foot long), with mind reading powers.

Baleen-400ft long space whale, with energy manipulation abilities.

Azuran-Fly looking human-esk species, has a long needle for a nose/mouth and tiny useless wings on their back.

Now I'll list them in order of when they joined the SSU(Solar System's Union)

Crawlick-Four foot tall Crab like species, body comes in two segments.

Leaftin-Tall with shiny metal looking natural armor, looks like a metal lizard.

Ceten-Dolphin species with arms.

Humans-Thanks to modern medicine, they can live to be 300 years old(it was 500, but some commenters on an old post convinced me to lower it).

Cootian-Spider looking species(Males are only 8in long. Females have indeterminate growth, even to their detriment). Family structure is built around Houses & house names, with a matriarch as their leader. They believe that all life bearing planets are connected in a web and that when you die your soul wanders this web forever.

Now the non SSU species

CISTA KRV-A squid like, fascist theocratic species who believe they evolved in space and wants to destroy every habitable planet. They arm hate groups to weaken the military of governments they destroyed. Admirals are the kings of their fleets. They will often fight each other if they come across one another, to try to take their opponents ships/prove they are the superior admiral. They take ships from their destroyed species to grow their fleet.

An unnamed Bird like species-

Anyone's thoughts or suggestions are welcome

So you want to be an Officer

(an in universe explanation of the three year course's you have to take to become an officer in the Solar System's Union Havy)

"Hello class, lets start with the most obvious fact, sixty eight percent of you, give or take about two percent will drop out simply due to homework, this is good, the further you go up the more your jobs just filling out paperwork, we want to get rid of people who can't handle it early. About eigty percent of people who drop out will re-enlist, good for them since we need dedicted and experinced chiefs.

The single biggest cause of drop out outside of paperwork is trio drop, we stick you all on a Destroyer, give you three minutes to look at a projection of the ships map, then turn the alarms past max and use hundreads of smoke machines to basically blind you, then you have to find and launch out of an escape pod, then we leave you there for three days. you will be penalized if theres more than six people in your pod, also avoid a smoking pod, you can't smoke once launched anyway so your just stuck in a dirty stinky pod, which fun fct might kill you since one guy a while ago had to have his heart replaced because of a bad reaction.

Anyway on to the important buisness, the mandetory courses and if you decided you havent had enough paperwork theirs some optional courses.

Basics of command, Secrets to gunnery, mysterious behind engineering, math behind spaceship combat, basic first aid of every species, diplomacy training, interspecies relationship, Hisotry of war & Combat.

I wont go and explain all the optional courses because most of you won't want them, any questions.

(Very dumb hypothetical) all three main Eva pilots from Evangelion vs ever Megazord battle from Power Rangers.

Pretty simple. Every fight a megazord was in, but the three Eva’s are subbed in, Eva’s get fully repaired and recharged after each fight.

How far do the Eva’s get? I think the first major hurdle is the giant Green Ranger, and I think they definitely lose by mystic force.

Explaining how a ship(Specifically a Heavy Cruiser) is constructed in my setting.(Reddit suggested to post this here)

*"hello class, this will be a general overview of how the backbone of the Solar Systems Union, the Heavy Cruiser is constructed, and every ship.*

*First things first theirs only about six solar systems that can create the Mini Star we use to power, well basically everything, most planets have secondary emergency nuclear reactors, but some don't and ships at best have batteries that can last a week at minimum power.*

*So an order is put in for Mini Stars, then their shipped to wherever the ship or ships are being constructed. A heavy cruiser is 1,332 feet long and 280 feet wide when completed, the central cannon is basically all that length and most of that width, then behind that is the star reactor which is hooked to the EM thrusters, movement through pure electricity. Also for anyone wondering after 50 years the Star is replaced, and the old one is dropped into the Black Hole at the center of the Galaxy, safe disposal and all that.*

*Ok we have the main gun, we have the power core and the thrusters but what about the crew to actually man this ship, since after the machine incident only point defense guns are allowed to be AI controlled, and you need a crew for maintenance and power projection anyway, a ships no good if it cant serve it's governments interests.*

*The two halves are literally placed around the core of the ship and fused together in a super advanced form of molecular welding.*

*Ok you have an ugly gray rectangle, now we paint it Black and put the name on the side in bright Orange, don't ask me why, it's tradition. the full writing is S.S.U.N.V.H.C, which stands for Solar Systems Union Naval Vessel Heavy Cruiser, followed by the name, Heavy Cruisers are named for Planets. On a Cruiser the name goes between the main and secondary turrets on each side, which are in the mid points of the two rectangles if you were to cut the rectangle in half. The barrels are about a fourth of the length of the ship their on, and each barrel hits for 10 megatons of destructive output, that means 30 megatons on the main battery's and 20 megatons on the secondary, per side, and since they can raise to about 105 degrees, and rotate indefinitely it's possible to bring three of the four main and secondary turrets to bear on the enemy, 150 megatons assuming you can bring all three sides to bear.*

*Now you just do your flight and weapons tests, stick over a thousand sailors and 200 marines on it, assign it to one of the five fleets and usually a Heavy Cruiser will be in charge of a task force, but you might get unlucky and stay with the main fleet, or lucky I don't know how much you want to see action.*

*Also the Bridge is on floor 38 of 40, no matter what ship your on it will always be 2 floors bellow the top floor, simple and easy to navigate.*

*Also the ship carries enough food for about 2 months and the water filtration gives you theoretically infinite water, at 400 lightyears an hour getting somewhere to restock should be no problem.*

*Any questions class?"*

Finally decided on a reactor and thruster type for the ships in my Sci-fi setting.

Black Hole Reactor. it was between this or go full bullshit and say miniature sun.

an EM drive for thrusters.

I wanted solutions with as little storage needs as possible, since I went full energy weapons for everything else anyway.

Wanted some thoughts on the battleship's of my setting, especially since I changed how the function.

Make a rectangle in your mind, then find the mid point, go about halfway behind that and on each face theirs a large 5 barrel turret. Go halfway In front of that half point and place 3 barrel turrets on each face.

I used the amount of crew per an Iowa class battleship turret to figure out mine.

Battleship(named for solar systems)-

length 1776ft, Beam(width) 294ft, 42 decks.

Weapons, forward facing Ion cannon(1)(200 crew) 50 Megatons

Main Turrets(5 guns per turret)(4 per ship)(133 crew per turret,532 total crew) 40 Megatons

Secondary Turrets(3 guns per turret)(4 per ship)(80 crew per Turret,320 total crew) 30 Megatons

Torpedo launchers(40 per side)(3 crew each, 480 crew total) 1 Megaton each

point defense machine guns(400)(1 crew each),

200 engineers.

20ft/s² acceleration & 300 light years an hour.

2,132 crew plus 200 marines.

My thoughts after reading the first book.

First thing's first everyone thank their local libraries.

Considering I already ordered the second book off Amazon, yeah I loved it.

It has an almost perfect mix of humor and appropriate weight to the emotionally heavy stuff that's happening(translating the Spanish from the first boss was depressing). This is hard to do.

The characters are nice.

Carl is someone familiar with fantasy and TTRPG tropes, but not super involved in such communities. he has enough knowledge to not be constantly confused, but doesn't know so much he's unlikable or a bad audience surrogate. He's compassionate without be so compassionate he feels dumb.

Donut is Donut, enough said if I'm being honest.

Definitely getting the TTRPG when it releases.

You’ve all heard of Blue Agumon, now get ready for Green Agumon.

Went to some pop up farmers market downtown, bought this. Decided to include the card for the company incase anyone asks.

Who on team RWBY is most hindered by a lack of Dust?

Ruby: she often uses the recoil GM from Crescent Rose to cut through tougher enemies and maneuver.

Yang: no shotgun blast means she’s just relying on her fists.

Blake: no gun or firing it after throwing to change direction, but mostly fine.

Weiss: admittedly carried by Winters showings of the potential for Glyphs.

Also Ironwood played right into Salems hands by stoping the export of Dust. Dust powers everything, cars, cities, bullets, elemental effect weapons.

This list will be even more controversial than my last one, but I stand by it.

Rank team RWBY by how useless they are without their semblance’s.

Random thought that popped into my head.

1(most useless): Weiss. No argument, she loses all her range, utility and attack power. Her fighting style is her semblance.

2: Blake. Her weapons weaker than Ruby so she’s weaker. Also she has less maneuverability with her weapon.

3: Ruby. Loses most of her ability to maneuver and avoid attacks, but still can using Crescent Roses recoil.

4: Yang. Theirs some fights where I’m pretty sure she never used her semblance. She loses her trump card to win fights, but other than that is perfectly fine. Her semblance being mostly passively storing energy from getting hit, then releasing it back means that without it her fighting style doesn’t change much.

You ever have trouble deciding where to end a chapter?

Yeah eventually I reached a point I think is good enough to stop at, but still had thoughts of writing more.

Only thing that stoped me is my belief that what’s coming next would make a better opener than an end.

You ever get sad, or even angry when one of your fics gets more attention than another fic?

13 weeks and counting written 13 chapters(and counting since it's not done yet) and its sitting at 63 Hits.

3 days, a one shot and it's been up less than a day, 55 hits and 2 kudos.

Both are my fics, and I definitely didn't phone anything in. But like I didn't even make a series bible for this.

I can guess why. My longer fic is a Stargate Universe Fic, so the second to third least popular show in a dead(for now) franchise. Meanwhile the oneshot is a Backrooms X Wifies ARG fic. Also if stereotypes are to be believed then gay tagged stories do better, so that probably helped.
