Job security

Hi. I just started as an in-tank mechanic at Everett on 777.

I’m wondering about the job security at Boeing, I come from union construction with no aerospace experience prior. It’s been hard for me keeping a job for the past 4 years in my trade. Getting laid off is always in my thoughts and I’m anxious about being laid off at Boeing.

Are some jobs safer than others? What can I do personally to mitigate losing my job if anything at all?

What should I do with my money?

I’m starting a job at Boeing, I am 25. They match 8% into the 401k. I also have a Roth IRA.

Here’s my dilemma. I have 15k in credit card debt right now. Should I try to pay off debt asap? I won’t have enough money to even come close to max out my Roth. Would it be better to max out the 401k before adding to Roth? What’s the best course of action? What’s the best place to put my money? If the answer is to put 0 into investing at the moment until the debt is gone, what should I do after?

Edit: seems I have left out some information that’s necessary.

My wife and I have 20k in an investing account her dad setup when she was a kid. Should we leave it? Or use it to pay off our debt?

1 card with $9200 .99% until may 2027

1 card $4100 19.49%

1 personal loan with $4800 $303 a month payment. Used to be 15k.

Ugh. Okay, so more than 15k total. I currently make 57k a year and I’ll get a 9% raise in September and 7% in September 2027 on top of .50 every 6 months.

In tank fuel mechanic new hire

Hi, I’m starting at Everett soon for this job. I feel like my recruiter may have mislead me? When I was given a job offer I was told that the starting wage is not negotiable and I just had to accept the bottom wage.

Is this true? I have 4 years experience in union construction. I see others have posted before saying how it is negotiable and now I feel like I was possibly lied to for some reason. How does the wage progression work? Will I only get .50 every 6 months until 6 years? If so that seems ridiculous and I’m trying not to be upset until I get the facts but it’s hard not to be. Any advice?

2 stage paint correction

Did a 2 stage paint correction on a previously mildly clapped 03 manual TDI wagon. Looks SO much better, even if the front and rear bumper could use a replacement. Also swapped to GLI wheels while my MK4 GLI is undergoing a 3.6 VR swap.

Sold my Chevy bolt EV and got one of these. My 3rd owned TDI and 7th MK4.

Yes. My 7th mk4. I just keep coming back to them. I love them. I currently own two of them. I’ve owned an 05 TDI Passat as well. I LOVE these cars. This one’s an 03’ Manual wagon.

Seattle center boeing theater contact.

As we just learned the other day about Boeing theater not showing feature films any longer. I wanted to find a way to contact the space needle and tell them about their mistake. Here’s a link that I hope is right, where you can message them. If there’s a better way please share and we’ll pin it to the top comment. For the contact department, I would assume that public relations would be correct for this.

When you message them, please don’t be angry! It won’t help, but rather, write a clear and concise message expressing our deep displeasure with the state of affairs regarding Boeing theater.
