FiiO's CEO said today (July 1) that "the situation is really difficult" following Yageo's announcement of a price increase across its capacitor lineup. Yageo is one of the world's largest manufacturers of passive electronic components and a key supplier to FiiO. The concern stems from the fact that capacitors make up a significant portion of the components used in DAPs, DACs, and headphone amplifiers, potentially affecting manufacturers such as HiBy, Cayin, iBasso, and Shanling as well. FiiO released multiple firmware updates today (June 30) for Digital Audio Players (DAPs) that are up to five years old. The update covers models including the M11 Plus, M17, M11S, M15S, M23, R7, and R9. Rather than limiting the release to bug fixes and performance optimizations, FiiO has unexpectedly introduced significant new features, including the Equalizer app with Auto EQ and community EQ profile sharing.
