Why is the game running like ass?
I haven't played in about a year and I suddenly got the urge to play again when everything is running so damn slow. I'm on the exact same hardware that I was last time and it ran nice and smoothly so I don't understand what's changed. Is this a known thing? Unmodded game runs the same way too so it's not Shockwave causing it
Northern Water Avatar Training
At the end of Book 1 we learn that in the Northern Water Tribe women are forbidden from learning to fight and must learn to heal. So what would happen if there was a female avatar born into the north? Would they have to go to the south to start learning their own element at 16? Or would an exception be made which would give away who the avatar is?
More cake than Three Dog
My character clearly has too much cake for the DJ outfit
Marrakesh SASO with no pacifications or panic shots
Wanted to try something different so I set myself up some rules:
- I had to eliminate both targets in the fire trap in the escape tunnel
- I couldn't pacify any NPCs
- I couldn't use panic shots or otherwise blind NPCs to my actions
- Default entrance and exit the same way
- No destroying cameras
- Silent assassin, suit only
Took me many attempts to get the timing right but damn was it fulfilling to see both targets burn and the guns stay green
Ion Powered Asteroid Capture
Wanted to try out using ion engines on an asteroid mission, had a class B on a fairly low speed Kerbin flyby which was nicely doable with this craft. The TWR was horrible but Kerbin's atmosphere helped me park this hunk of rock at a comfy 90km orbit.
Now to figure out what I should do with it...
Prop Stability
Trying to figure out how to properly secure these props and I can't seem to find any consistent advice online.
All motors are autostrutted to grandparent
Left to right the propellers are:
Heaviest autostrut - hits max rpm, fairly stable but can fail structurally if at max rpm for too long
Grandparent autostrut - exceeds max rpm, catastrophic structural failure
Root autostrut - lowest rpm, very stable
Rigid attachment - about half max rpm, very stable
What do? I need the rpm but I also need the props to not destroy themselves
Thrust Issues
Struggling with the thrust on this Eve plane and I'm suspecting I've set something up wrong but no matter what I tweak I can't break through around 50m/s. I've been talking with other Eve plane creators and with a similar mass and the same number of motors and blades they're reaching flight and speeds of around 100m/s but I've got a glorified car at the moment. Can anyone spot anything wrong with the set up?
Bell Curve Probabilities
I am populating a 2D array with a random number generator but right now the entire thing has the same probability at any point whereas what I need is a bell curve type thing where certain values increase in probability as each row of the array is populated and other values to decrease. Each value would have it's own peak probability but I can't find much online about how I can achieve this and the math is a bit too complicated to figure out on my own.
Anyone got any good reading material or examples similar to this, or recommend any kind of methods to achieve this kind of shifting probability?
Won't Fly Level
Plane won't fly level and it's killing my lift for the last few kilometres. It's flying straight, it's not inducing a turn but no matter how much I roll it back level it will always tip one wing down. Sometimes it's one wing, sometimes it's the other but no amount of countering will keep me level. It's not trim and everything is symmetrical. What the hell is going on?
Back again with the Eve shuttle prototype. I'm finding issues in my ascent from Eve, when I reach around 11-12km I'm having really bad stability issues, I'll suddenly start yawing and rolling like crazy and eventually end in a backflip. I'm starting to suspect this has something to do with my CoL placement, particularly while pitching up and when rotated in the hangar it shows the CoL ahead of the CoM.
If I'm right about this it presents a new problem in how I can keep the pitched CoL far enough back without massively impacting the level stability. I already tried messing with wing placements to move it back and I had severe nose-heaviness issues. Any bright ideas?
For clarity in case anyone isn't familiar with what I'm doing, the plane in the relevant phase of flight is running on 8 rotors in the service bays inside the wings. When open they do bring the CoL forward by a not insignificant amount but I've tried to carefully place them to not have too much impact. They'd always be open for this entire section of the flight anyway
