Dr Foster and its glorious nonsense. Have you watched it?

I've just been rewatching Dr Foster after a number of years, and forgotten how ludicrous and soapy it is. People behaving in ways that no adult professional human would behave in real life.

But I think this is why I enjoy it - the acting is good, it's well produced, but good lord the characters are terrible people! Proper escapism.

Even the teenage son is awful. If a child of mine spoke to me the way he does to his mother in the first series, or spoke about women generally in the way he does, I think I would disown him.

And yet, I can't stop watching.

Nosedive

I recently watched this episode with my 78 year old mother (I've been trying to show her the somewhat more positive episodes!) and she laughed at the end, you know, when they were shouting "f... you!" at each other! I did not expect her to love the episode so much.

She has seen this episode and USS Callister. Which episode should I show her next? (apart from Eulogy, my father recently passed away)

I am Mother

Pretty underrated movie in my opinion, but keen to know the opinion of others.

What did you think at the beginning of the movie? What did you think about the arrival of Hilary Swank? What about the ending?

Please give me your honest opinions!

Joan is Awful

Just rewatching this episode, and on the whole, I love it.

But is there a point to Joan's hair in the episode? Someone makes a point of saying how good it looks early on, but.... I really don't like it.

Is it just me....? Am I missing something, is it actually good hair...?

Edit: "Then whose anus is doing the shitting?!"

I forgot how amazing Salma Hayak is in this episode!

Has anybody watched The World's Strangest Mysteries?

A treasure trove of debunked theories, conspiracy theories and general nonsense.

I love it!

My mother's doppelganger

A pretty boring/common one I think.

When my mother was in her early 20s, living in London, friends of hers would often say to her "I saw you the other day but you walked right by me, you didn't even acknowledge me or say hello." She had no memory of seeing these people on the occasion they described.

One day, she was waiting at a bus stop and saw a young woman who looked almost identical to her. Even weirder, this young woman was wearing a dress that my mother had tried on recently in a shop but had rejected. My mother was wearing the dress she had tried on in the same shop but had obviously purchased. This identical woman was looking at my mother as if she was also extremely confused, but they didn't speak to each other before their bus came.

I wish Michele and Paris set up business together.

But what would it be?

I guess if Michele was a co director of Paris' fertility company, that might work.

I just see them working together so well.

A year in the life appreciation (kind of!)

I know we all love to hate this Netflix follow up, and I know it's not great, but I want to just show a little bit of love - the tribute to Edward Hermann, and the character development of Emily.

I actually love her speech to the young woman who was interviewed for the DAR. Amazing.

It was a great portrayal of grief and recovery for the character of Emily. Loved this.

Was Chandler's Dad a drag queen, rather than trans?

If so, why was she in drag all the time, apparently? Genuine question, please don't hate me!

Shipwrecked: Nightmare at Sea is shocking

I realise I'm late to this documentary, but I'm watching it now, and I cannot believe how incompetent the captain was.

Also, the woman who was a dancer on the the ship describing the engineer's suit as "like a babygro" was (probably unintentionally) hilarious.

A Question for the people of Essex (or perhaps outsiders!)

I went to a wedding in Essex (originally the people were from Basildon but not getting married there) and I hate to admit it, but it was just like TOWIE- orange people, a lot of makeup on the women and everyone had obviously spent a lot of time in the gym.

It made me think - perhaps there's some truth to regional or national stereotypes? What do you think?

(And my apologies to the people of Essex, I know that most of you are very lovely!)

Has anyone seen the movie "Creep"?

Not the commonly known Creep - the one in which a woman is lost underground, in the Tube system.

One of my favourite horror movies, and very few people seem to have seen it!

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen

I watched the first episode and it seems like people making not great decisions when they are vulnerable.

Is it worth continuing with this show? Does it get any better?
