Help! 18 Year Old Struggling with Family Relationships

I am so upset over my home life. For context, I am an 18 year old. But when I was 14 I started struggling with self harm. I told my parents about it, but in these past 4 years they have never once loved me enough to have a difficult conversation about it.

They "love" me but only when I am fun and easy to be around. But the thing is I'm only human and I get tired and sad and angry and I have off days and I have character flaws and I make mistakes and I fall short and I have a bad attitude sometimes. I feel like as soon as I fail to "have a good attitude" for one little second they react as though I have done some terrible thing.

Spending dinnertime with my family is the worst part of my day everyday. I hate feeling like I have to pretend and preform. I count down the seconds untill I can run away to be alone in my room where I can have a bad attitude all I want and no one will shame me for it.

I feel like they don't actually love me, they just love what I can give them. Their love is so conditional, when they dont get what they want they dont want me anymore.

I'm working very hard to invest in my future, but I won't be financially secure enough to move out for another year or so. I'm hating my life so much right now. I literally just went to the bathroom during dinnertime and cried out to Jesus asking him to save me from this suffering. Please pray for me and send me words and Bible verse of comfort. 🙏🩷

Help! 18 Yr Old Struggling to Trust God with Life

Hey yall! I'm an 18 year old high school graduate struggling to trust God with my future. I did a dual credit program in high school to get an Associate degree, and now I'm working a part time entry level job in my field while doing an accelerated bachelor's degree online.

I also don't have a very good relationship with my family and I am very eager to move out as soon as I financially can! I am also relatively new to the faith (less than year) so that is part of the struggle also.

Both before and after becoming a Christian I have always looked to career/money as a means to save myself (not spiritually, but as in saving myself from worldly problems). Since following Jesus, I have learned of the things the Bible says about the love of money being evil and how we should trust God and not worry about our lives.

But I'm struggling to pay for college and scared about if I'll be able to handle the cost of living crisis before my family finally drives me to a full mental breakdown. How can I be beter about embracing God's plan even when it doesn't match up with mine? Also please point me to any relevant Bible passages if a specific one comes to mind! :)

Help! 18 Yr Old Seeking Student Loan

Hello yall!

I am an 18 year old trying to get a student loan. I already have an Associtate degree in Accounting (no debt from that), but now I want a Bachelor in Accounting.

I expect this to cost 20k total. I have already paid 2k out of pocket and I'm about to pay another 2k out of pocket. I want a loan of about 12k, and I'll pay the rest out of pock as well.

I applied for FAFSA, but they won't give me very much since my parents make too much. My parents won't be paying anything and preferably won't consign due to personal reasons. I don't really know where to go from here, but I know there are a lot of people who have learned the hard way that I can learn from! What do you think I should do now? What mistakes should I avoid?

Thank you!

How to ask for raise?

Hello people! I am hoping to get some advice on how to ask for a raise!

I work as receptionist at a local accounting firm. I started as a high school intern, then got promoted to receptionist after I graduated.

I started at 10$ an hour (I made 0 attempt to negotiate, I was happy to be paid anything at all). Then, when I got promoted, one of the owners gave me a raise to 12$ an hour without me asking/negotiating at all.

For more context, the company has 2 owners, 2 managers (office manager and tax manager) and then 3 other employees.

Since graduating, money has become more important. I want to ask for a raise soon, and I am hoping for at least 17$ an hour.

Who should I approach, how should I approach, how much can I reasonably expect, and how to I get that amount?

For more context

-I live in a medium sized growing city (USA)

- QuickBooks Online Certified User

- I have work there for 6 months

- I have an Associates degree of Accounting/bookkeeping

- I am working on a bachelor of accounting and finance right now

- I am trying to get CPA certified.

Thank you for your help! :))))
