Anyone got any pics of the old Kodak factory?

I do remember it vaguely, I remember the leisure centre and the car boot sale across the road from the main site. I remember the smell of sulphur and the black snot. It really doesn't feel like that long ago! I almost remember the pub at the quadrant! But i can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

Anyway, I'm feeling nostalgic. I'd love to see some pictures if anyone has them!

I just had my first anxiety attack, and they are definitely not the same as panic attacks

I've had panic attacks before and this felt entirely different, to the point I called 111 because I thought I was having a heart attack.

Halfway through the assessment I realised I was having an anxiety attack from what I've read about them, and had to apologise to the call handler for wasting his time (he obviously had dealt with this a million times before, and said loads of people call 111 thinking the same as me during their first anxiety attack).

Anyway I'd describe (for me) a panic attack as an intense and urgent existential dread, you're going to die, praying to a god you don't believe in, your bowels are very involved, it's pure animalistic fear.

An anxiety attack felt far more physical. I still had the faculty of my brain, I thought my chest was far too tight to be healthy and something must be wrong. The sensation had been building for a few days, I've had a heavy week smoking and drinking way too much and thought a heart attack would be plausible. That might have brought on a panic attack if I hadn't called 111.

As usual, I'm so grateful for the NHS.

Long term lurker, first time poster! £30ish from Lidl, not including the Nando's sauce (£3.25 from Iceland)

I'd normally spend less but had to buy cleaning stuff this week. I think more deserving of praise is getting it up the hill back to my flat in this hellfire!

Social Housing in Islington

Does anyone know where I can start with applying to the social housing register in Islington? I'm a long term resident and have privately rented in the borough for the last five years plus but it's now become unaffordable. There's a massive new development across the road from me with a solid social renting scheme and I thought I may as well look into it properly.

I've done the preliminary research online and now I'd like to speak to an official body for some advice, ideally in person. I'm new to accessing council services like this and find the website and various departments quite confusing to navigate. If anyone could point me in a useful direction from here, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

ETA I realise there's a points system and that there's an extremely long waiting list but that doesn't seem like a reason not to at least look into starting the process. As I know this is what most replies will say.

How can I have more healthy, good sex?

I’m firm about staying single - not least because it’s been over a decade and I wouldn’t have a clue where to start - but I can’t help feel I should be having a lot more sex. As we all know, it’s simply not true that women can go out and get sex any day of the week.

I haven’t since before Christmas, and last time I tentatively asked a man back to mine after hours of outrageous flirting at the pub, he politely declined because he wasn’t single (it’s necessary to point out here that this was certainly not made apparent to me before this point, and I wouldn’t have done it if it had). I work in a female dominated industry mainly from home and am generally against shitting where you eat anyway, and I’m not on the apps and don’t want to be.

So many women (and men) my age seem to have a selection of hookups they’ve acquired from various places but I really don’t understand where they’re all coming from! Realistically I’m likely to meet a no strings connection in the pub, but I don’t know how to make the move from just talking to someone in the beer garden (which I do often and easily) to waking up in their bed the following morning or even getting their number to do so in future.

I just can’t help thinking of the whole charade of heterosexual courtship as fundamentally humiliating sometimes and the thought of being so presumptuous in proposing such a thing feels weirdly juvenile and embarrassing.

I don’t have any moral or social qualms about safe, consensual casual sex between adults and am not looking to be convinced otherwise.

Bunk beds not working?

Screenshots attached. I can't work out why these aren't working - none of the beds in the women's dorm apart from the one currently being slept in are accessible. I know it's tight but if she can stand there why can't she get into the bed? I've tried re-orienting the beds so that the ladders aren't in front of each other and neither version is working. And with the men's dorm there's actually plenty of room but he also can't climb the ladder. Any suggestions?

How should Judith start her family?

As she nears elderhood Judith is finding herself increasingly regretful over the only dream in life she couldn't see realised - securing an heir having a child of her own to preserve her legacy love.

Judith is single in my game as I just can't see her together with any of the riffraff. My question is, would Judith be more likely to adopt, or have a science baby?

The nursery is awaiting an occupant!

It's fucking hot and if you're coming into a coffee shop or pub which actually does have effective air conditioning...

Why the hell are you not shutting the doors behind you? Do you want it to be as hot in here as it is outside? I'm watching both the staff and customers get up in rotation to close the door behind oblivious people who are leaving it wide open every few seconds. It's not rocket surgery people

Can I feed my foxes tomatoes?

Possibly a silly question but t'internet is saying they can be toxic so I thought I would ask real people. I've got into the habit of giving them anything past it's best or that I won't eat but always check to be safe but this one seems hit and miss.

They are shop bought tomatoes and too overripe for me to eat (not rotten)

Has anyone been up to the ponds during the heatwaves?

What's the deal with getting in? Can we still queue and pay on the desk in the summer or do I need to book? Was it mega busy?

Since this is going to be a summer of successive unbearable heatwaves from the looks of it, I'm taking some time off work to try and beat the heat and would like to go for a swim if it's not like Berghain on a Friday night to get in!

I actually love tourists

I know it's annoying when people don't know how to use TfL when you're on your way to work and when people stop in awkward places to take photos and etc etc etc... but I really feel so proud to be a Londoner when I can help visitors with my lifelong London knowledge, I love meeting people who are excited to be here. I actually think it's really cool to be from a global city and that there are so many people from across the world who save up to come here for a trip. I particularly like helping out with directions - I'm obviously a nerd!

But for any tourists on this sub, welcome! I hope I get to meet you on TfL and make your trip a little bit easier/better :)

Why am I nervous? It's not like I'm performing to a stadium full of people!

I only decided I wanted to come yesterday and bought a last minute ticket (didn't realise there would be so many seats still available!) so I'm flying solo tonight. I've also not been to a big stadium gig in coming up to ten years and I'm feeling weirdly overwhelmed by the prospect of being there on my own.

It's cool to go to gigs on your own right? Right??

Shirley from Caerphilly has come so far

Remember when she needed convincing that Paddington from the animated classic, Paddington (starring Ben Wishaw) wasn't a) a real bear or b) a puppet with someone's hand up its arse?

She was much more willing to believe the David Attenborough sequence with all the animals was AI! Which I personally thought was a disappointing decision, they could have totally got away with a dog and a hawk but they lost me at the hodgeheg.

Anyway side note, did anyone else think that 'Beautiful World' through the eyes of the 'boxers was a bit depressing? I didn't watch the actual BBC broadcast of the whole thing (no TV license) and I'm sure I would have been quite moved by it too but it seemed everyone kind of missed the point. David Attenborough (and King Charles actually, not that I'm a Royalist by any means) is an activist and action is needed to preserve the world as it is.

It all just seemed a bit passive, no one was galvanised or inspired. Seemed like the message was wasted a bit.

How to produce a track with the Get Famous music station?

My sim has been stood at that bloody music station for well over 24 hours (using cheats because I don't want her to have to start again if she stops to tend to her needs) but literally nothing is happening. She's maxed out her media production skill in that time and tried every variation of a remix but there's no produced track in her inbox.

Failing that has anyone got one they can upload to the gallery that I can just download? I want her signed to a record label!

Can I change who shows up when my sims hire a fitness coach on the bikes or free weights?

Any kind of fitness mentoring in my game I always get Brant (or Brent) Hecking from Brindleton Bay turn up. He's always mentoring randoms at the gym and if I've ever hired an instructor for anything he's the one that shows. He's not even in the athletic career in my game anymore (he joined the police) and I have other sims that I'd rather take on the trainer roles for storytelling. Can I change it without mods?

ETA - thanks everyone 😄 in an amusing turn of events another of my families' homes got robbed last night and Brant (or Brent) was the police officer who showed up to arrest him, which is much more consistent with my storytelling! That man is everywhere!

Is Stephen Graham doing the Maccy D's adverts now?

Just noticed! I think UK McDonald's ads are actually really great so this would be a great collab if so
