Everything I've read has said not to eat green onions after algae starts growing in the water.
I did a little experiment and added some aerogarden nutrients to the water and of course, as I was acutely aware, algae would grow.
My question is, since these are unsafe to eat when growing in the algae water, if I was to transplant these outside in soil, would they still be unsafe to eat? If they were to be safe to eat, how long would you have to wait before harvesting the green onions for recipes?
