I’m putting together a little creative afternoon in Pune: TOTE & TOAST 🌊🎨

hello hello

I've been working on a small project called KINO, and for the first time I'm actually putting together one of my own experiences.

I'm hosting TOTE & TOAST: ON THE COAST on August 22 in collaboration with Coast & Co., Aundh.

It's a small Paint & Sip afternoon with only around 15 people. The idea is to make it feel more like a little Mediterranean summer afternoon than a regular painting workshop.

Everyone gets a good quality heavyweight canvas tote to paint and take home. I'll be providing fabric paints and all the painting materials, so the tote is actually made to be used after the event rather than just being a canvas to paint on. There'll also be golden glitter and some theme based elements for the creative space.

Since it's a collaboration with Coast & Co., everyone also gets one complimentary drink from their bar, with the choice of a cocktail, mocktail or glass of wine.

I'm also putting together a curated goodie bag for everyone to take home, and I've been making some of the little themed pieces for the experience myself. The space will have soft, summery music playing while everyone paints, so it's meant to be a pretty relaxed couple of hours rather than a structured class.

There isn't a competition or anything like that, and you definitely don't need to know how to paint. You basically come in, pick up a brush, paint your tote, have a drink, listen to some music and hang out.

So it's more of a creative afternoon

I've been putting this together myself for a while, so I'm really excited to finally see it happen. If this sounds like your kind of Saturday, would love to have you there :)

Pune developers — anyone up for a non-tech Saturday? 😭🎨

Hey everyone!

I’m working on a small project called KINO, and I’m hosting my first little experience in Pune on August 22.

It’s called TOTE & TOAST: ON THE COAST, happening at Coast & Co., Aundh.

It’s basically a small, relaxed afternoon where you can:

  • paint your own heavyweight canvas tote
  • have a complimentary cocktail, mocktail or glass of wine
  • listen to some chill music
  • meet a few new people
  • take home the tote + a curated goodie bag

No painting skills required whatsoever. There’s no instructor, competition or “here’s how you paint a flower” situation 😂. You just get the materials, pick up a brush and make whatever you want.

I’m keeping it to around 15 people, so it’s meant to be more of a small social afternoon than a big workshop.

Since I spend way too much time around tech myself, I thought it would be nice to do something completely unrelated to screens for once.

TOTE & TOAST: ON THE COAST — a little Paint & Sip afternoon in Aundh

Hey Pune!

I’ve been putting together a small Saturday afternoon experience at Coast & Co., Aundh on August 22, and thought this might be fun for people who enjoy trying new cafés / food experiences around Pune.

The ticket includes one complimentary drink from the bar, with your choice of:

  • Cocktail
  • Mocktail
  • Glass of wine

While you sip, you’ll get a heavyweight canvas tote to paint and take home, with fabric paints and all the materials provided. There’ll be golden glitter, some coastal/Mediterranean-themed details around the space, and soft summer music playing in the background.

The idea isn't really a formal “painting workshop” — no instructor breathing down your neck and no artistic skills required 😂. More like come in, order something you like, paint a tote, listen to music, meet people and spend a couple of slow hours at the café.

I’m also putting together a small curated goodie bag with some handmade/theme-based surprises

Need to know what to learn with 0 experience. How much is enough?

I want to get into backend engineering seriously, and lately I’ve been struggling to understand what’s actually expected from freshers now.

I’ve been reading the foundational parts of Alex Xu’s system design books and trying to understand various HLD questions.

I finished the first 5 design patterns from Head First Design Patterns:Strategy, Observer, Decorator, Factory Method, Singleton

I do LeetCode daily. Recently I got to the point where I can derive backtracking solutions on my own. It may not sound huge, but for me it feels like real progress.

I also read O’ reilieys designing rest apis, was a noce read. I read only fisrt 6 chapters.

I watched Sriniously "backend from first principles" videos properly, took notes, and understood most of it. This really helped honestly

I read Spring in Action to properly understand Spring fundamentals.

For projects, I do have solid ones. They’re definitely beyond basic CRUD apps.

I already have an offer in hand, and I’m a 2026 batch passout, but honestly I’m still scared of what companies expect these days from backend freshers. Online it feels like everyone already knows:distributed systems, Kafka, Docker/Kubernetes, system design, cloud, devops and sometimes I genuinely can’t tell what’s actually expected from a fresher vs what people are learning because of social media pressure. Instagram and reddit make it seem like you should know the absolute depth in everything and need to be perfect. I feel so behind just in general. also shitscared of what they want in an interview. Im not sure if im doing enough tho, or still lagging behind. Its my last semester i didnt have subjects so just kept consistently studying all this.

P.S: Im not expecting to make it into MAANG typa companies. i think its too far fetched for me.

Would appreciate advice from people already working in backend.

(I used chat gpt to structure my thoughts sorry if it feels too AI-ish)
