i am hating on myself right now.

just because i did not clear jee , i can clearly see hatred towards me by all of my relatives AND MY MOTHER ITSELF , i am generally a mentally strong person. Yet i chose to drop and will give JEE mains again , but yeah i dont know. i am a second dropper , you all can hate on me as much as you can , i deserve to be hated i guess..but i dont have any option

Constantly hearing "B.Tech is useless" from relatives is honestly exhausting.

So basically, I have a cousin who's 4 years older than me. He had PCM in Class 12, but he never wanted to pursue engineering. Instead, he did the IIT Madras BS in Data Science program along with a commerce degree.

He called me yesterday to discuss my college preferences. During the conversation, I mentioned that ROI (Return on Investment) matters a lot to me because I'm from a lower-middle-class family. I'll most likely have to take an education loan for college, so amounts like ₹20–30 lakh are a huge deal for us. My parents couldn't even afford to send me to Kota because the coaching itself would've cost around ₹5 lakh, and that still hurts when I think about it.

During the call, he also kept praising another cousin from my commerce side of the family who's doing a B.Sc. in Economics from DU North Campus. He kept saying things like, "She'll easily get internships," "She has a bright future," and so on. Out of curiosity, I checked her college's placement statistics, and from what I found, the median package was around ₹5 LPA and the highest was around ₹18 LPA.

What made me feel bad wasn't her success—I genuinely hope she does well. It was the fact that my relatives constantly make me feel like engineering is a bad choice. They keep saying things like, "B.Tech is useless," even though I'm probably going to take a drop year to prepare seriously for JEE.

It honestly feels like they don't have any confidence in me, and every conversation somehow turns into why I shouldn't pursue B.Tech. Has anyone else dealt with relatives constantly discouraging them like this? He also always discourage me that NIT / IIIT AND IIT or any good college dont matter , skill matters this that. And i am really fond of NITs and IIITS and want to join one
