Perfumes that are “beast mode”, and “last 10 hours” etc. feel just too much of a commitment.

I’d rather a perfume “visit” and go away in 4 hours than “move in” with me. Which is why I focus on the scent even if it doesn’t last much. In fact I prefer it doesn’t last too long.

Am I alone in this?

As a huge fougere fan, this had been on my list for a while. I had heard good things about Scentville and I figured it was cheap enough to give it a shot. So, I headed over to Etsy and bought a bottle.

And I am so glad that I did!!

I have never smelled the original Gucci Nobile, so I can't speak to the authenticity of the smell, but this thing smells divine!

Very reminiscent of 80s and early 90s luxury colognes, and very high quality. I don't throw that term around loosely, this is the only "clone" in my collection. The ingredients are close to niche quality.

Projection and longevity are similar to my other fougeres with a pleasant woody/oakmossy drydown.

Loving it!

One of the most celebrated Chypres out there and I was lucky to snag a good deal on it.

Notes too numerous to list, but they come at you in one well blended cloud of beautiful scent. It’s not very “3D” and you can’t really tell the notes apart if you try.

But when not trying and simply enjoying it, you can make out something nice after another and the notes just click in your head.

Love it! And if you enjoy chypres, put this on your list.

Classiest signature scent ever. This is what I imagine Austin Powers’ dad would wear, or James Bond (Pierce Brosnan, not Daniel Craig).

Just got my bottle of Duc de Vervains L’Extreme by Houbigant.

As soon as I sprayed it on, hair popped up on my chest, 2 of my top buttons flew off, I grew some sideburns and a full bodied mustache, my testosterone levels are through the roof, and I have immediately grown in size and girth.

Only some of those things may or may not have happened, but what’s true is that this is an amazing old school green aromatic fougere.

Smells of money and testosterone. Beautifully constructed and feels so familiar but yet modern.

Def in my top 10 now.

Wife loved the sample and now I must get it. I’ve talked up this community really highly with her… so don’t let a brother down! 🙏😂

Finally got myself some Interlude Man.

Hard to describe what it smells like, but if you’ve been in a Hindu Temple during a “havan” where various woods and materials are burnt in a fire as a ritual, you are somewhat familiar with this scent. “Dhoop” l, a type of solid fragrance features heavily in that ceremony, and I suspect it shares some materials with Interlude.

Now imagine that smoke with incense burning around you, and somehow you’re not suffocating because it’s in the temple courtyard.

And if you close your eyes and breathe it all in, you are tranquil and elevated.

I don’t know what notes I’m smelling and in what order they come, but when people say it’s a masterpiece, they are not exaggerating.

I’m finding Layton to be a bit too sweet with no balance to it. And it projects like a beast.

What are some good ways to balance out the sweetness with something that doesn’t get totally overpowered by Layton’s projection?
