I’m interested in running a plant club or environment club, and was wondering if any of y’all habe any experience? I get paid per session and want to be a good influence on kids but cant lie I also want to look good for admin before I get tenure

I know it’s scary but I also def want to start like a club for the kids but I just like def don’t want to look bad.

The subs have been very negative lately and while I know this job is stressful I need reassurance it’ll be ok

Got in an argument at work with a fellow teacher. They’re mad at zohran cuz he’s anti car and my coworker does live in an area that I think doesn’t have best transit so I said we need more transit to make cars obsolete and he got mad.

Saw some hate for him and I really wonder if people actually thin the billionaire friendly mayors of the past actually care about teachers lol

I work as an Montessori assistant teacher (hate it and will likely go back to school to be a science teacher at a public school) and overheard the director of the daycare on the phone with her rich lawyer son who does our payroll. He isn’t educated weirdly enough and claimed our Medicare tax goes to Medicaid recipients thst don’t want to work. Which is odd since I work full time and am on Medicaid. No shade Ik in Illinois and my Medicaid is awesome. More of a rant but how do we argue against people?

There should be term limits.

Nearly died (following all rules) when an suv almost hit me. How the hell do so many have these SUVs near trains? I understand some ppl in less transit adjacent neighborhoods may have to have cars, but in lakeview ? Same goes for NYC

Straight forward question. I mainly want your success stories. Even if you came with no job lined up! (I did this in Chicago and turned out good)

I get that some ppl need to due to where they are, but it’s so demoralizing with big box stores in certain areas. I’m lucky to live right by red line and 22 Clark bus. Has anyone else felt this way. There’s a possibility I move to Brooklyn for wirk and I just like the transit more there

Is per session the best way to go? I intend to rest during my summers. Maybe do an unrelated part time job twice a week to keep me somewhat busy

Pretty standard question but more so would love a discussion on what’s aspects of culture from the south were brought into NYC food, arts and culture wise.

Work life balance. I feel I’ll be ok as I have many hobbies and friends outside of work. But any tips would be awesome. Please no negative comments wasting time lol

How’d you make good effort without going crazy whilst not letting admin bully you?

Heard some horror stories and ppl saying stuff on here about admin. Is it hard to get fired? Nkt that I wouldnt take things seriously but how likely would it be for a middle school science teacher to get fired for no reason?

I wanna be considerate whilst still learning. Any tips on how you adapted?
