Opportunities for those without tickets

Have a budding tennis player and a sister who is a huge tennis fan. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the match but I’d like to get them a souvenir or show them anything close to the match. Any advice on where I can go? Looks like the museum is off limits too :(

What’s it like having the “nice” kid (boy)

Son is now 9. He has always been “the nice” kid. When he was younger I thought he would grow out of it. Adults love him because he’s kind and respectful. But I’m afraid he will be “the nice” kid amongst his peers/the boys as he grows up and this worries me. There’s an unspoken hierarchy amongst boys at school and being one of the nice ones is seen as weak. I’m not going to try to change him because one day he will be a gentlemen and treat a lot of people with love and respect but I am worried about his middle school and high school years. Any advice or words from parents who raised “the nice” boy or themselves were the nice kid?

Box of chocolates appropriate?

I’m a big believer of showing gratitude and teaching my children this too. We have an upcoming international trip out of LAX. I was wondering if it would be appropriate to give the flight crew a box of (sealed) chocolates and a thank you card. I’m not expecting anything in return. Not sure if this is ok. Any advice?

9 year old likes to be in control

Seeking advice. We have a wonderful 9 year old who is amazing in so many ways, he has always been a “by the book” kind of kid who follows rules and likes structure and order. Even as a preschooler his things were always organized. He’s the typical 9 year old in many ways such as loves pop culture trends like Minecraft Harry Potter Marvel plays sports has a great group of friends.
We have noticed he’s become sort of the parent of his friend circle - he makes sure rules are being followed and everyone is getting a turn etc HOWEVER this has backfired on him twice in one week now. One of his friends didn’t like being corrected for not following the rules and another wanted to know why our son was the self appointed parent of the group (but in 9 year old words).

How can I go about teaching him to let go of the wheel and let his friends do whatever they’re doing even if they aren’t following the rules, it’s not his responsibility to parent them. Has anyone been through this?

**im finding that parents & teachers love him and label him responsible but the kids not so much. They don’t want the responsible kid around….

Tell me the brutal truth - California SLPs

Hi all,

I am currently an RN considering going back to school for SLP. I see a lot SLPs leaving the profession (faster than nurses) and I’m wondering why. Please share with me everything. The honest truth about a career in SLP. I’m especially interested in California SLPs since this is where I will be working. I’m also interested in the school district option and being nowhere near a hospital. Any personal experiences will be greatly appreciated. Also would like to know how hard is it to find a job as an SLP? Or starting your own speech therapy clinic.

Hi all

My 2024 model Y has approximately 54k miles on it. Yesterday, out of nowhere, it gave me a “unable to support features” warning and 15 minutes later the car was completely dead. Couldn’t open doors trunk nada. Car was towed to Tesla. This afternoon Tesla called and said the 16v battery cannot hold charge. They do not know why. They asked me to authorize a replacement of the 16v battery so they can see what’s draining it. Apparently they don’t have a battery they can use. Any idea what might be going on? The timing couldn’t be worse. I just got laid off and now my families only car is done. Oh they finally gave me a loaner.
