Anyone regret using an employer of record?

I run a health tech startup in boston massachusetts and we're finally ready to hire people outside the US.

The more I research international hiring, the more complicated it seems. Between global payroll, tax compliance, employment contracts, mandatory benefits, payroll processing and worker classification it feels like there's a lot that can go wrong.

Several people have recommended using an Employer of Record (eor) instead of trying to manage everything ourselves.

For anyone whos used one did it actually make hiring easier?

Or would you recommend going another route for a small business with fewer than 10 employees?

First europe trip help in london and paris itinerary advice?

My wife and I are planning our first trip to Europe and will be based in London for most of it.

One idea we're considering is taking the Eurostar London to Paris for a quick day trip. I've seen a lot of Paris tours from London that promise to cover the highlights, but I'm not sure whether they're actually worth it.

For those who've visited Paris for the first time what would you prioritize if you only had one day?

Would you recommend a Paris guided tour, a Paris sightseeing tour, or simply creating your own itinerary and exploring at your own pace?

Trying to decide whether a London to Paris day trip is a must do or if we should save Paris for a future trip.

Employer of Record vs setting up a ph entity?

I own an e-commerce startup based in Denver, Colorado, and we're planning to expand our remote workforce.

The Philippines keeps coming up as one of the best places to hire talented remote employees, especially for customer service, marketing, and operations roles.

We're considering an Employer of Record because it seems like they can handle everything from payroll compliance and employment contracts to benefits administration and employee onboarding.

For companies that started with an EOR in the Philippines how long did you stay with that model before creating your own local entity?

Would love to hear some real-world experiences

What's a good ROI for restaurant advertising? Genuinely confused

Started running paid ads for my restaurant a few months back, mostly Google Ads and boosting some posts on FB and IG. Sales seem a little better but honestly I have no idea if that's because of the ads or just because it's been busier season wise.

I don't really know what numbers I'm supposed to be looking at.

Someone in a FB group mentioned something like 500% ROI being a normal target for marketing but that sounded insane to me like if I spend $500 I should be making $2,500 back from that specifically?

That doesn't feel right but I also don't know how you'd even prove that came from the ad versus a regular customer who would've shown up anyway.

Is there an easier way to think about this for someone who's never done this before? I don't even know what numbers to write down or track.

Feel pretty lost honestly any explanation like I'm five would help a lot.

Best GEO for B2B SaaS right now?

We've been looking into GEO tools recently and honestly a lot of them sound the same.

Every demo ends up being some version of:

  • create better content
  • answer questions directly
  • build authority
  • add schema

Which is all fine, but I'm trying to find platforms that are doing something genuinely different when it comes to AI visibility and brand mentions.

We're a midsized B2B SaaS company and most of the tools we've looked at focus on tracking visibility rather than helping improve it.

What GEO tools have actually impressed you?

Anything unique beyond monitoring and reporting?

What's the actual payroll compliance risk management approach for a small company that can't afford to get it wrong but also can't afford a big platform

Running a 20 person digital agency with people in 5 countries. We use a midtier global payroll platform and I'm increasingly worried that our international payroll compliance posture is weaker than it looks on paper.

Our platform runs the payroll but the global payroll audit is basically me spot-checking outputs and trusting that the system has the right local rules loaded. I don't have a payroll compliance checklist for each country that I'm confident is current.

I don't know when the last time our platform updated Germany's social contribution rates or how I'd even verify that.

How do other small ops or finance leads approach payroll compliance risk management without either hiring a specialist in every market or paying for an enterprise platform with a 6month implementation timeline?

Is there a middle ground that actually works at our scale?

Fed up with replacing underwear every few months, BIFL framing

Tired of replacing my boxer briefs every 6 months what are the most durable men's underwear that actually last?

Been going through the same cycle for years. Buy a pack of best cotton boxer briefs, they feel fine for the first few months, then the waistband starts to stretch out and lose its grip, the fabric thins out, and a few holes appear. Six months later I'm buying another pack.

I've tried a few of the grocery store and warehouse brands and they all seem to have the same ceiling on lifespan. Starting to think the answer is just spending more upfront on long lasting boxer briefs that are built properly rather than treating them as disposable.

Main things I care about best waistband boxer briefs that actually hold their shape after repeated washing, no bunching or riding up during the day, and fabric that doesn't pill or thin out after 50 washes. Not fussed about the brand, just want men's underwear that lasts years instead of months.

What are people here actually buying and how long have they held up?

Any startup founders here getting results from GEO and ChatGPT visibility?

I'm running a small startup and most of our marketing efforts have been focused on traditional SEO so far.

Lately though I've noticed more people are finding products through ChatGPT and AI search tools, which has me wondering if I should be spending time on GEO as well.

For anyone who's actually managed to get mentioned more often in ChatGPT or AI generated answers what did you do differently?

Did you create different types of content, focus on authority signals, or was it mostly the same stuff that works for SEO?

As a startup with limited resources I'm trying to figure out what's actually worth prioritizing.

Trying to decide between a global payroll service and an employer of record for our first international full time hire

I run a small marketing consultancy. We're hiring our first full-time overseas employee a strategist based in South Africa and I'm trying to figure out the right setup for paying remote workers in another country compliantly.

From what I understand the two main options are running international payroll through a global payroll service provider where we still hold the legal employment relationship, or going through an employer of record where they become the legal employer in-country on our behalf.

The employer of record vs contractor international conversation is clear to me but I'm less sure about when you'd choose full global payroll management vs the EOR route.

Is the distinction mostly about whether you want direct legal employment or whether you're fine with the EOR being the technical employer?

And for a single hire in one country does the added cost of an EOR make sense versus just setting up proper international payroll compliance ourselves?

Can never figure out how much nail glue to actually use for press ons and it's ruining my DIY manicure every time

Been trying to get press on nails to last longer than two days and I keep running into the same two problems.

Either I use too little glue and they start lifting at the sides by the next morning or I use too much and it overflows onto my cuticles and I end up gluing my skin to my nail bed.

I know nail prep before press ons matters but even when I buff the surface and wipe everything down with alcohol I still can't get the application right.

Do I apply the glue to my natural nail, the press on or both? And how long do press on nails actually last when you apply them properly I keep seeing people say two weeks and mine barely make it through a weekend.

Not looking to get an acrylic set right now, just want to get the most out of press ons while I have a window of time where I can actually have nice nails.

As a startup, should I focus on Local SEO, AEO, or GEO first?

I'm running a small startup and trying to be smart about where we spend our marketing time.

Right now we're still pretty early so I don't have the budget to do everything at once.

I keep seeing people talk about Local SEO, AEO and GEO, and honestly I'm not sure if all three are necessary or if one should come first.

My gut says Local SEO is still the priority since people need to find us on Google but AI search seems to be growing fast too.

For those who have been through this already, what would you focus on if you were starting from scratch today?

Just getting into crypto and I'm already confused by how different every platform is

Been trying to figure out the best crypto exchange for beginners and every list I find is just sponsored content pushing whatever pays the highest referral commission. Hard to know what's actually reliable.

What I care about most: low trading fees, fast withdrawal times, decent crypto exchange customer support if something breaks, and ideally no hidden fees that show up after I've already committed. I'm not day trading just want to buy Bitcoin and a few altcoins and move them to a wallet without it costing me half my stack in fees.

Is there a platform people here have actually used long-term that ticks most of those boxes? Not looking for guaranteed returns or leverage stuff just a safe, transparent place to trade.

First time in london for 4 days in June coming from the us, love art and Harry Potter any tips?

Never been out of the country before and honestly a little overwhelmed trying to plan this. Going with my wife and family and want to make the most of a 4 day london itinerary without burning everyone out by first week of june. No budget capping i think?

A few things I know I want to do the harry potter studio Tour keeps coming up, the British Museum is on the list since I love art and I want to at least walk past Big Ben and Buckingham Palace.

also want one good night out at a classic london pub, something that feels local not too touristy.

For getting around should I get an oyster card or just use contactless? Heard the london Underground is pretty easy once you get the hang of it but I don't want to end up on the wrong line going the opposite direction at rush hour.

Any advice on best areas to stay in london for first timers what's actually worth paying for vs what's overrated and free things to do in London that people actually enjoy?

Really appreciate any help from people who know the city well.

How are smaller restaurant teams handling marketing without burning out?

Our marketing setup started simple but now it’s kinda turning into chaos as we grow

between social media, promos, online ordering apps, customer reviews, and loyalty stuff, it feels like we’re managing 10 different systems that barely talk to each other

i’ve been researching things like a leading CRM for full-service restaurants plus some restaurant customer acquisition systems to hopefully centralize things a bit better

also trying to figure out which are actually the best online ordering systems for restaurants because some of the current ones feel clunky and expensive

everyone keeps talking about digital transformation for restaurants, but i’m curious what that actually looks like for smaller teams without huge budgets

what’s worked for you guys?

Feels like small businesses need fewer tools now, not more

Maybe it’s just me but i feel like every small business stack became overly complicated

CRM here, ecommerce there, landing pages somewhere else, then random automation tools holding everything together

I’ve been wondering if newer Integrated CRM software platforms are finally good enough toreplace a bunch of separate tools

same with newer Website builders for entrepreneurs some of them seem surprisingly solid now compared to a few years ago

I also keep hearing people talk about Emerging alternatives to Shopify, especially AI-first platforms claiming to be an AI website builder better than Shopify

not sure how true that is yet though

What’s everyone actually using these days that feels simple but scalable?

Hey! I’m thinking of trying press on nails for weak nails since regular polish isn’t really practical for me right now.

I’m mainly worried about removal and long-term damage. I’ve read that press on nails with adhesive tabs are safer, but don’t last as long compared to glue.

At the same time, I don’t want something that ruins my nails just for a few days of wear.

Looking for:

  • Natural looking press on nails
  • Reusable press on nails if possible
  • Something that balances durability + low damage

For those who’ve tried both glue and tabs, what’s the best option?

I keep hearing that most restaurant traffic comes from Google Maps and Google Business Profile not the actual website.

So I’m wondering how much does onpage SEO really matter compared to things like reviews, local citations and overall local SEO signals?

From what I’ve seen, GBP alone can drive most visibility if it’s fully optimized and active.

Do you still invest heavily in website SEO (content, schema, etc.) or just keep it simple and focus on Maps?

I’m trying to understand what really drives early growth for a digital marketing agency.

There’s a lot of advice out there cold email, content marketing, networking, referrals but it’s hard to know what actually works in practice.

From what I’ve seen, a mix of outreach and inbound seems to be the common approach but consistency is the challenge.

If you’ve already gone through this stage:
Where did your first 5 to 10 real clients come from?

Was it mostly lead generation, referrals or something else?
