Transient Ischemic Attack: Scared

I was out of town for work and was at dinner last night when all of a sudden it was like I was “checking out”. My vision was weird in both eyes like I was looking through coke bottles at my workmates across the table. I could feel myself losing consciousness but never fully did. However as my guys helped me up from my seat I could not coordinate my legs for a bit or put weight on them. I got mostly across the street to the hospital near where we were staying and one of my colleagues ran ahead to get a wheelchair to get me into triage. I started to come back to normal but felt weak. I was cogent again, could walk normally, and tests showed I was basically ok (CT scan of my head, ECG, MD examination). I’m flying home today and will see my physician tomorrow to follow up but I’m scared. I’m a 63 yo F and sort of let myself go after losing my husband 3 years ago, but turned that around starting last year (workout, lost 30 pounds, completely stopped drinking, and quit a highly stressful management role at my job). Hoping someone on here can give a good news story of recovery. I’m a deer in the headlights. Thanks!

Succinylcholine Use and GLP-1 Contraindications?

Hi. A friend of mine using GLP-1 for weight management had vocal cord surgery under general anesthesia a couple of days ago. The anesthesiologist used Succinylcholine** **to relax the esophageal muscles for intubation. Very healthy woman in her early 70s. She went home, felt unwell and ended up in the ICU (indications of mild heart attack). One of the things I’ve noticed in myself (and I have a surgery coming up as well under general anesthesia) is elevated heart rate on GLP-1. A side effect of Succinylcholine is potassium spike and heart rate elevation/arrhythmia. My question is if there is data to support having GLP-1s added to the list of drug contraindications when using Succinylcholine? Thank you.

Online Dating: Over 60 Gal

Any of my older sisters out there having any luck? Just bailed out of “Our Time”. Lots of likes. Traded one or two messages with some fellas but then zip otherwise. Widowed three years ago, and I have been out of circulation for about 15 years (my beloved late husband and I were a later in life marriage). While I’m not unfamiliar with online dating, I was just hoping it was not going to be as soul-sucking as I remembered it to be. So far it’s been bone dry in every way lol.

Edit I understand many of you are happier alone. That is awesome. I am still working full time, have hobbies etc but would like to have a companion. Chime in if you are a sister having luck out there! Appreciate you!

Edit #2: I think I’ll stay out of the apps. Consensus seems to be they are as terrible as I remember (and scammier than ever). I’ll dive into Meetup opportunities to hike, shoot pool, go concerts etc for older singles. Thank you wise ladies!!

Subaru 2025 OWD: Question

A person in a Ford 450 turned left in front of me near an intersection and hit me pretty hard over a month ago. Insurance arranged for a tow to a collision center and surprised that the car isn’t totaled. The repair bill thus far hasn’t reached the 70% threshold for the value of the car. But now the transmission needs to be fixed. And I’m frustrated because I fear once the engine is cracked open to replace the CVT I’m going to get back a glitchy, substandard car. Has anyone dealt with a CVT replacement and kept the car? I feel like I am getting hosed. Not only for a questionable car but also diminished resale or trade.

National Museum of the US Air Force Visit

I haven’t been in over 20 years. It was a pleasure to visit “my trifecta” (Hanoi Taxi, the XB-70 and Bockscar), and see the incredible aircraft that weren’t there the last time. I flew Hanoi Taxi for my C-141 fini flight (back in the day) and am now that old fart getting misty-eyed over an airplane in a museum. The Iraqi Foxbat was wild to see. Freakishly large, and out of proportion, engine intakes. I’m told it was developed to chase and shoot down the SR-71 but never achieved that goal (thankfully). It came close with some missiles though, and drove the US to develop the F-15. The AC-130 was even more menacing framed in the dark hangar and harsh lighting.

Eberle Trailer: Garage Door Springs

Has anyone else with an Eberle trailer found a better door opening solution than the springs? I’ve had the garage door springs replaced, tension adjusted a couple of years ago, but now difficult to fully open the door to get the struts in place (solo). Should I just get stronger springs? Thanks

Auto Collision Repair Question

I was involved in a crash about three weeks ago (I am not at fault but USAA is handling things for now and will recover expenses from the other driver’s insurance company later). Long story short, my 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness was transported to a collision place on USAA’s list for teardown and appraisal and I was surprised that it’s repairable at a rather cheap cost, and not totaled. Since it’s repairable, I asked that the car be moved to a Subaru certified repair shop. I’m concerned that, through no fault of my own, I’m going to get a substandard repair job and end up with a crap vehicle (with vastly diminished resale value). Last week my agent was helpful and was going to get my car moved to the new shop. Now some new agent left a VM saying I’ll be on the hook for “parts already ordered” etc from the original collision place when I asked them to stop work on the car. What should I do next? Never dealt with a collision claim where the car wasn’t totaled before. Thanks.

Complicated Question: Trying to Help Step kids

My grown stepkids lost their dad (my husband) three years ago. Their mom (an English citizen who moved back to England post-divorce) died last year. Their mom was a troubled person with spotty contact with family and her kids. So there was no paperwork left behind in England. She had a house here in the US that the kids were able to sell with the assistance of a lawyer. However the proceeds of the house will not be released to them until they can find her SSN and establish a FEIN. I have no paperwork from my deceased husband that has that information and my stepkids have been on the phone for literally hours at a time with the IRS and SSA getting no answers. I’ve recently escalated this to our congressman on their behalf because I have no other idea how to help them. Any advice, please?

**Update** my step-daughter told me she was able to get an appointment at the Social Security office in our city. Hopefully they resolve it! Thank you all for your advice and supportive comments!
