Should I Add Extra Modes to My Super World?

My Super World is inspired by New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, since it was my first Nintendo Switch game. I was wondering: should I just make a Story Mode, or include Story Mode plus the four extra modes?

The five modes in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe are:

  1. Story Mode
  2. New Super Luigi U (NSLU)
  3. Challenges
  4. Boost Rush
  5. Coin Battle

Tips on the “Ground” Course Part?

I finally figured out why my levels are terrible. It’s the terrain. It doesn’t feel like Nintendo made it, plus barely anyone made guides on this topic. So if anybody got tips and advice, I would appreciate it.

How can I think of level ideas like Mario Wonder’s level ideas?

Mario Wonder levels are super creative, plus what NSMB level ideas should’ve been. So I was wondering how could I think of my own level ideas like Mario Wonder.

I’m talking about the level ideas in Mario Wonder, not about the level design or wonder effects in Mario Wonder.

So Scram Skedaddlers level idea “Skedaddler” would count, but the 4-step level design in Mario Wonder & the wonder effect in Scram Skedaddlers “Raining Super Stars” wouldn’t count.

How can I think of level ideas like DKCTF’s level ideas?

DKCTF levels are one of the best things in the game. so I was wondering how could I think of my own level ideas like DKCTF.

EDIT:

I’m talking about the level ideas in DKCTF, not about the level design in DKCTF.

So Horn Top Hop level idea “Horns & Leaves” would count, but the level design which Game Maker’s Toolkit talked about in a video wouldn’t count.

How can I get the official Nintendo Seal of Quality in my traditional levels?

(I’ve decided to keep working on my Super Mario Maker 2 Super World “NSMB5” since summer break just started.)

Basically, how do I achieve the level quality of New Super Mario Bros. U in my traditional levels in Super Mario Maker 2?

How did Redstone and his team improve the buildings/mini-games in their project “Stampy’s Lovelier World”?

I’ve seen those videos back in the day and just watched them now, and I was wondering how did Redstone and his team improve the buildings/mini-games in their project “Stampy’s Lovelier World”? Because there’s no wiki that in-depth like the Stampy wiki on fandom, plus here are some examples: Stampy’s Hot Buns is a gingerbread house, the Clock Tower is a grandfather clock, etc.

I may cancel my SMM2 Super World :(

I got everything planned to make my traditional levels, but because of my autism and ADHD brain, when I get into the level editor, I just start building for 10 minutes and just give up building the level because I can’t take it anymore. I wish I didn’t have both autism and ADHD. I would’ve done this years ago.

How do the makers get inspiration for traditional levels?

I’m just wondering because i’m making my NSMBU-style traditional super world in SMM2 and i’m wondering how people get inspiration for traditional levels since people have their own methods of doing this.

Copium for a Super Mario Maker 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition or Super Mario Maker 3!

Welp… it didn’t happen. We did not get an Super Mario Maker 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition or Super Mario Maker 3…

But wait a minute! Donkey Kong Bananza got the Super Mario 40th Anniversary treatment, so they’re still doing Mario 40th Anniversary stuff. Maybe we’ll still get it later this year.

Nintendo Direct Is Here! Will We Get SMM2’s NS2E or SMM3?

The rumors were true—we’re getting a general Nintendo Direct tomorrow! If we get SMM2’s NS2E or SMM3, I’ll be happy. And if the New York Knicks win the championship, my dad will be happy. That would be a miracle! 😄

Why I Think SMM2 Will Get a NS2E!

(This is a NS2E for SMM2, not SMM3!)

Key

• SMM2 = Super Mario Maker 2
• NS2E = Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
• NB = Nathaniel Bandy
• SMBW = Super Mario Bros. Wonder
• SSBU = Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
• SMM1 = Super Mario Maker
• SM3DW = Super Mario 3D World
• NS2 = Nintendo Switch 2

There are rumors going around that we’re getting a General Nintendo Direct this month, and it got me wondering whether SMM2 will get a NS2E. Here’s why I think it will:

1. SMM2 Didn’t Get an Update When the NS2 Launched

In NB’s NS2 video, he said that there were no updates for SMM2, SSBU, or SMBW. Then, in September 2025, we got a NS2E for SMBW. Because of that, I think Nintendo has to be working on SMM2 and SSBU.

2. SMM2 Might Not Come Out Exactly on an Anniversary Date, but It Could Still Release Around One

SMM1 came out on 9/11/2015, and SMM2 came out on 6/28/2019.

Don’t you see a pattern? Both games released around major Mario anniversaries. 2015 was the 30th anniversary of Super Mario, and 2020 was the 35th anniversary, just one year after SMM2 released.

Because of that, I think it would make sense for a SMM2 NS2E to release around September 2026, since it’s one year after the 40th anniversary celebration. September is also when Super Mario’s anniversary is celebrated.

If I had to guess a release date, I’d say 9/12/2026.

What I Think Will Be Included

SMBW’s NS2E fixed several issues from the original game, such as bosses, multiplayer, and more. What if Nintendo does the same thing for Mario Maker?

I think they should fix many of the problems with SMM2, especially after the huge loss of SMM2 levels a few months ago.

There are three major things they need to fix, in my opinion:

1. Super Worlds

World Maker feels a bit half-baked, so these are the improvements I think it needs:

• New game styles
• 1-Up House Maker
• Secret exits
• Star Coins
• World skips
• A built-in world-level counter
• More than 5 levels per world
• A World Browser similar to Course Browser
• Tags for Super Worlds
• Move the Super World button so it isn’t hidden in the bottom-left corner away from everything else

2. SM3DW Game Style

The biggest new game style in SMM2 is also considered one of the weakest by many players. Here’s what I think should be improved:

• Allow players to switch to and from other game styles without completely resetting their level
• Night themes
• Add the Koopalings and Bowser Jr.
• Add multiple semisolid platform designs instead of just one
• Add the missing course parts that exist in the other game styles
• Enemy stacking

3. Maker UI

The wheel-based building menu isn’t as fun or efficient to use when creating levels.

The NS2’s mouse controls seem perfect for SMM2, so I think Nintendo should bring back the SMM1-style UI since it would work much better with mouse controls.

And thats all I have to say about a NS2E for SMM2 we will se if we get a general Nintendo direct this month.

Does the Miyamotto Level Editor show the level gimmicks for the 82 levels in NSMBU?

It’s probably no or It’s not that easy but I just want to be sure!

SMM2’s 8 world themes are tearing me apart!

I got some progress for the 8 world themes. I found some info that can help with “W7: Space World”.

I’m using the airship theme for the space theme, and the SMM2 fandom wiki has this info:
• This theme thematically fits very well with more mechanical enemies and gizmos, such as the Bill Blaster, Cannon, and Mechakoopa.

But the SMM2 fandom wiki only has it for the airship theme. So what course parts would fit well with the other 7 world themes?
• W1: Ground
• W2: Underground
• W3: Desert
• W4: Snow
• W5: Sky
• W6: Forest
• W8: Volcano (Castle)

How do SMB3’s world maps work?

I’m making a traditional SMM2 super world, and the world maps are inspired by SMB3’s world maps since it’s the 1st Mario game with world maps and because it was Nathaniel Bandy #1 2D Mario game before Mario Wonder’s DLC came out. If anybody can help me, I would appreciate it.

How we can use the 10 course themes in levels?

I looked at the SMM2 Wiki in the Fandom Wiki and in the Airship Theme Article. There’s a section called “How we can use this in Courses” BUT sadly only the Airship Theme has it.

Here’s the link if you’re wondering:
Airship | Super Mario Maker 2 Wiki | Fandom

So if anybody can make something like the airship theme article did for the 10 course themes I would appreciate it!

Thinking of course part as level mechanics for my traditional SMM2 super world is killing me!

I’m losing my marbles choosing course part as level mechanics!

The towers, castles, ghost houses, and airships have been already chosen:

W1: Ground World
1-1: ?
1-2: ?
1-3: ?
1-4: ?
1-C: Lift
W2: Desert World
2-1: ?
2-2: ?
2-3: ?
2-4: ?
2-AS: Conveyor Belt
W3: Underground World
3-1: ?
3-2: ?
3-3: ?
3-4: ?
3-AS: Grinder
W4: Forest World
4-1: ?
4-2: ?
4-T: P Switch
4-4: ?
4-AS: Note Block
W5: Snow World
5-1: ?
5-2: ?
5-3: ?
5-4: ?
5-C: Fire Bar
W6: Sky World
6-1: ?
6-2: ?
6-GH: ON/OFF Switch
6-4: ?
6-AS: Bill Blaster
W7: Space World
7-1: ?
7-2: ?
7-3: ?
7-4: ?
7-AS: Skewer
W8: Volcano World
8-1: ?
8-2: ?
8-T: Koopa Clown Car
8-4: ?
8-C: Castle Gauntlet

The problem is the standard levels; there are so many course parts, and I gotta choose one or two course parts as the main mechanics of the level. That’s where I’m stuck right now.

[Like Nintendo should’ve added the new stuff in Ver 3.0.0 into Yamamura’s Dojo or something to help players with super worlds.]

For the love of god if anybody got any tips or advice for the 8 world themes and what level mechanics are in them, comment them below. I desperately need them.
