What’s the #1 best SMM2 game style to use for a traditional super world?
I’m just wondering what the Makers use for traditional super worlds?
I’m just wondering what the Makers use for traditional super worlds?
NSMBU DELUXE was my 1st Nintendo Switch game, and I thought it was a good game. People like Odyssey & Dragon Eel agree with me, but then there are people like Silokhawk and Bandy who say it is the worst in the NSMB series.
1st - Can you give characters unique traits like in SM3DW?
• Mario = Normal.
• Luigi = Jump higher.
• Toad = Run faster.
• Toadette = Hover in the air.
2nd - what power-ups from mainline Mario could I recreate inside the NSMBU game style in SMM2 similar to what Arrowstotle did with the 3 new power-ups in SMBW (Elephant Fruit, Bubble Flower, and Drill Mushroom)?
3rd - Can you make your own level music in traditional levels like music levels?
NSLU doesn’t count because it’s DLC. And NSMBU DELUXE doesn’t count because it’s a port.
Basically, what’s the minimum amount of levels to beat in order to get all 7 Royal Seeds?
This is the original game, not the DLC Any% by beating the game as fast as possible while beating all worlds besides the special world without any glitches like those out-of-bounds glitches that save 40 minutes.
Because there’s many, there’s one by GMToolkit, one by Tobias’s Bergdorf, heck theres even one in the SMM2 fandom wiki.
If anybody got any advice, I would appreciate it.
(This isn’t a mod to SMM2; this is for my 40 level gimmicks in my Super World “NSMB5.”)
I was watching Tobias’s SMM2 traditional level guide, and I just realized for his level example “Parched Pokey Wasteland,” he used stacked spinys to emulate Pokey back when Pokey’s weren’t in the game.
So I’m asking the subreddit to think of some new course parts from 2D Mario that you want in SMM2.
Here are the 10-level themes:
• Ground
• Underground
• Underwater
• Desert
• Snow
• Sky
• Forest
• Ghost House
• Airship
• Castle
(Try to make your new course parts fit one of the 10 level themes in SMM2.)
Now let’s see what r/MarioMaker2 can think of?
I’m not crazy. i’m desperate. but not crazy.
People make W8 the Special World, but there are two problems with that.
First, the final level of W8 would be Bowser’s Castle, not the final level in W7. Second, you save Peach at the end of W8, so you would have to change the story or something.
(Should I do it? What am I trying to say? All NSMB games have Special Worlds. The DS version has W4 and W7, the Wii and U versions have W9, and NSMB2 has the Mushroom, Flower, and Star Worlds.)
EDIT:
If anybody got advice for fixing Bowser’s Castle being in W8 and Peach being saved at the end of W8, I would appreciate it.
I’m making a SMM2 Super World right now, but God knows when SMM3 is going to come out, so I’m planning to make a ROM hack for NSMBDS, similar to what the Newer Team did with Newer Super Mario Bros. DS!
Now, what should I add from Wii, 2, and U to make the ultimate NSMBDS ROM hack?
Here are some retrospectives for people who want a refresher:
• DS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZWMcK2PgLI
• Wii: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU-4HCJnBhY
• 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mskUDfYI0Fs
• U: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EXOSxfCzdM
(And if you’re wondering about NSLU, I made it so Mario has normal controls while Luigi has NSLU controls, inspired by The Lost Levels, so that’s already taken care of.)
Basically, what the title says: rank the 9 worlds in NSMBU from worst to best from your own perspective!
• W1: Acorn Plains
• W2: Layer-Cake Desert
• W3: Sparkling Waters
• W4: Frosted Glacier
• W5: Soda Jungle
• W6: Rock-Candy Mines
• W7: Meringue Clouds
• W8: Peach’s Castle
• W9: Superstar Road
I saw Tobias’s Level Idea Guide, and one tip was called Proven Design, which basically means taking ideas from other games and using them in your own levels.
So, I was thinking about taking level ideas from NSMBU, since that’s the only New Super Mario Bros. game I’ve played, and using them as inspiration for the levels in my SMM2 Super World.
But is my plan a good idea?
When Nintendo announced World Maker in 2020, people were excited. But when it came out, we were all disappointed. So we’re going to finish making SMM2’s World Maker since Nintendo won’t do it for us!
Give me suggestions on what to add or improve in SMM2’s World Maker in the comments section below so we can make this the complete World Maker for SMM2.

People say that NSMBU got the best level design in the whole NSMB series, and the crazy thing is barely anyone is fully talked about this on the internet. The game came out in 2012. Next year, it turns 15 years old?
My Super World is inspired by New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, since it was my first Nintendo Switch game. I was wondering: should I just make a Story Mode, or include Story Mode plus the four extra modes?
The five modes in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe are:
Whichever gets the most votes i’ll will use to make my SMM2 Super World.
I finally figured out why my levels are terrible. It’s the terrain. It doesn’t feel like Nintendo made it, plus barely anyone made guides on this topic. So if anybody got tips and advice, I would appreciate it.
Mario Wonder levels are super creative, plus what NSMB level ideas should’ve been. So I was wondering how could I think of my own level ideas like Mario Wonder.
I’m talking about the level ideas in Mario Wonder, not about the level design or wonder effects in Mario Wonder.
So Scram Skedaddlers level idea “Skedaddler” would count, but the 4-step level design in Mario Wonder & the wonder effect in Scram Skedaddlers “Raining Super Stars” wouldn’t count.
DKCTF levels are one of the best things in the game. so I was wondering how could I think of my own level ideas like DKCTF.
EDIT:
I’m talking about the level ideas in DKCTF, not about the level design in DKCTF.
So Horn Top Hop level idea “Horns & Leaves” would count, but the level design which Game Maker’s Toolkit talked about in a video wouldn’t count.
Basically, what the title says!
The world themes are:
W1: Grass
W2: Desert
W3: Beach
W4: Ice
W5: Jungle
W6: Mountain
W7: Sky
W8: Volcano
W9: Special
If you’re a fan of the NSMB series, just tell me how many levels you think each world theme should have.
