I'm helping an 80 year old birth mother looking for baby boy given up for adoption 1966

She doesn't know who handled the adoption. Doesn't know the exact birth date, only the year and place. Can I do a vital records request to see if some sort of consent was given by the adoptee for his birth parents to contact him? If a consent exists, would it be attached to his birth certificate and searchable by her maiden name at time of birth?

Helping elderly friend find baby boy she gave up for adoption 60 years ago

I'm looking to get some advice on purchasing the AncestryDNA service for the first time. I am trying to help an elderly friend of mine (80 years old) find her baby boy she gave up for adoption 60 years ago. I have lots of experience doing adoption and family history research but know nothing about the DNA side. So far I've been hitting dead ends on the standard searching. Some of it is my friend's memory isn't so good and some of it is the places I've searched haven't kept good records. I've read lots of success stories with AncestryDNA and would like to give it a try. Any suggestions on what 'version' to sign up for? How do you find the best price?

Do steel piers (aka jack stands) under the home need replaced after several years?

I've read in several places that steel piers (jack stands) start to break down after so many years and should be replaced with cement blocks. Is this true? I have had some issues with the house not being level in some areas and wonder if this might be related.

How do find professionals who re-level manufactured/mobile homes?

How do you find professionals who re-level manufactured/mobile homes? I tried asking a few of the local manufactured home dealers in the area and they won't give any names unless you purchase from them. I tried Google but nothing comes up for local and many times you get general contractors who don't specialize in this type of work. I'd rather find someone who specializes in re-leveling (or setups) than someone who does a little bit of everything. Want it done right the first time. Thanks for any tips.

I am looking at eliminating texting from certain people and getting back to communicating 'old school', by phone calls. Can Google Voice block texting but allow phone calls? (I found that my android only blocks both.) Thanks for any info.

Is there such thing as combination water booster pump/cistern system?

Anyone out there know if there such thing as combination water booster pump/cistern system? If so, do you have any recommendations on brands or model numbers? I live up a large hill and get very low water pressure from the city. Also, occasionally lose water entirely due to town supply issues (reason for cistern option). Thanks for any suggestions.

Does anyone here know which years of GMC Sierras have the transmission pans that won't clear the exhaust? (Specifically the 6L90). I know there are tips/tricks for getting the pan to clear but just want to know what I'm getting into before trying to change the fluid.
