Being an expat in non-touristy small town and getting recognized by everyone

This is something exhausting me recentely.

I'm an asian expat in asian country, was in small town where my local wife got her job.

within first few months, I was suddenly recognized as someone from which country by almost every single person in the town, like I don't even know who they are.

even tho ppl are generally fine but sometimes ppl are quite judgemental and could feel exclusive feeling.

- ok I'm an outsider so not everyone has to welcome me.

but somehow, confliction on online by netizens of each side is suddely affecting me. As I said above it's non touristy rural town. So I'm like probably the only person from my country living here. I had to get hostile stare by some ppl I don't even know and had to hear muttering about my nationality with displeased voice from youngsters. After living a fkn year in this town with my local wife.

I even lived in western during covid, and tbh it feels worse now.

We were planning our future here but now I'm not sure about living here with my wife for my life, cause I'm gonna experience this kind of hostility everytime there's something happen ONLINE involving ppl from my country which I left years ago and don't even know what's happening there, no matter how long I live here. no matter I learn language and culture.

I think I was a bit naive that thinking being an expat in a country that me being a majority race will magically do something.

My bench is higher than squat, almost close to deadlift

I've been training for a long time and had to stop for 1.5 yrs due to injury, now back to the gym for about 6 months.

Before injury, I (6 foot, 80 kg) did bench up to 100kg/ squat 85-90kg/ deadlift 130kg.

now I'm recovering and did bench 95kg/ squat maybe 80kg/ deadlift 110kg.

I haven't ever did calfraises before, I've started doing it recentely.

Is it just my legs are not trained enough? and would adding calfraises affect much?

I got a bit longer torso(waist) comepare to legs. Would this be one of reasons?

Why are Thai band or show not internationally popular?

I don't get why it doesn't get as popular as K-things.(I know foods are popular, just wanna talk about shows/idols)

Thai shows seem like would catch niche demand. Especially there are full of GL/BL. Shows seem nice (I'm against those 'only light skin actors/actress' thing in thai culture tho). with modern background like my cherie amoure or even ancient eras with nice traditional thai cloths would be cool. Traditional clothes especially women ones are pretty enough to get some spotlight.

also what do Thai lack so good looking youngsters have to go abroad to be kpop idol? not enough investment? training system? marketing?

I know some will bring up Thai idols and actors/actress. But I wanna talk about international scale.

I remember watching Tony Jaa's movie and the horror movie 'shutter' while growing up, but it was pretty much that's it. not much memories in 2010s.

Realistically how much percentage of Thai population can afford a car?

Ok don't be offended

but from what I know Thai's average income is around 20kB/m.

from what I know car prices are 1.5-2 times higher due to taxes and importing.

Fuel prices are similar or higher than Australia.

You have to work a week on the minimum wage for a full tank 95.

But seeing at traffic and not just BKK, I'm curious cause I'm sure not all of them are those "naturally rich" families.

I'm not sure ppl are living on 2-3times longer mortgage but seems like cars are quite affordable here.

anyone doing deadlift and squat same day? is it good idea?

I'm doing 2 split(chest shoulder tri / back bi leg) and ideally 4 days/wk so hitting each parts twice/wk

I tried it but sometimes when I did deadlift hard I find it hinders my squat

If I focus on squat more it would hinder my deadlift

the other day's routine is alrdy full enough so I don't wanna change split

I'm not sure about doing deadlift one day and squat one day while hitting chest twice a wk. My benchpress is alrdy higher than my squat.

Gym culture and etiquette

First of all, I'm not in BKK or any touristy area.

I'm in a bit small and local city.

As someone who have been to around 10 gyms in both Asia and Western, feeling I'm not adapting in quite well now so wanna ask about some gym etiquettes.

  1. If someone not using specific equipment but training around so it is hard to use(eg. doing curl standing right next to rack), or using some equipment for just sit and rest, is it rude to ask if I can use it?

  2. About personal space, like how much would you expect in lil bit small and busy gym. The last gym I've been to for 3 yrs was 2 floored gym in Australia, so I didn't have to worry about this.

But also ppl didn't rly bother that much unless they bumped each other which was easier for me.

It's lil Bit harder at the gym I'm going to now since ppl seem to care too much yet it's a bit crowded for it's size.

I can't figure out how much is ok and how much is not in this one.

  • pls tell me any gym etiquettes specifically in Thai

For now the country seems it is highly depending on tourism, agriculture and oem manufacturing. What's from BKK white colars perspective the vision of Thailand like. Would it overcome mid income trap in any near future?

lying triceps extention with barbell

overhead cable triceps extention

cable triceps pushdown

do these 3 basically have same effect ?

I've been doing lying barbell as primary for heavier weight

and cable pushdown to give burning feeling after

I always needed flat bench and barbell

but after watching overhead cable, seems like the only difference is wrist angle. Even that is adjustable with what grab you use.

are they replaceable each other?

for AI topic, I'm reading Singularity is nearer atm. I'd like to get some similar books recommendation.

for the 2nd topic, I'm a person who's lil bit skeptical about living(thriving) til the end of lifespan.

I'd appreciate for any insightful books recommendation

even during runs that are smoothish

that looks clear we can make to the end without much problem

just one wipe or one death is enough for some ppl to just ragequit

especially while leveling in mid level dungs

I'm not sure it's new classic thing, or retail thing transferred to classic, or it's been just like this

even when a healer is saved by divine intervention, or the tanker died by los-ing healer yet still cleared mob packs, they just leave no matter.

I don't get what they achieve by doing this, finding new party to run from the start? flying back few minutes to go back to soloing? just why ..
