What shade of blue is this?

It depends on the lighting, depends on the angle, often it looks like the first two images, sometimes it looks like the last two images or even more blue or green, if it's cloudy or if I'm in the pool, in the sunset someone said it looked almost like key lime green, but only in the sunset, don't have a photo of this though

Marrying into an Asian Household

Hello,

For context, both me and my boyfriend are first-born citizens here, his family is from Asia, mine is from Europe. We grew up very similarly, but family life is different. Mine desire being independent even up until their old age, while with my boyfriend's household, his parents are expecting their kids to take care of them when they grow older. My boyfriend is the oldest son, with two siblings, youngest one is surely going to college, the middle child that states he's going to take care of his parents, and my boyfriend, focusing on him and me.

I discussed vaguely with my mom, where she has this view that many other coworkers of hers she's seen, fight about who will take care of their parents, pushing back and forth who should take responsibility, and that this will happen in my case, where it will be a financial burden on me, and I'll surely regret it.

How have others managed with this thought and what financial steps should I take accordingly? I have my own parents to worry about and as selfish as it sounds, I won't be giving my money to my boyfriend's parents for their rent and food, my partner knows if the responsibility somehow goes to him or he will take responsibility, but I cannot help them, I have my own family.

Unlike him, I am the only child, my parents only have me.

What are your thoughts on this, things I must know?

EDIT: I didn't realize a part of my message was cut. What I mean to say is that, financially, they want their own house. They aren't expecting anything big, but they do expect their sons to be financially responsible for them when they get older.

Edit: PLEASE READ. THIS IS TO GET EXPOSURE TO ANY RESOURCES AVAILABLE this wasn't meant to generalize or stereotype all Asian households, but I wanted to hear individuals viewpoints to get a grasp at what others lives look like when they're older.

Still doubtful

Hey guys, this is a long post but I come off as one type or another, but for years (even since middle school) I took various different tests, few of which I took with those closest with me (sorry guys) which I get INFJ with even them,

But if you were to meet me, I have come off as many different types, and it's made me sort of get stuck in a loop of what I am exactly, so I decided to share my test results as well as some information about who I know myself as a person.

A part of me feels like I was ENFJ as a child, because I was much more out there, extroverted, and I wonder if maybe I'm actually ENFJ rather than INFJ. I checked to see ISFJ, and INFP, their functions, but it doesn't relatively fit with how I think, cognitively.

Still, I am writing this all out as I would prefer a fresh new pair of eyes, maybe I am missing something, or maybe people can point me in the correct direction.

(This is very long, you've been warned)

...

...

...

  • When it comes to the way I work, I start early, do it little by little before the due date.

- I'm genuinely an in between person when it comes to being organized in life or not, I have structure, but rigidity and repetitiveness is not something I am looking for in my jobs. Variety, learning new things, always taking in new information is something I prefer. (Going to be a Physical Therapist, applying for schools currently). I have a bit of a mess in my room but there's a specific pile where I leave my clean, wearable clothes, I do my laundry often, but not rhythmically.

- People go to me to vent, often I ask a lot of questions about their situation , what happened, how they feel about it, for some reason, they say I'm very mature for our age and that I'm a private person, it's something people remarked to me as such.

- What I find interesting is, when people try to read me, for some reason they say they can, they think they can, but they find themselves lost on how to explain me, to me, while the other way around, I do often get what's their "deal" spot on most times, even if I don't know background information, with most people, I can tell their insecurities, or what they feel inferior of, but on the spot I wouldn't have actual words of how to put this information, logically speaking (which is a weak spot of mine, being able to explain things, coherently, to make it understandable, often people misinterpret or misunderstand or maybe I just ramble?)

- I genuinely want to be the person people can count on, and I want to see people improve and get better.

- Ties into the point above, I worked with kids for a while, as a swim instructor, my greatest drive is seeing them improve, not only in their skills but their confidence.

- I see the best in people, no matter how many times I've been beaten down, it doesn't make me hate humanity more or less, and I don't dwell on the past, for me, what happens happens, it's just what happens when you live, something you grow from.

- Also ties in to the point above, I never really followed the bulletin step by step, often, I'd mix in the directions and work on multiple things that can easily be tied in together, while working on the skill sets simultaneously, I wouldn't ever follow it step by step, even if I tried I always found a better way, and other people followed my lead, or adapted my way of things into their lessons with students as well.

- I don't really tolerate immorality or skewed morals, it bothers me deeply seeing wrongful behavior that could hurt others.

- Despite wanting my alone time, I hate texting, I actually love in person get togethers, although I don't put myself center stage, I don't feel comfortable, but often I have a feel for the energy in the room, the overall vibe, I bring people who seem to be on the sidelines together, and we kind of chill. When it comes to socializing, I don't actually feel drained, and it's funny but I sleep better afterwards.

- I wouldn't consider myself outright charming but I've been told I have charm, and people enjoy my nonjudgmental atmosphere, often they open up about things they don't often share, often they apologize and admit this.

- People who bother me most are the ones who are fake and shallow

- "It's not that deep" is a statement which I understand, but I don't.

- I absolutely adore random questions people ask or theorize, especially the "if you were an animal" or if you were in a cartoon, etc. I love imagining being in alternate universes, I was a lot more immersed in wanting to be a completely different animal as a kid, never felt satisfied being a person, loved animals as a kid.

- as a kid, made many stories with my stuffed animals or random animals, drawings plushies, etc, about existential crisis (5 year old me loved what was beyond) but later on if grow into often pondering about existence in general, in our planet as well as what was beyond. One time I went to a Museum full of Dinosaur skeletons, I kept pondering their extinction, and how everything led up to now, and where it's heading, making me have a midlife crisis at the age of 15.

- About the statement above, it made me "wake up" and realize, holy shit im actually alive? Everything feels like a dream, I would have these episodes where I felt "hyper aware" of my existence and everything around me, but it'd fade off into the distance, and now? Everything feels like a dream and nothing jolted me back up yet.

- I love art, I love drawing, right now my biggest interest involves the idea of our souls, soul colors, and patterns, it's such an interesting idea, as well as connecting to the rest of the Earth, etc, have a friend and it's interesting discussing with him the thoughts and ideas of how out of our material bodies, etc. I just like theorizing and learning things for the hell of it, though, sometimes I do wish I could be more practical, and it's something I am working on.

- I want to say that I wish I could see the finer details, that's only if I really push myself to, I'm a big picture thinker, I zoom out, I miss things right before my eyes at times, but I'm very observant, it's contradictory in a way. When I was a kid, I'd take everything in, notice everything, not details but just everything.

- Often I'd theorize about the universe, how it started, even before looking at theories I imagined it was a loop, starting over and over again, which aligns somewhat with "The big crunch" often I also talked with others, how, whichever way you look at it, we have energy, and our energy has to go somewhere, whether it disperses or continues on all around us, our atoms, are as old as the rest of the universe, and we continue to exist, with or without consciousness.

  • In more light hearted moments, as a kid I'd imagine interacting with cartoon/movie characters as a kid, even imagining self inserts because I wish I was in their world, or that it was really real.

  • As a kid, I was a "weird", wild child to others, attracted "misfits" is what they called us, there were some good souls from it all.

  • One last fun fact, I've been told as an animal, I'd be a Swan, or a Bunny, or a bee, but underneath it they also see a lioness?

  • Also they associate Baby Yellow / Butter Yellow with me, they said my soul screams Baby Yellow.

  • Although I give off a warm aura, they said when they see me walking or sitting, I seem unapproachable, intimidating, then they greet me and it's a completely different story.

  • This is probably because I am quite lighthearted, but rather phlegmatic, I don't get upset easily, people think I actually seem monotone, even if I think that I'm expressive enough, it still comes off very calm or low-key.

Sorry this got long, but thank you for taking the time to read through this, it was fun writing about me and I'm curious to see what you all come up with.

You care/cared about what people think about you, why?

What were your emotions, your thoughts, your fears and your driving factors behind the reason why you care or cared about what people think about you, the image you maintain?

What exactly made you care specifically about what others think about you?

What snapped you out of it?

Materialism / Sentiments for materialistic objects

As a kid, I wasn't given much of anything but material items, that was the only way I received "love". I got excited about getting something new, but I never really cared or was upset if I outgrew my old clothes, or if my mom gave things away (unless she never asked for my permission). I wouldn't say I missed things, I just went onwards, new good clothes, things, etc.

Not just about material objects, but also past memories as well. I was younger, I would proclaim that I wouldn't miss school or the "memories" made there, my friends kept challenging my claim, saying "You'll see someday.". And now they keep talking about the past. That "someday" never happened to me apparently.

Years later, I still feel indifferent to the past, but I feel kind of bad as those around me are reminiscent about the past, and are sentimental of those times, and I just crack a smile, like yeah yeah that's awesome. A part of me wishes I could experience their enjoyment, the desire to look back and find happiness looking back on memories.

... But, one thing I would consider myself materialistic about/have an attachment to, are stuffed animals. Since I was a kid, I loved (and still love) each and every one of them like live little beings, and I maintained them very well. I get high desire to buy plush animals, but I don't, because it doesn't benefit me. Many of mine were donated I don't find myself longing or missing them. It's like they weren't there before.

I am the type of person to let things come and go, people come and go. Relationships and people, matter to me a good amount, though, I learned very early on (the hard way) that it's okay to let go (what wants to leave is meant to leave) and that change is okay, change is good, and I've been that way ever since.

I wondered if this resonates with anyone here

Do you find yourself to be superstitious?

Hi, I hope I'm welcome here!

I wanted to see if any ISFJs consider themselves to be superstitious.

I potentially come off as superstitious, as I am a believer that our mind holds a lot more that we give it credit for, and we shape our surroundings, away from limits we put on ourselves, and we can change our perspective, the way we go about life, and how we come off to people, and overall, affects how everything comes back at us.

Often, I tend to "knock on wood", as I doubt myself a lot, and my anxiety can become debilitating, to the point where it's as if my doubts do come to life. When I knock on wood it kind of is like, say a stress ball, which is used as a means of putting your anxiety into something.

I've taken the time to look at what others do, "subliminals"? Really interesting. I do believe it's a great starter, to help you overcome your internal limits, subconsciously, especially when you know what you want to improve upon. Of course, the bigger half has to come from you, and acting on what you want to improve upon.

But what you feed your mind is what ultimately leads in shaping you as a person.

For some reference, my family is Orthodox Christian, I do believe in God, but I do cherry pick information. I believe there is a lot that we do not know about our universe and what lies beyond, we have limits in our perception, and I find I'm very open to the idea that we do not perceive everything, that seeing is not always something believing in.

I try so hard to fit in it backfires

Honestly, I don't know what to say, I just don't know how to not be weird. I do my best, I do have a very kind disposition but I'm certain the way I execute my disposition comes off, as well, off. I wouldn't say I'm an intimidating person, even though I've been told when I walk that I am not approachable in the slightest, they said I look like a woman on a mission, but other than that, I'm quite approachable.

But I still can't get over the fact that I do tend to seem weird or awkward. In college I did well, got other people to open up to me, opening up new groups, but if I don't push myself into the friend group from the start, it's absolute hell to make my way into that circle later on, especially if the group was already formed and conversations are already happening. I don't know how exactly to push my way into a group so I just sit there aimlessly, to the side, I love to listen to others, but there's a difference between listening and also not being able to implement myself to be a part of the group and it's just frustrating. When I do get to talk I am a bit slow, and it takes a while for me to think of what is best to say at the moment, other times I am absolutely embarrassing. I am an adult, I should be over this phase, I'm not an awkward teen anymore but sometimes I feel like I do look a bit like an aimless child.

I've been told people like me and that I am kind but it still feels like there is this distance between me and the next person, compared to others that seem to click so well with each other's energy, personalities.

What is your memory like?

This is a question frequently asked here, but I do want to know the specifics of your memory to understand better, and maybe you guys can even challenge my perception on my memory, or if this aligns with your perspective in ways.

Personally, as a child, I desired to cherish memories, and I'd write them down, take photos, knowing I'd forget the details, only to never look back on them. I'd focus on the general idea of what had happened.

Often, I'm a bit poor at recalling small talk, specific details, and am especially poor at recalling names, but I can remember people's future goals and what they are doing with their life, and even compliments which surprised me if they noticed a detail about me.

I randomly, and unsolicitedly remember a childhood memory but they're bits and pieces, moments, fragments, many of which are vivid images, but the full picture rather than all the details, if that makes sense? Sometimes I do remember certain memories vividly, but I can't grasp to search for examples, not even now.

With stressful life events, for a short while I can recall many of the details, very specific things, but it's out of choice that I push myself to remember, and I don't know why I'd remember bad things as a way to punish myself possibly when I was younger(?). But, even now, it's a blur, I know what the person did was indeed horrible, and I was harmed in the process, but I forgave the person, knowing I deserve this peace too.

A while ago, what I found was so excruciatingly painful, the memory of what I saw hadn't left my mind for months, I didn't want to, but was in the front of my mind I just kept seeing what I saw and I couldn't get it out of my eyes practically.

Luckily now I don't struggle with this anymore, but I still feel sick and terrified if I were to see those people face to face but I can't and I don't want to remember what happened.

What hurts most is, I don't remember good or neutral memories having happened as well or as strongly as bad memories.

And I wonder if it's an INFJ thing or something else, if it contradicts aspects of the way your memory works?

Looking for cute cat plushies

This isn't a search for a long lost buddy, but I was wondering if anyone knows of brands or specific cat plushies that look similar to kitty kitty kittens or are realistic in general?

Or ones you find endearing!

I feel like when I search on Google, I feel like something is missing, whether it's charm or just it doesn't hit right, I admit I'm probably asking for a lot but any direction I'd be grateful for

Unpopular Opinion

Is it just me, or do the fug nuggets and other food inspired fugglers just don't impress me.

I just don't like how they look, and they also just feel cheap and lazy, a bit less thought out, or as well made compared to other things they've made, especially the newer models?

I had this opinion before seeing the fugglers that recently came out, and even then, for some reason they still just feel less intriguing. I'd probably put them on the same level as the ones that are inspired by actual people.

No hate or judgement to those who love them and or collect them.

But what are your guy's thoughts on the food inspired fugglers?

Awkwardness

It's rhetorical but I wondered if any other INFJ feel awkward or are awkward in social situations?

It just seems like here in reddit there's this view of all INFJs being very good chameleons, and even often I am very good at mirroring energy, matching the energy of the other person, but to be a chameleon? I'm not sure.

At one point in my life I developed levels of anxiety which to this day still affect me when I am socializing, and although it's primarily my baseline, it often affects me in my every day life.

But primarily when I am socializing, I know I'm awkward sometimes, and sometimes I am so far in, I don't know how to stop. I do get along very well with many people but there always seems to be a distance between me and many people, whereas others tend to click with one another, not even just that they have more to talk about but they seem to be on the same wavelength with one another. This was also a struggle growing up.

And then there's other times where it's brutally embarrassing when you're trying to be a bit too out there in the wrong context and everyone goes quiet and you're just flooded with deep embarrassment.

I genuinely love my friend and I don't know how to feel

So I met this girl last year, from our group we have on Discord, and we have group hangouts in person and such as we all live relatively close, but she seems comfortable and loves sharing her drawings in general, but showed me the lore of the characters her team and her made for a game she made, and over time she told some people she finds me hilarious and we talked a bit now, and I just admire her, and she admires me, were similar but different, obviously, but I don't know what this feeling is, I don't have a crush but for the first time, I don't feel afraid of texting, most, if not everyone else, I feel uncomfortable, but she's unapologetically herself, just doesn't care what others think of her for the most part but I know she's also sensitive, but I have this heavy feeling in my chest, I genuinely really just want to be her friend, to be close to her, but I never felt this feeling in almost 9 or 10 years and I just feel like I could cry because I never felt this way before, I do love to get to know people and learn their stories, but I never, in such a long time, to want to get close to someone, and it chokes me up.

I haven't been able to sleep very well

I am ashamed to ask, and I'm scared, it feels like begging, and probably sounds like a small issue, but my entire life I've always had very prolonged phases, where I would only get 2-4 hours of sleep each night, and now becoming an adult it's really taking a toll on my body, my mind, soul, and my heart, and I just want to finally sleep well without interruptions, and to be at peace, no matter what happens I just want everything to be okay in my waking life, as well as when I sleep.

Thank you.
