Thinking about side hustles in the industry

I’ve been in my position for a year at a GM dealer as a Service Advisor in nor cal and I’ve been able to get comfortable enough with the chaos to climb to the top of the leader boards consistently and handle some light admin stuff for new and used inventory while management is away or something. Suddenly (like within two weeks) the shop has lost 5 techs to what was previously a crew of 13 and everything is 3-4 days out. It’s terrible but I know it’s not all rainbows, hookers, blow and windfall so I’m wanting to solidify a side hustle with the resources I have. I see my self at this dealer long term and can only assume that there will be some big changes coming that will affect my bottom line.

Talking with the guy who trained me he jokes about running his own shop but I feel like that is way too much risk and can confidently say I don’t have enough management experience in the industry to take that big of a role. I don’t have the capital to start buying and selling fb market place finds but have been wanting to know what other advisors do with their skill set outside of the role of advising.

I was selling cars for about two years before making the change to service and have some retail management experience under my belt and with my schedule I have weekends dedicated to the hustle. I’ve been doing research on how to become an auto broker in CA and have raised the question of used car acquisition at my dealer and doing a ride along to goto auctions

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Regular operation or creeping concern?

I’ve owned my 22’ RT for about two years or so and I’ve always had a suspicion there was an issue with my transmission. I goto a local dealer and they replace the valve body under powertrain warranty. Now when I drive the feeling of the first gear going into second feels a little hesitant (before it was way more hesitant) on a first drive or on my commute and shifting between 2-3 and 3-4 feels clumsy… Most of my driving is in the city since my commute to work is like 15min but I always let the car warm up from anywhere from 5-10 mins before leaving. I’ve also noticed that there is a droning sound when driving about 35-40mph but I always assumed it was MDS. I worry if I bring it to a dealer they will say they can’t replicate it and kick me down the road

I’d like to keep the car long term but fear that my short distance driving will cause more issues down the road or lead to expensive repairs because of intense wear and tear. Any advice or a place to look up TSB’s so I can see If It’s normal operation ?
