Obviously gameplay wise it wasn’t conceived, but storywise it makes a lot of sense.
From my perspective, Sora is whole in kh1, which is why he has access to time/stop/gravity/aero magic.
Narratively i makes sense that when Roxas is separated from sora, Roxas takes some of his power, or in this case the ability to cast those types of magic, time, air, and star magic.
If we look at roxas’s movie set he uses oblivion and oath keeper, channeling star and time magic, and uses air magic to move fast and attack with air waves.
When Roxas and Sora become 1 after summer vacation, Sora regains his full power, but still cannot use those spell types. I believe this is because sora doesnt truly doesnt become whole in the narrative of kh2 till the end, “two become one” and final form should be enough explanation for that.
I would like to mention that magnet magic may be sora trying to call for roxas and complete his heart, while reflect magic may be sora making a barrier not to keep things out, but his heart together.
In dream drop distance, Sora is at full power because he is in the dream worlds,and able to use basically all types of magic, even more powerful light spells like balloon magic.
Do to the events of the game he loses all his power, leading into kh3.
In kingdom hearts 3, Sora finds new strength within him self. Sora now whole, and after “regaining his powers” narratively, can use Aero magic once again, but also water magic, which is a new strength he found inside him, channeling the power of his home, the destiny islands.
Finally, if you play the 3 DLC, Sora time travels, enough said.
Also in 3, sora walks among the stars, thats like gravity magic as a literal interpretation

Guys im really starting to think that Yozora might have just been the prototype for clive, with many elements taken from versus 13 and kingdom hearts respectively.
Without too many heavy spoilers, you also essentially fight clives darkside as one of the penulitmate bosses.
Im working in a kingdom hearts, FF16, Versus 13 piece elaborating on my findings, at the request of the KH mods.
I will say, one of own theories i havent seen put forth is that Yozora was simply a place holder for the protagonist of the next(16 at the time) final fantasy.
Perhaps square wasnt ready to show off the character giving a new meaning to “this isnt what i really look like”
So nomora and the team played off of the “prototype” idea and used Noctis/Yozora as the character. Coincidently the Remind DLC is where final fantasy characters are found in KH3 all be it in the radient garden room.

I think it would be cool if in Kh4 instead of organization data fights, we have fights with the FF protagonists from 1-13 with 11 and 14 replaced with 15/16 respectively.
For those who call this crazy, look up Dissidia, and why Leguna was removed from KH birth by sleep.

The final fantasy 7 remakes basically have us following these versions of the characters. Its implied during the events of the games that the timeline is looping, and the sephiroth of the remakes is the kingdom hearts sephiroth.
This specific battle in KH 1 takes place during the events of rebirths final reality shattering battle.
The kingdom hearts 2 battle hasnt happened yet since the remakes havent covered advent children yet, but it is likely fhe 3rd FF7 game is the road to cloud be coming the KH2 cloud.
Suspiciously, who are missing from Kh3 ?
Cloud and Sephiroth…… thats because they are having their final battle post KH2, and post whatever FF73’s dlc , Advent Radiance / stand alone ff7-4 advent children.

Replaying through all the games on the most difficult settings in 2026 for the upcoming25th anniversary of the series, i must say bravo.
He has always been a part of the games and BBS just gave a name and lore behind him.

After DDD sora learns to properly D-link,causing his anti-form to become a proper form for him, connecting with darkness.
Riku is sora’s dream eater and Vanitas is Sora’s KNIGHTmare.
Whispers of Vanitas or him giving voice to all the weird voiceless stuff in the series is basically confirmed. Vanitas is the dark voice that speaks in sora, like a dark jimminy.

I have not played through FF16 yet. But i have a few theories that will need to be fleshed out after playing through the game. For now, i think perhaps FF13 versus played a large role in this games story development. The full moon and night sky just like how 15/versus 13 was originally supposed to be about the goddess of the moon. Perhaps we have been looking at Yozora wrong, maybe the commentary Nomora was making was that not only was versus 13 stolen, bastardized into 15, but also used as the groundwork for 16. Not working on 16 probably really upset him, since for all intents and purposes, V13 was once again taken from him and changed into something else.
I think square is cooking up something really obvious that we are missing.
Also,just for you ff7 and ff8 fans, your traversetown/radient garden friend will be back in kh4, to promote FF7 part 3, and FF8 remake.

This by and far is the most consistent way i could time and fight yozora, by playing the song Another Day of Sun. It sounds and is composed very similar to a kingdom hearts song as well as using the same chord progression as several kh songs.
Oh boy, part 2 is fun, its not easy being green,. But we gotta do a sequel to show the rest of the fight.

I have so much to say about this fight. I have so much to say about this series. For now, i just want to thank the Kingdom Hearts developers on making the greatest boss fight ever made.
Yozora is a game in himself, he is the real kingdom hearts, everything you have learned in every battle, in every game, leads to him.
His difficulty lies in the fact that he is just a literal reference to the bullet hell genre, i the red and blue motif while being played by a famous twin? Like a “twin stick shooter”?
In all seriousness, Yozora is as hard as you make him. The fight is a dance that has clear choreography that you must keep rhythm or beat too.
The actually smartest and most ingenuous thing about the fight that i see nobody has talked about is how the whole battle is rhythm game of the number 4. Everything must be done in 4. The timing is also 4/4 music timing so they made it to be played with music on while grinding endlessly, while the music actually helps you beat yozora!
I recommend Another Day of Sun from la la land, we’re doing a sequel from the muppets, or life while change by lyn.
These songs will literally make you win.
Also Little chef and frying pan are your best friends.
