Really impressed with Stockton

Just moved here from Tyneside and I'm really impressed with the shops, market and investment in the town centre here, and it's all so busy and well kept. Is this what happens when you don't build a Metrocentre? Is Stockton council doing something different to others in the north?

How important was the World Trade Center prior to 9/11?

I was a child at the time so all of its importance now seems like retrospect, I want to know how famous it was as a landmark and/or how significant it was for the US or world trade etc.

Justice jobs onboarding site disappeared, should I be worried?

The site I was given to track the process of my pre-employment / security checks for my new HMCTS job (accepted provisional offer) has disappeared as of Friday, with the notice 'The requested page was not found. Sorry, the page you’re looking for might have been removed, does not exist, or there might be an error in the URL.'

I've been unemployed for 10 months and it's been an awful experience, and though it's probably nothing the idea that something has gone wrong with my account and could take this away from me is causing me additional stress. I wondered if anyone knew anything about it or could help reassure me? Thanks.

Also, I understand these checks can sometimes take upwards of 4 months and they don't offer a timeline, but if anyone has examples of how long it took them to start in HMCTS it would be useful to me. Cheers.

The nurdle spillage in the Port of Tyne has really brought together the community around Newcastle, as thousands have joined the clean-up operation. I hope we can see more of this spirit, so I'm launching a gofundme to release 10 tonnes more plastic into the river next July too.

Can we talk about how funny it is that the director of the game featuring Mark x Nicole is called Mickole

I wonder if he picked their names like that on purpose

Two questions about Sparks

I loved Sparks in the end, but there's two things I feel like I don't fully understand or missed. Could anyone please clear this up for me?

>!1. What was Caloy's deal when he left? Was he jealous of Mark and Desiree, was he just aggrieved that Mark spent no time with him anymore, or am I missing something? I feel like I'm missing something.!<

>!2. Is it implied that Desiree caused the original Sparks overcrowding incident? There are problems with accounts even in the first year and the only answer I think we get to them is that they might relate to Desiree's confessed behaviour selling extra tickets in the third year. Is it possible or even deliberately insinuated that the overcrowding incident happened because Desiree sold more tickets than was safe in 2017?!<

I love Orsterra and its circle of biomes, but if I could change one thing, I would rearrange them so that the climates are a bit more consistent.

I've thought a lot about how I would go about doing it, especially while preserving interesting variety (not putting the two mountainous areas together, not putting the two grasslands together), and in the end I think the most elegant fix would simply be swapping the Cliftlands and the Highlands.

I expect people will have some differing opinions about what climates each of these areas really are, so I just want to justify a few points in my logic:

  • The hand-drawn map depicts the Cliftlands as a lot cooler and more verdant, but in-game there are only some small areas of forest in the very dusty red canyons.
  • The map depicts the Flatlands as a bit warmer with maybe a kind of Mediterranean climate (imo), butt in-game this doesn't really come across.
  • The Highlands are presumably colder also because they're high up, so they wouldn't necessarily need to be adjacent to the Frostlands to be more realistic.
  • Honestly the Woodlands is extremely ambiguous, I think its pine forests blend in well with the American-esque Cliftlands as well as they do with the Frostlands, so it's very flexible.

I'm interested to hear if anyone has similar ideas or different readings on the climates or why they are where they are.

Behaviour Interview Questions

Hi, looking for advice on behaviour-based interview questions. Obviously they ask for STAR structure, but the questions can sometimes be quite specific without obvious opportunities to speak about some aspects of a given behaviour. When answering these questions, is it important to demonstrate each of the qualities of that behaviour (like you would in a 250 word standard written behaviour example), or should I focus on answering the specific question in better depth?

Thank you

Unique? Stone dwarf heads from an obscure Moria instance

This curious set of stone heads are found in The Ghost Forge, one of the nine easily-forgotten Moria/Eregion instances which used to give you legendary item titles (now they gave you traceries).

The Ghost Forge is already a really unique location because I'm pretty sure it's the only tomb we see in Moria (except for Balin's). It's design is odd with a mixture of random tombs (including some Barrow Downs assets), iron fences and lots of crafting workbenches.

But it also has these creepy stone heads, with no fewer than six variants, and I'm pretty sure I've never seen one anywhere else in the game.

Please let me know if anyone's seen one elsewhere!

In heraldry, the word 'morne' describes animals lions which are declawed and defanged. Is it a possible etymology for Castle Morne in reference to enslaved (Leonine) Misbegotten?

The wikipedia definition for the heraldic attitude 'morne':

Also spelled morné or mortine, a lion depicted with no claws, no teeth and no tongue, in the rampant position. The term is from the Old French verb morner, from morne, a ring placed over the point of a lance, from Latin mora, "sword guard".

I stumbled upon this word 'morne' while reading about heraldic terms today, and was immediately struck by the scope for an analogy with Castle Morne's Leonine Misbegotten. Morne was conquered by Godfrey after he defeated the lone hero who wielded the Grafted Blade Greatsword. Morne and even its Greatsword (pictured) are both emblazoned with Godfrey / Serosh's lion icon. It's obviously far easier to assume that the lion icons were added to both AFTER Godfrey claimed them, but it's interesting that Morne has a heraldic lion motif (and actually, there's nothing to say that Castle Morne isn't a post-Godfrey name for the castle too).

The Leonine Misbegotten are famously mysterious in the community for their apparent links to Radagon and their proclivity for possessing legendary greatswords. It's possible the leonine misbegotten at Morne, and his lesser brethen, have some greater relation to the lone hero and the original denizens of Castle Morne.

I don't think this is a route for reinterpreting the lore of Morne, but it seemed like an interesting possible origin for the name.

All my NINO letters only include my middle and first initials (my surname is in full). How can I amend this, and do I need to?

A job I've applied for requests that I only proceed if I have proof of my national insurance number 'which includes all middle names'. I've noticed that in all my relevant letters - past ones I've received, and new ones I can make digitally on the tax account website - my name is just given as two initials and my surname (e.g. W D Gaster as opposed to Wing Dings Gaster).

Will this be a problem for the job application? It's for a civil service role.

If needed, how can I amend this to display my full name? On tax.service.gov.uk my name is already down as first name and surname in full (e.g. Wing Gaster), and the option to amend it says I would only use that if my name or marital status has changed.

Thanks.
