RN 6 Figures

I'm looking for some career advice from nurses or anyone who has successfully pivoted careers.

My background is in pediatrics, adult bedside nursing, and inpatient/outpatient psych. When I first became a nurse, I planned on becoming an NP, but after working in the field for a while, I've realized that's no longer the path I want to take.

I currently work full-time and also have a PRN position that I genuinely love. The PRN only requires two shifts a month, and my long-term goal is to eventually become a lead nurse there when the opportunity opens up. In the meantime, I'm looking for ways to increase my income while doing work that's less physically demanding but still allows me to use my nursing background.

I've become really interested in clinical research, healthcare tech, and IT. I recently interviewed for a clinical research position but didn't get it, so I'm going to keep applying while also considering going back to school.

Right now, I'm leaning toward an MSN in Nursing Informatics, but I've seen a lot of people say the degree isn't necessary to break into informatics. That has me wondering if there's a more versatile degree that would open more doors and have a higher earning potential.

For those who have transitioned from nursing into another field (or combined nursing with another discipline), what degree or career path gave you the best return on investment? If you could do it over again, what would you choose? I'm looking for something that complements nursing and increases my earning potential rather than replacing my nursing career entirely.

Entry into Clinical Research Role As A Nurse

Hi all!

Looking for advice and insight on entry into clinical research as a nurse and career growth. I’ve seen a lot of things about getting into big pharma and just want to see how far I can take this.

Little bit of my background RN for 2 years worked bedside and in undergrad I created my own research projects, assistantships, etc so I love doing research and also love nursing. I love the 2 fields.

What’s Really Worth It?

What’s really worth paying at the dealership and what’s not? I get my oil changes done through a third party and I keep up with the timeline.

I drive my car a lot on road trips and want to go into the next check up knowledgeable. I’ve already got an oil change and a cabin air filter (that I will now do myself from now on). What else is needed? Is it necessary to bring it into the dealer? I am still under warranty and want to make sure I’m in compliance

I need advice! I’m 29, nurse and about to take the following steps. I’m a beginner to all of this!! Anything else you would do? I don’t have my job invest in a 401k currently.

  1. Get ROTH IRA & I will start slow and invest $100 & invest $100 monthly & what I will invest in these index funds which I come to learn a little that these are stocks that encompass a little bit of every company?

\- VOO

\- VTI

\- QQQ

\- DRAM

  1. Actually before # 1 - eliminate debt, set up emergency fund in HYSA, fund 3 HYSA, start a CD, payoff my car & live below my means

  2. Start a passive income

Hi all!

Open to any comments, critiques, or advice. I’m an RN interested in going into data analytics within the next 90 days. I’m not expecting to land my first job in tech in 90 days but I want to lay the ground work.

My background is nursing (briefly worked with Epic when I was bedside for 6 months; currently work with EHRs) and a BA in psych (have taken statistics and been apart of research studies) so I feel like my primary cert I want to get is data analytics. I am looking into also getting compTIA a+ but have to do more research on this.

Looking for any advice, comments on my potential path:

  1. Google Data Analytics cert - study on my own but how do I leverage that cert into getting a job?

  2. CompTIA a+

  3. Build projects - not sure exactly how to go about this

  4. Job hunt

I eventually want to get into health informatics. I realize being a nurse gives me good but isn’t what necessarily lands the job. How do I stand out? What are some good ways to gain experience? Any other “smarter” paths to travel down? Any tips on job hunting?

Had family member that passed away earlier last month. Sent death certificate to MS as soon as we received it. It is now going on the 4th week and we have only heard that there is a red flag on the account. A lawyer is entitled to some of the funds. We were told there was a red flag the day is was set to disburse.

We’ve never been provided with timelines and proper communication. Our case manager sucks - not as responsive to emails. Didn’t tell us how to complete forms and he is out of the office every time we call.

How do we expedite this? We a already reached out to lawyer who is entitled to some funds. We are listed as beneficiaries.

This has been a nightmare.

“Come to Jesus meeting”

Everything isn’t all good and everything isn’t all bad. Recently I (30 F) have had 2 major life events: a close family member passed and my birthday. I told my partner (29 M) that I didn’t feel supported. It wasn’t what he wasn’t doing it was more so he wasn’t doing enough. We’ve been together for 8 years. Great caring partner over all.

For example, I traveled state to state for last 2 months - he tried coming for the service but flight got cancelled. I appreciated the gesture. I just can’t help to compare that if this was me on the other hand that I would have drown down or found an alternative. In situations like this, showing up matters the most more than just words. This translates to building life together and I don’t feel like it’s someone I would want to marry. When this happened twice with his family I drove down - no questions asked. I also think I can be hard on him at times but I also don’t like getting short end of the stick. I acknowledge we grew up differently.

Also, second time living together and things were fine until I saw that we live differently. I do things in advance (like I plan ahead for his birthdays. For mine he wanted until the day off to do decorations) and he waits to do things/needs to be told - buying basic supplies or fixing things. I usually do it but it’s exhausting. This is something I’ve spoke on several times before. Some chances but this translates to me that he will need prompting when it comes to building a life, having kids, etc. We also don’t do any dates anymore and no intimacy.

Idk is it compatibility? Am I being too hard? Is this someone not to build with?

tl;dr
