Any ways to fix your grammar without AI? (On screenplays)

Hey guys, I have been writing for a while now but still haven’t figured out how you all non native english speakers write stories without using any AI. Not because you need it for the ideas, but for fixing the grammar. Yes, you can use some translators that don’t have AI, but they don’t help you with difficult praises.

And especially with difficult location names. Sometimes you just gotta descripe what the location is like because you literally don’t know word for it, but I definktely don’t wanna do that.

Any apps to help with grammar or location names?

Can I write past the pilot, even if it’s not the smartest choice?

Hi everyone! I’ve been told that if I want to become a better screenwriter, I should focus on feature films and pilots rather than writing an entire series. I don’t expect to become a professional writer for sure, but I do want to follow my passion in the smartest way possible.

The problem is that trying to be “smart” about it has started to take the joy out of writing. I have a series I deeply love, with the pilot and the whole storyline already planned, and I’m simply not ready to let it go. I know that writing it later might be smarter because I’ll be a better writer then, and that writing beyond the pilot may not be the most useful use of my time right now or even in general.

But how do you let go of something that you’re not ready to let go of? When it brings you joy in life more than anything else.
I feel stuck between what makes sense for my future and what makes me feel passionate about writing right now. How would you handle this?

Anyone knows where I could share practise screenplays or even compete?

I’m trying to get into screenwriting and I’m looking for small communities where people share, workshop, and even compete with pilot episodes or feature film scripts.
I need a goal or deadline to stay motivated. I love writing, but I write best when there’s a reason to finish something, whether it’s a challenge, feedback from other writers, or simply knowing that someone will actually read my work.
Does anyone know of any Discord servers, Reddit communities, or other groups like this?

Interested in a free 30-Day Screenplay Competition?

Genre/s: Any genre (chosen by community vote)

Goals/Expectations/Commitment: Improve your screenwriting, receive feedback, network with other writers, and participate in optional writing challenges.

No commitment required.

Writing/Experience Level: All experience levels are welcome.

Meeting Place: Discord Max Size: 100 members

A small screenwriting Discord community is currently looking for new members. Once we reach **20–30 members** (currently 7), we'll launch our first writing challenge.

Here's how it works:

* We vote together on the theme, genre, and challenge rules.
* You have **30 days** to write either a short film, a pilot episode, or the opening act of a commercial feature film.
* When the deadline arrives, everyone's script, pitch, and outline will be posted together so participants can browse the entries and vote for their favorites. Creating a poster is optional.
* The top three entries will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The prize will be decided by the community once the group is established.

Joining the community doesn't mean you're required to participate. You can simply hang out, read scripts, give feedback, or leave whenever you want. If you do enter a challenge, you'll need to vote for another writer's entry (not your own) to be eligible for placement.

The goal is to stay motivated, improve your writing, receive feedback, discover what works and what doesn't, and connect with other screenwriters. Future challenges may last anywhere from one to four months, depending on the project.

Many working screenwriters recommend writing multiple commercial pilots and feature specs before pursuing production. The idea behind this community is to make that process more motivating by writing alongside other people.

If this sounds interesting, leave a comment and I'll send you the Discord invite.

How do I write screenplays with low budject if I love writing about wealth?

Recently I was told that I should focus on writing budget-friendly screenplays. That way they’d have a much better chance of getting into production, which is totally true. However, for some reason I love writing about toxic wealth and lifestyles, glamour, and deep themes. Those are my main elements. The only problem is that they’re not very budget-friendly. But those are like my strenghts on writing and I am passionate about them, but also know the reality of budjects

What makes the first 10 pages interesting? (Feature film/pilot episode)

Disclaimer ⛔️: If you’re just here to hate, please keep scrolling. I’m new to screenwriting, and I’d really appreciate constructive advice😄.

I’m currently writing my first feature film, and I’m wondering what makes the first 1–10 pages really hook the audience while still building the story.

Sometimes I feel like if I spend too much time setting things up, the beginning becomes boring. But if I start with a huge cliffhanger, it doesn’t have the same emotional impact because the audience doesn’t know the characters yet.

I’ve heard the first 30 minutes should give the audience a clear idea of what the story is about while still keeping them interested. Do you have any tips on finding that balance?

What makes a great commercial feature film? (Drama, romcom etc.)

Hi guys! I’ve been writing for a little over a year now, and I’ve recently been getting a lot of advice to focus on commercial screenplays, especially feature films. I’ve already written a pilot episode, and I’m really excited to try writing my first feature.
So what do you think makes a commercial feature film stand out? What keeps a wide audience hooked, and what makes the plot easy to follow without becoming boring or predictable?

How to break into screenplay industry from 9-5?

I love writing screenplays, but after a full day of work or university, I’m usually too mentally exhausted to write, even though it’s all I think about during the day.

I’ve been outlining my series for about a year and have finished the pilot, but I only get a few days each month when I have both the time and energy to make progress.

My dream is to get it into production, but at this pace it feels impossible. Is anyone else in a similar situation, where the passion and motivation are there, but your brain is just too exhausted to work on the things you love?

Guys, what do I do, people hate my screenplay

I’ve been writing a screenplay for over a year about two best friends with completely opposite lifestyles. I only shared a small part of the idea with people, but the reactions were pretty negative. Now every time I try to continue writing it, I start doubting myself a lot, even though I still believe the full story has potential.

How do I deal with critique and hate without getting it under skin? I just wanna write this story for fun and maybe one day it gets produced, maybe not, but some poeple thinking that definitely not makes me question if I want to even continiou on this story.

How do I achieve the best possible chemistry between two best friends in a screenplay? Not romantic, but platonic.

I am writing a story about two best friends who suddenly end up separate ways, and the story depicts the time when they became besties before that. How do I achieve the best possible chemistry so that the viewer feels emotional connection to their friendship?

Please don't roast me up like in my last post:)! Thank you in advance for amswering🫶

Is this screenplay idea hollywood worthy?

I have a serie idea that is absolute cinema but I feel like it is never gonna get into screen for people to see. I mean I like writing but is it imbossible dream to get into the hollywood world?

I have worked on this for over a year now and I am still exited to write it but I feel like my dreams are impossible.

The story follows two best friends whose bond feels deeper than family. In 2030, Clara returns to search for her lost friend Madison while being haunted by the choices that made her extremely wealthy. At the same time, the story shows their teenage years in 2020, when Clara rose to popularity beside the stereotypical blonde “mean girl” and slowly became obsessed with status, perfection, and money.

As Clara builds a glamorous empire through unethical choices, Madison struggles with severe insecurity and the pressure to become “perfect.” The series explores wealth, obsession, guilt, beauty standards, and friendship behind a world that looks flawless on the outside.

In the end, just when Madison finally achieves the appearance she always dreamed of, she dies unexpectedly in a car accident moments before reuniting with Clara for the first time in ten years. Even after finding success and someone who accepts her, Clara cannot escape the guilt of the past.

I built this story in a way, where it is enjoyable to watch even though you already knew the ending plot from spoilers.

How to avoid using AI on writing?

I want to use zero AI on screenplay writing. However whenever I try, I end up translating my mother tonque to english with AI or google translator, since I don't know how to praise certain phrases into english. What do I do?
