Doing An Ironman Run and I Gitted Gud!

As the title suggests, I have started an Ironman run and I am 3/4 of the way through without dying or even losing a single member. And even better, I have all S tier except for 23 MB per second cause a stupid gun fell off the map and AI couldn’t even get it!

Imagine that. Going slow, being tactical is working! Mind you I am only on standard right now, but I hope I will continue to git gud and progress to a hard run!

I see so many posts of folks saying how hard a tactical shooter is. While I agree that hard is crazy hard for how easy it is to die, if you go slow, wedge doors and treat the game like a single mistake can kill you, it becomes very doable.

I will say that I flash first and ask questions later. I have 1000% banged some poor civilians that didn’t deserve it.

Have There Been Any Updates On The Weapons Pack?

I know that they said summer 2026 was when they were going to drop the 3 weapon pack to all players, but we have yet to see it.

Anyone have any insider knowledge they want to share?

This Is Why I Weigh Myself Frequently…

Holy water bloat!

Yeah, that is a 6lb gain over 3 days. I was away, and I couldn’t control the contents of my food for those 3 days.

That’s a combination of a huge amount of salt in my food, a very heavy leg workout yesterday, and a touch of constipation.

I’ll be back to normal by Wednesday. But that’s why I try and weight myself every morning so I know how my body fluctuates.

Day 1 Done…

I feel accomplished, but doing this 74 more times…

The absolute hardest part for me is the water. That’s a crap ton of water intake for me, and I made the mistake of not starting early enough. Those last few hours were a chugfest!

I am dedicated to getting this done in one shot. I don’t want any do-overs. I want to lock in and get this done right the first time.

Day 2 started well. I do realize I need to prep the night before. Trying to make all my meals before I leave for the gym made me rush my morning routine. But that just means I need a night routine before I shut it down.

Off to the gym for workout 1!

When To Update Firmware/Software

I am also an AV nerd, and the golden rule of firmware updates is to let other people figure out the issues before you do!

I am currently rocking an older version of the firmware and software with zero stability issues.

That said, I just got myself a brand new A1 and AMS Lite - sold my old A1 for a great price and upgraded for a hundred - so should I be rocking the latest and greatest to get all the new features, if any?

Small, But Mighty

This is one of the configurations I have had over the years for my home theater.

It’s changed a number of times over the years with a much larger TV now, but I was always impressed my the imaging and accuracy of the LS50s.

Already Sober - Need Another Challenge For My 75 Hard

Got sober over 8 months ago - weekend binge drinker here - so for my challenge, no alcohol won’t be an issue.

What are some other worthwhile things could I do to keep it challenging?

I think giving up some forms of social media might be a good challenge. Or maybe not touch my Xbox for the 75 days.

What challenges can you suggest that are doable and not over the top crazy?

Mr. Whiskey

He is doing his best to look stately and dignified. Yet we know he is a total menace! But we love him nonetheless.

How To Use Unplanned Income

As the title explains, I got an unexpected term at my job and that includes a nice little increase of about $500 a month. Not life changing, but that’s an extra $6000 a year I didn’t budget for.

Over the last year, my wife and I have worked very hard to change our habits and we no longer mindlessly spend until all of our money is gone, plus we have cleared all credit card debt.

We are now working on an emergency fund and are investing in RRSP’s.

We are now living well within our means and the only debt we have left is our mortgage and a SUV payment that is 3% and has 2 years left.

I was considering taking all the extra money and dumping it onto my SUV loan and rapidly accelerate that payoff. If I do that, at the end of my term, I would be nearly car loan free. That’s pretty attractive to me because it would give me a lot of freedom to invest or pay down extra on my mortgage.

I do realize that 3% is cheap money, and I could probably start to invest, but reducing my liabilities is also a form of safety blanket and very appealing.

Thoughts?

My space was getting a bit cramped, so I decided to make a new space.

I went very simple. A basic frame attached directly to the wall, with a 1/2 MDF top. I painted it white to give the room some extra brightness and I added some more IKEA pegboards.

I have my buddy printing me some shelving and paint storage for the peg boards. I will probably move my Tamiya stuff up there and free up that space beside my paint booth.

All I need to do is grab a couple of power strips and drill holes in the top for those.

As far as cost - the total cost of materials was $140 CAD - that included adding trim after the fact to make it a bit more polished looking.
