Great Adventure on a Wednesday Afternoon in Late August = Chef’s Kiss!

Visited Six Flags Great Adventure today on a Wednesday afternoon in late August, had a wonderful time riding whatever was open today. With El Toro, Mine Train, and Wonder Woman closed, I got on all of the coasters + the Log Flume with the exception of Skull Mountain and Dark Knight. While Skull Mountain is a childhood classic, I feel a bit too mature for it… and riding Dark Knight seems pointless now that we have Barrels of Fun (Ragin’ Cajun). Barrels of Fun is a walk-on while Dark Knight always seems to have long waits.

Rope-dropping Flash is a certified must since its queue soars to 45-60 minutes real quick. I got their first train of the day. Nearly every ride was a station wait or a walk-on following Flash, with the exception of Joker… I waited about 30-40 minutes in the early afternoon since it is a bad capacity ride in the very front of the park.

Speaking of Barrels of Fun, you have to check it out at least once during your visit. The way the ride spins at the very end hits different… it’s no joke. I guarantee you’ll be screaming like Ricky Bobby when he was on fire in Talladega Nights. “Help me, Oprah Winfrey! Help me, Tom Cruise!” Best wild mouse I have ever been on.

Wishing all future SFGAd guests an amazing trip!

Could Dover be back on the ARCA schedule in 2027 after a year on the sidelines?

Last week, Dover Motor Speedway announced that the NACSAR Craftsman Truck Series will not return to the Monster Mile in 2027 even though it returned in 2026 for the first time in six years. Could this mean a return for the ARCA Menards Series + ARCA East race at Dover after not being held in 2026? I honestly wouldn’t mind a rotation between ARCA having Dover and the Truck Series having Pocono and vice versa each year, like what Formula 1 used to do with Hockenheim and the Nurburgring.

Who’s NASCAR’s most “Overrated” active crew chief? (Any series)

Cup: Randall Burnett. Burnett worked best when paired up with Tyler Reddick at RCR, and also had a successful first half of 2023 with Rowdy. Also shined from time to time with AJ Allmendinger at JTG. Since then, he has worn off, and it looks like Connor Zilisch won’t be able to win races if he has Randall atop his box.

O’Reilly: Jonathan Toney. Despite the fact that he won the 2023 O’Reilly (Xfinity) Series title with Cole Custer, he has never been able to restore the 00 back to its level of dominance like it was in 2019 under Mike Shiplett. I just don’t understand why people praise JT here and there.

Trucks: Rich Lushes. No matter what driver he gets paired up with, his painfully mid/lackluster results seem to wash, rinse, and repeat. Showed some flashes with Ben Rhodes in the early 2020s, but those days are long gone.

Your New York Mets have swept the Guardians in Cleveland for the first time since 2010 (and since Cleveland changed their team name)!

Gotta keep breaking trends against these AL teams! 👊

Old Live Action Nickelodeon Show with a NASCAR Episode, Circa 2016?

I remember around 2016 there was this live action Nickelodeon show that had an episode about NASCAR. I recall the show being science-related, but I cannot remember. The show's protagonist said his favorite driver was an up-and-coming Harrison Burton in his NASCAR NEXT era. He also liked Bubba Wallace when he drove for Roush. Does anyone happen to remember the name of this show? And (Bonus) if the episode was actually good? I'd say it's one of those NASCAR x children's TV cameos that have flown under the radar.

Making my first HP visit in 2 years at the end of August. Looking for advice on how to plan my day out.

Hello! After not being able to attend last summer due to my grandparents being busy, I will be attending HP for the first time since 2024 from the final Tuesday this month to the final Thursday this month (August 25-27). I will be going with my grandparents and younger brother. The former is convinced that because PA schools start up around this time (We’re from New Jersey), it will be less crowded but hours might be limited (Earlier closure time).

My goal for this year? Ride as many of the major roller coasters (I’m too mature Cocoa Cruiser and Trailblazer as they are marketed toward people between the ages of 5-10) as possible, go to the retro arcade, ride Twizzlers Twisted Gravity, and get one last ride on Tidal Force (Splash Zone) before it’s gone forever. We’re doing Chocolate World Tuesday, main park Wednesday, and going home Thursday.

Last time I went, I made the infamous mistake of riding Candymonium first, but following the research I’ve conducted so far, I need to save it until the mid-afternoon following lunch. Most people say to go on Fahrenheit or Laff Trakk first due to capacity issues, and I’d prefer riding on Fahrenheit first since it’s more intense for me. Then, people say to hit up WCR and Wild Mouse before going to Lightning Racer, then Storm Runner and Remix. My biggest concern will be when to fit in Skyrush and Great Bear, since their wait times feel like roulettes due to how random they are all the time. The “skippable” coasters always seem to be Laff Trakk and Comet due to their long waits and how they gear toward late elementary-early middle school families, and SDL because it never bodes well for people who are on a time crunch.

I’m also worried about if I’ll have enough time to fit in some rounds of Daytona USA at the retro arcade and the other two non-roller coaster rides I mentioned before. How long have TTG and TF lines gotten this season? When are they the least busy?

I understand posts like this are fairly common, but everyone’s experience (Including mine) will be different). I’ll also call HP the day before I leave to see which rides will be closed, and we don’t plan on buying a fast pass. Thank you all!

Sam and the Spirit Squad in Piscataway, NJ?

Football season is almost exactly one month away, and the Minutemen begin year two in the Harasymiak era in Piscataway, New Jersey. I plan on going to this game. What are the odds of Sam the Minuteman + the UMass Spirit Squad making the trip to SHI Stadium for road fans to interact with? It’s about a 3.5 hour trip, so I think it’s doable. MAC teams bringing their mascots to road games seems 50/50, as Miami (OH) brought theirs to Rutgers while Ohio did not. Would love to get a pic on the road with Sam during my experience. See some of you there!

Most underrated songs from a NASCAR video game soundtrack?

In NASCAR 07, “Soft Smoke” and “Southern Hallelujah” are bangers. Unfortunately, they are overshadowed by “Diary of Jane.”

The Jersey Shore Blueclaws have been involved in/responsible for ejections in three of their last four games.

-June 21 7-6 win vs. Greenville: JS manager Mycal Jones is ejected by home plate umpire Jose Sandoval for arguing the placement of baserunners following batter backswing interference in the bottom of the fourth inning.

-June 23 8-7 loss at Brooklyn: Brooklyn 2B Jamari Baylor is ejected by home plate umpire Christian Miranda for arguing balls and strikes in the middle of his at-bat in the bottom of the 6th.

-June 25 7-5 win at Brooklyn: Miranda ejected Brooklyn hitting coach Devin De Young in the bottom of the 7th for arguing a strike three call to JT Benson. Then, he ejects JS pitching coach Ryan Buchter with two outs in the bottom of the 9th for arguing a hit by pitch call to Trace Willhoite. (I haven’t seen any footage of the game, so the benches could have also cleared. I’m not sure.) These two assistant coaches have had a history with ejections.

Will this dark linsanity run of Blueclaws black magic with umpires continue?

Blueclaws manager ejected - 6/21/2026

Does anyone happen to know the reason for Jersey Shore Blueclaws (Philadelphia Phillies A+) manager Mycal Jones’s ejection by Jose Sandoval during the bottom of the fourth inning in their 7-6 win over the Greenville Drive on Sunday, June 21? I cannot find any footage of this, and the last reported play (Per GameDay) prior to the ejection was a Joel Dragoo two-out single down the left field line. I was just at their game two days prior, where they had lost in the top of the ninth thanks to giving up consecutive triples.

Additionally, Frederick Keys bench player Carlos Vazquez was ejected from another prior game I had attended on May 30, for arguing a foul ball (No hit by pitch) call from Nat Rodriguez Garcia. I cannot find footage of that, either.

Any assistance in figuring these out would be appreciated!

Which scenario seems more likely for next year: A Christian Eckes return to the O’Reilly Series, or Josh Berry swapping places with Jesse Love?

Even though he’s still yet to win a race in his return to the Truck Series, Eckes absolutely belongs in O’Reilly in my opinion. Kaulig’s final season under a full Chevrolet banner did not give him a fair shot at contending for race victories. Additionally, Charles Denike leaving for Bubba Wallace’s Cup Series team seems to have set him back. As long as Downforce Danny Stockman remains with RCR next season, I firmly believe that Eckes can match, if not exceed upon Love’s stats in the #2 car.

An O’Reilly lineup with veteran presence is always a plus, and a pairing of Josh Berry + Austin Hill would be no exception. Berry’s presence in the O’Reilly Series would carry the torch of Justin Allgaier’s O’Reilly career when it comes to an end. At least 1-2 championships and short track dominance would be the expectation for Josh, as he would partner up with the king of O’Reilly Series superspeedway races.

Sponsorship shouldn’t be an issue with either two, since Whelen covers nearly the full season for the team. Some other honorable mentions for this seat include Anthony Alfredo Nick Sanchez, a rotating cast of drivers (All-Star car), or downsizing from two cars to one with Hill.

Who would be the better fit to you guys?

I better be hearing “WE WANT SOCHAN!” chants midway through the fourth quarter.

Those Spurs will become dead meat the moment they step into the Garden. Knicks in four.

u/Zestyclose_Worth_232 — 2 months ago

THEY’VE DONE IT! The Knicks have won at the Frost Bank Center for the first time since December 7, 2021 (1,639 days ago).

The Spurs’ arena was still called the AT&T Center, and Wemby and Castle were still in their amateur years.

Break those trends! Three more to go!

u/Zestyclose_Worth_232 — 3 months ago

Wednesday will mark 1,639 days since the Knicks last defeated the Spurs at the Frost Bank Center.

RJ Barrett had 32 points in the Knicks’ 121-109 win over the Spurs in San Antonio on December 7, 2021.

2022-23: Lost to the Spurs before Wemby was even in the league.

2023-24: Brunson’s 60-point game isn’t enough.

2024-25: Sandro Mamukelashvili.

2025-26: Blown 20+-point lead.

Breaking trends is one of my most important mottos in sports, and we need to silence those drums on Wednesday night by doing just that. Go NY Go!!

The caption on one of William Sawalich’s recent Instagram posts from Nashville implies that he will not participate in any more Truck Series races this season.

In five starts this season, Sawalich recorded a best finish of 10th twice (Darlington and Charlotte).

Does the Minnesota native need to run more Truck Series races to gain experience, or do you think he has enough amateur experience to go all-in on development in the O’Reilly Series?

Got these autographs from NASCAR pit road officials at the race in Dover last week. But I cannot comprehend with what they say.

Got these autographs with my pre-race track pass this Sunday, as they stood on the other side of the pit road wall. Can someone make out their names through these signatures based on legibility? Any help would be appreciated!

My condolences to the Busch family. 🕊️

Who is NASCAR’s full-time pace car driver?

For those who have played NASCAR Thunder in the past, you may remember Buster Auton being listed as the driver of the playable pace car. Auton is well-known for his appearances in video games and on trading cards, in addition to his run-in with driver Joe Cooksey in the 1999 ARCA season opener at Daytona.

I was listening to the REs at Dover last year, and the PRN announcers mentioned something about the normal pace car driver taking the week off for a summer vacation. Unfortunately, I missed out on his name. Whenever I do my research… it just gives me honorary pace car drivers rather than the full-time ones.

Who drives the pace car(s) full-time in 2026?

Today's win over the Tigers marks the Mets' first sweep over Detroit since the 2004 season.

https://www.mlb.com/video/cameron-hits-walk-off-home-run

It is only their second sweep over Detroit in franchise history, and both took place in Queens. Hopefully we can sweep them again at Comerica for the first time in 2027 or 2029.

The Mets just have to keep breaking these sorts of trends.

Were any of you guys in attendance for this 2004 series?
