How did you help your kid with intense fear of thunderstorms?

We’ve had a couple of big thunderstorms this year, including one early on in the spring that required a 5am dash to the basement when tornado sirens went off.

Our 7yo is now significantly more afraid of any level of storm. Before he didn’t like storms like any kid but now any thunder at all and he asks if we need to go to the basement. He woke up at 3:30 the other morning to the loud thunder of a storm in a complete panic, took a full hour to get him to lay calmly in bed as the storm faded.

He does a lot of ruminating (we’re having him tested him for ADHD this fall) so I think he builds it up a lot then spirals quickly.

We are getting ready to do some substantial seeding in our backyard but just found out our sprinkler system needs significant repair and we dont want to out off the seeding another year.

What are the best temporary sprinklers to cover our yard like this so I don’t have to go out and constantly move it around?
