having an issue with my Ethernet. I bought a 2.5g pci nic to take advantage of my new internet's 2.5g speeds. however since I installed it I have had nothing but problems. basically, the ethernet connection is randomly disconnecting. it is a realtek card. I have disabled flow control, green Ethernet, Ethernet lite, and the power management settings. I have tried two different cables. I have tried three different pci slots. I have also tried to install the latest drivers from both realtek and the card's manufacturer. i thought my card was a dud, so I requested a replacement. same issue occurs. i tried a different brand (also a realtek based card), same issue. what gives? is there a fix?
does anyone know what was the point of having two teams in the practice mode in the sega-era/early 2k era 2ks? i thought it could let you do a 1 on 1 with a buddy, but i hooked up a second controller and found out that the away team can't even pick up the ball.
trying to figure out how to get all my videos to sound somewhat consistent volume-wise. i have tried the audio filters but they all change the volume dynamically and i don't want that. i have videos of tape transfers and the background hiss gets amplified really loud until music plays/someone speaks. is there a way around this in mpv?
having a weird issue on my desktop. i have fiber internet through conexon connect. i have a 2.5g pci nic. i pay for 2g speeds. i have my desktop plugged into the 10g port on my router. my download speed is 200mbps. yet if i plug my pc into a 1g port, i get 1g download.
i have also tried the ethernet port on my motherboard, same issue. 100mbps down on 10g port, 1g down on 1g port.
i thought this could be an issue with my isp, but i plugged my laptop into the 10g port, and i'm getting 1g down (my laptop's port only goes up to 1g).
im running windows 11 on my desktop. is there anything in windows that could cause these slower speeds? auto tuning is set to normal. turning it off slows it down even further. drivers are up to date. windows is up to date. rebooted my router and pc, unplug/replug, nothing has fixed it. turning on nordvpn makes it faster, close to my 2g speeds for some reason.
found an old clip of bjork on tfi friday and this song was playing as she was walking out of the bar and onto the stage. anyone know what song this is?
edit: I'm talking about the song that's playing WHILE she is walking to the stage and everyone's cheering. the song that's the most shown in the video attached. NOT the song she then performed (I miss you).
i have an HDMI switch, I've had it for almost four years now. it worked with everything I threw at it, even sources with hdcp. but now I'm wanting to play some ps3 (it has hdcp) and I'm getting a black screen. direct connection to my monitor works fine, so I tried both my ps4 and my pstv, same issue. so then I hooked up my Roku to it, and sure enough I get an hdcp error. this is through multiple HDMI cables by the way. in the four years I've had this I have never had this issue at all until now.

so what I'm dealing with is this:
device that has hdcp > HDMI switch > tv/monitor - black screen/hdcp error
device that has hdcp > tv/monitor > shows up fine

tried power cycling it, swapped cables, tried two displays, nothing has worked. should I cut my losses and get a new one?
planning on making some frameless 703 acoustic panels. I want them 4" thick with a 4" air gap. but the problem is that there are practically no guides on how to mount them with an air gap. i can't find anything on it. does anyone know the best way to mount these?
i was thinking mounting a couple woodblocks on the wall and gluing impalers on the blocks. but I dunno if it'll hold.
so I recently became an affiliate. I'm very confused about the ad stuff.
so people don't like pre-rolls apparently (I don't blame them) so a lot of people online are saying run a 3 minute mid roll per hour so people don't get pre-rolls for 30 minutes. but what does that mean for me? do I just stop everything that I'm doing and just let an ad take over at (mostly) random? i know I can roll them myself, which would be ideal if I was on a brb screen, but rolling them while I'm gaming? if I'm gaming I can't just alt tab in the middle of a session (especially when stuff is going down) and snooze an ad. like why can't I just only roll them myself when I'm brb? apparently there's an auto-snooze that detects any high interest portions of the stream and doesn't auto roll them, but how reliable is that?
maybe I'm getting this entirely wrong, but my probably made-up fears led me to request to outboard for now. I just want to be sure I'm able to provide the best experience for my viewers. i also multi-stream on YouTube, so I don't want those viewers being effected either.
trying to get sound to not leak out of my office so much, so I bought some weather seal and a door sweep. there is a gap at the top and the right of the door. i got the weather seal, I installed it and now the door won't shut. are there any other options I can do here?
just moved into a new place. i really need some acoustic treatment in my new office. i want to see if i can build some acoustic panels, but most of the tutorials online expect you to have some woodworking setup with a saw. i don't have any of that. is there any easy method of making acoustic panels that doesn't involve a hacksaw? i feel like buying a whole woodworking setup would make this project more expensive than buying panels from gik.
trying to get my 360 looking right on both my monitor and my capture card. if I set my 360 to standard and my capture card to full range, it looks correct on my capture card but not on my monitor. if I set my 360 to expanded and my capture card to either limited or full, it looks correct on my monitor but the blacks are crushed on my capture card. my capture card is an avermedia live gamer 4k gc573. is there a fix for this? i read online that the 360 outputs gamma 2.6 instead of the standard 2.2.
I built a PC in 2019. it's rocking an 8700k and a 2070 with 64gb of ddr4. it's serving me well but I want to build a new PC down the line. with ram prices still costing both your kidneys, your colon, and your intestines, I was thinking about doing an am4 or whatever the last Intel platform that supported ddr4 build. y'all think I should go this route in 2026? i already have 64gb of ddr4 on my current build. I can reuse it for this new build.
i don't have a microcenter nearby. I'm not driving three hours for PC parts. combos are probably out of the question. i looked up prices for am4 CPUs like the 5800x3d. ebay prices are the same as a 4070 super I'm eyeing ($450-500). so I don't know if that's even viable. I wanted a motherboard that can fit a 2-slot GPU, capture card, and a sound card. i could probably take care of that pretty cheapily, it's just the CPU that's killing me.
my grandma has a decent collection of records that's just sitting inside a cabinet. I was thinking about one day transferring all of them to digital. don't know how rare they are but I don't mind transferring them even if they may already be on streaming services or cd.
I was eyeing an audio technica at-lp120xusb. seems like a good budget player for casual listening. i don't need no $5,000,000 turntable with a $10,000,000 cartridge or anything. $400 seems to be the right price point for me. does anyone use this turntable for transfers? how is it? should I go with the RCA out or USB for transfers? do you think I need to upgrade the stylus? i may do some casual listening from time to time (and I'm definitely gonna be listening while transferring all these records lol) so I don't wanna just waste this. if it's not up to snuff, is there anything better for around that price point or cheaper?
