I got new pickleball shoes arriving soon, but I'm thinking of using the current ones on easier games/sessions to squeeze out extra playtime before discarding. Would they still play better than normal sneakers?

Worn pickleball shoes are K-swiss Supreme, normal sneakers are Asics Gel Contend 9, and I got new Supreme 2s arriving soon.

My thinking is worn, but not too worn out, shoes specifically for pickleball can still be better than relatively new shoes not built for pickleball, so I should keep wearing them out until that's no longer true, and ask the question in the post title to determine that. But since new pickleball shoes are better than either option, I use the new shoes for all the hardest opponents and get in all the extra playtime on older pickleball shoes only when extra performance wouldn't really matter. Thoughts on this logic?

Instagram old email isn't deleting

I have an old email A and new email B. I added B, changed the email on Instagram and Thread from A to B, but the change is only saving on Thread. On IG, it still says my email is A and lists A as primary contact in the accounts center. I have no other accounts in the accounts center. Both accounts are personal accounts.

Meta AI was useless, refused to connect me to a real agent, and I don't trust "submit form" because those things go into black holes. Never seen a large company fix a bug after I reported it, so I stopped bothering.

Most comfortable shirts for high heat/humidity jogs below $30 per shirt

I started jogging this year and have always wore random T-shirts, but the humidity was brutal yesterday despite starting shortly past sunset. And it was high 80s F, but there'll be days coming with low 90s at sunset. The obvious solution is run without a shirt, but I don't want to do that, so I figured I'd buy lighter and more optimized shirts specifically for running, and see if the jog feels nicer. I'm seeing SOAR or NoFry are among the greatest for this scenario, but I don't want to spend $100 per shirt before checking whether something cheaper is already comfortable enough.

I already tried searching online, but there's so many options at so many price points, with so much noise, that I can't figure out the wisest place to start. All I know is to apply a special case of the general stategy for upgrading quality of life: start with something not too cheap, see how it goes, and then stay there or go up a tier.

I'm open to deal hunting/sniping to maximize quality per price, and would like to hear any strategies on those.

Got these slightly used Adidas Boston 12s for $43. Any red flags from these photos, or was it indeed a good deal?

Also, anything I should make note of them during test jog (will do today or tomorrow) beyond just feel? If the feel is good and the photos are good, I can't imagine how I'd get screwed, but I'm wondering what else to look for, just in case.

How can I fix this discolored spot in a cheap & easy way, i.e. not repainting my walls?

I cleaned a stain on drywall and changed the wall color from scrubbing more, harder, and in a wider area than was needed. The discoloration is obvious looking from afar, and I'm trying to fix it to avoid security deposit dock.

I don't want to color match, buy paint, buy paint brushes, and do the whole painting process when it's just one spot. Also, the spot is subtle enough that I can't trust any paint coat will blend in more than the status quo, even if I'm careful selecting paint.

I'm hoping there's something more convenient than repainting, with less things to buy and/or less time on the process.

Trying to decide between Redpocket GSMA vs Infi Mobile Verizon. I think either will be good for my home city and visting other cities, but I'm unsure about road trips, specifically tethering to laptop during long car rides.

My Redpocket GSMT annual plan renews 9/1, so I'm looking in late August to either switch to GSMA for another year, or switch providers to Infi Mobile. Even T-mobile is good enough for random use in cities when I'm at a business/outside without Wifi, but I keep getting screwed on road trips or car rides. I try to use downtime to get stuff done on my laptop via mobile tethering hotspot, but even when there is signal, hotspot often fails. Support fixed it last month, but only after it was too late and even then, the speed was in the dozens of KB/s range (took a minute just to load a wikipedia article).

All that being said, Infi Mobile is cheaper, but I don't want to save money and then suddenly get screwed when I want to rely on data/hotspot in a crucial way.

Here's a comparison I made:

Price: $100/year Redpocket vs $49/year Infi Mobile

Data: 3GB/m RP vs 5GB/m IM. Either amount is enough.

Coverage: RP shows a great map via CoverageGenuis, IM doesn't have zoom and scroll feature to be able to tell what's going on

Speed: Unclear. Anything >10MB/s would be good enough since I don't watch videos or game on my phone.

Hotspot: Neither has it (pay extra as needed), but as I understand, you can still draw from your monthly data allotment to tether to computer.

Compatibility: I have Motorola Edge 2024, which Infi Mobile says works with physical sim but not e-sim. Would that screw me on international travel if I keep my sim, but need a one-off plan? Or do I just go off the e-sim compatibility criterion for that one-off plan, whatever country I go to and provider I choose?

Any other comparison criteria I should be aware of?

WH XM3 headphones device switching: any workaround to bluetooth toggling to switch between devices?

If I'm connected to one of my phone/laptop and want to connect to the other, I have to turn bluetooth off on the 1st and then press connect in bluetooth menu on the 2nd. This has been discussed here before. Is there any workaround?

I'm glad there's no re-pairing or forgetting business, but this still feels clunky, especially since my old headphones didn't even need bluetooth toggle, in fact they'd automatically pivot as long as sound was only coming from one of the devices.

It only loses 5-10 seconds at a time, but I'll still come out ahead looking for a workaround once I do a switch hundreds of times. Also, I don't want to get caught off-guard accepting a call and forgetting to switch before I do.

Bike pad replacement: requesting feedback before going ahead with repair method found via research

I have a Funhang EB-M1. According to https://www.facebook.com/groups/1836620050460219/posts/2248506429271577/, you can replace the brake pads on this bike quickly and cheaply, and "Dekanboo semi-metallic pads" will work.

Is that post right? I have attached photos of the back wheel braking system. Also, will the pads at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CSDCMCXL work even though it says mountain bike? The listing at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRMYWPM3/ is very similar and comes with a scraper and some circular arc tool. I'm thinking of buying that one anyways because it arrives faster and is only $3 extra, but I'm also curious if those 2 tools are needed for the job and what would happen if you tried a replacement without them.

Finally, I'm a little suspicious because the local bike shop quoted me $33 for repair and $20 for parts, but I figured maybe they're just using fancy pads (the guy pulled a small box out of some drawer of many fancy small boxes when checking) and all I have to do is make sure these cheap ones will work. I got 3k miles on the pads the bike came with, so if I can get at least that again on new ones, I'm content to worry about pad optimization the 2nd time around.

Looking for night stretching routine to reach splits

I want to be able to do a split because it looks cool and seems like a nice flexibility goal, kind of like touching your toes without bending your knees, crossing your legs behind your back, or that exercise where you're lying on your stomach but can still lift both legs off the ground and curl them.

I'm looking for a stretching routine at night to accomplish that which complements the physical activity I already do. I lift and do pickleball in the morning/afternoon in some order, a jog in the evening, and I e-bike 0.5-1.5 miles between things a lot; sometimes 5-10 miles each way for certain pickleball places.

Let me know if there's any more info I should provide to get a better answer.

How do I finish getting these bike grease stains off of drywall? Did my attempt cause any paint damage?

I made a water + dish soap + baking soda + vinegar solution, soaked a soft sponge, and scrubbed all the spots off with circular and/or back and forth motions. However, there's still some light spots.

Also, do I need to worry about the paint discoloration in the last photo sticking? Spots like that are from using the harder green side of sponge instead of the softer yellow because I noticed yellow didn't get the job done sometimes but green would. It's been a day since I cleaned and the colors are still different.

Edit: last image doesn't have enough contrast or lighting. Please refer to https://imgur.com/a/yvh1U7Z

Looking to find these shorts online so I can buy more of them

I tried searching the codes off the tag, searching Balance Collection, and searching zipper pocket shorts space dye + combo of additional adjectives, but they didn't turn up. I tried AI too but it only told me what I already know.

These shorts are ≈6 years old, so maybe they stopped being sold and disappeared off the internet?

I'm also open to hearing recommendations for zipper pocket shorts with a similar fabric, similar pockets, and ability to last a long time like these did.

Is there a better way to keep my helmet straps tightened? I figured out a way that works, but I often have to waste a little time readjusting.

I saw a flimsy rubber piece at the end of one quick release buckle and used it as seen in the 1st photo. If you tug anywhere, the strap goes back to full length and then you have to readjust.

Helmet name: Oakley DRT5 Maven - Mips

How do flip the front fender orientation while still having it and the bike light attached to this wavy metal piece?

I was told the fender is on backwards, and protection is improved if long half is pointing backwards and front half covers front of the wheel.

The 3rd photo shows my repair bag, and some extra parts that came with the fender used for alternate installation methods that might help. None of those alternate methods could fit the light, flip or no flip, but maybe I overlooked an idea.

I'm also open to alternate approaches like attaching the light elsewhere or getting some small parts to finish the job, but ideally I'd like something that isn't too much trouble with what I already got and what I've already done to the bike.

Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-55-59KS) laptop battery draining in 2-3 hours (depending on brightness) now. Do I get a replacement battery, or is there a checklist of most likely things that might fix it to run through first?

Edit: I mean 1.5-2 hours

This laptop is 4 years old. I know things get worse over time, but I wanna put off getting a new laptop. Using the laptop for several hours without charging access is rare, but when it comes up it's annoying that my battery runs out and I have to put it away, so I'd like to get the problem out of the way.

I don't want to buy a new laptop because besides this issue and the plastic slowly cracking more, it still works well; maybe in a few years.

Full specs: Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop, 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10300H,NVIDIA GeForce GTX

1650 Ti, 15.6" Full HD IPS 144Hz Display, 8GB DDR4,256GB NVMe SSD,WiFi 6, DTS X Ultra, Backlit Keyboard, AN515-55-59KS

Trouble finding the best seller to replace Oakley DRT5 sweat guard

https://preview.redd.it/mvef4rewvb7h1.png?width=678&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0bb45e1a7c4594f5cb06390c04b1ea895b94c87

My strip stopped sticking well to the velcro and so I have the same issue as this post. 2 sellers are mentioned in the comments. Tradeinn no longer sells the part "due to the Oakley new distribution regulations," and bike-discount has a 50 Euro shipping fee.

I'm ok with an official pad, or a knockoff/generic with the same dimensions that still fits. I started looking for the latter, but almost everything I see looks different.

I found this for $26 after shipping: https://www.backcountry.com/oakley-drt-aro-sweat-guard-kit#product-info. Length looks correct, but how can I confirm if they don't list a measurement? More importantly, can I get a better deal?

Lastly, is it possible I can just repair the strip since stickiness is the only issue? No smell, tearing, or warping issues like other posts talk about.

Plastic piece covering the pedal crank gears came off. Does it need to be replaced? One thread says no, but I wanna make sure my situation is the same.

Fixing not worth it (2nd photo shows plastic broke off on 3 of 4 support circles) especially since it's a cheap part, so it's either replace or stop using.

This thread says stop using: https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/oez4xf/this_plastic_piece_on_my_crank_came_off_is_it/

However, I have a different bike and take more risks than the average rider with surfaces, speed, turning, braking etc. Does that matter? I'm thinking the plastic piece is somehow useful for protecting gears from damage, but I don't know if that's true.

Why is the pancake waffles scenario so common on help based subreddits?

By the scenario, I mean this tweet. When asking for help with a detailed post, half the time people will misinterpret the question or follow up comments and uncharitably assume things that haven't been said. Like following that scenario, if you asked about how to make sure you don't mess up your clothing while eating pancakes with syrup, someone will respond that you should be eating waffles instead, someone else will ask why you're worried so much, and finally someone will sarcastically answer by restating the goal, like "just don't let any syrup drip over the perimeter."

It's also becoming more common that instead of people answering the question, they will behave like Stack Overflow users by condescendingly dismissing it, or writing that you shouldn't be trying to solve the problem in the first place.

The general issue is it seems like redditors are overeager to read between the lines instead of focusing on what was actually asked. And in most cases where people don't misintepret the post because there is no room for ambiguity or insults, or the question has been made very detailed, it dies out with no answer at all.

Paid $100 to upgrade tires and got a flat from nail in under a week. How do I prevent this from happening again? And do I need to buy a new tire or can I patch it?

I feel like crashing out. These Schwalbes were supposed to last 1000+ miles, but I got like 75 before disaster struck. I was riding one of many roads I've ridden dozens of times before.

Is there any chance there's something more to it than just bad luck?

Are used Sony WH-1000XM3 worth it for noise cancelling?

I'm using Runolim WH301A, which is very cheap but good enough for me besides wanting a little more battery life (i.e. I don't care for sound quality or bells and whistles; the middle button to pause/unpause music is quite enough). However, now I want to upgrade noise cancelling to the maximum, so I did a little searching and read how Sony is strong in this department.

I'm willing to pay up to $100 and don't mind anything used as long as it's just cosmetic damage or slight battery decline, and figured the eBay XM3 listings for $50-60 + shipping are a good deal for noise cancelling. But is there a catch? And can I get substantially better cancelling below that target?

I have only seen 2 examples, but already it seems there must be a pattern and some reason for the pattern. The title should contain the whole question, but let me know if I should try to describe the situation more precisely. Some examples:

There's a category of memes that contains a lot of ones from the same author that have a "get your tshirt at..." plug at the end. It turns out due to that ad, you can track down what the original account of the memes should be and thereby cut through all the layers of reposting. So finally, you click on who made the memes, it's someone with like 10 boring real life posts and no memes, and then you see a shit ton of memes in the retweets section, but most of them are crap, and it is only some subset of those that are the ones the original creator actually made, and those are the high quality ones to look at, but you can't find how to make exactly those appear instead of seeing all posts or not seeing the posts at all.
